História da química e da geologia: Joseph Black e James Hutton como referências para educação em ciências

The second half of eighteenth century is marked by the advancement of chemistry and geology. The first science acquired the law of conservation of mass and this science represented a important support to geology and mineralogy. We say that both became modern science that time. Our aim is to show up some interrelations between history of chemistry and history of geology by means of the study of Joseph Black's and James Hutton's works. We defend that it is positive to science education to understand and approach the relations among different and disciplinary areas of science.

La ventana indiscreta. La Historia y la Antropología Jurídicas a través de la emoción de sus textos

El monográfico que editamos en este quinto número de prohistoria es el resultado de una convocatoria realizada desde la revista, durante el año 2000, con la intención de confeccionar un dossier. La anchura de la respuesta está a la vista: las autoras y los autores que publican aquí sus investigaciones, comparten la voluntad de intentar dirigir la mirada a través de esta ventana indiscreta, que muestra la tela por el revés, por el bies y por sus hilos, y discute certidumbres secularmente instaladas. Ignasi Terradas, entrevistado por Dalla Corte, reflexiona, toma posición y asigna potencia al campo que se despliega, en clave de investigación y acción, detrás de la etiqueta aparentemente académica de la antropología jurídica. Un grupo de notables antropólogos e historiadores observan y analizan distintas facetas del universo de los derechos, las jurisdicciones, los cambiantes perfiles de delitos y delincuentes, o discutiendo las vías de realización de la 'ciudadanía', una cantera de fuentes que, para las historiografias hispánica y rioplatense, comienza a arrojar ya resultados sustantivos sobre los cuales edificar nuevas versiones de sociedades que transitan, sobre todo, la disolución del Antiguo Régimen.

A Catálise no Brasil nos últimos 25 anos: uma história de sucesso

In the last 25 years the research in catalysis has passed from heterogeneous processes mainly applied to petrochemical industries to homogeneous processes applied to fine chemicals and green chemistry. In this context the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) is playing an important role in the organization of this interdisciplinary area involving researches from different fields of physical sciences.

A história, evolução e crescimento da Eletroquímica: Eletroanalítica nestes últimos 25 anos

This text describes the development of Electrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry in Brazil from the pioneers at the IQ/USP in the 70's to the present day status. It explains how the members of the scientific community organized themselves before the establishment in 1993 of a specific division within the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) through bi-ennial meetings (Brazilian Symposium of Electrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry - SIBEE). Those SIBEE meetings, in a present number of 12, are described individually giving some emphasis on their organizers, the invited speakers and the statistics and overall structure of the event. The activities of the Electrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry Division of the SBQ from 1993 are also briefly discussed as well as some considerations are made on the present and future of these fields.

Maria de Portugal, una dona amagada per la història

The points of departure of this article are our own researches which talked about Maria of Portugal and widowhood during the 14ht century, respectively. We were interested in the figure of Maria of Portugal as example of all that kind of people, mostly women but also children who were treated as change currency by their relatives. They were used to guaranty peace treaties and other agreements, but also as hostages in war times. This article is based on the study of Maria's will, which is preserved in the Arxiu de la Coroan d'Aaragó. however we also thought necessary to present the figure of Maria of Portugal in order to grasp, not only the events that marked her life, but also the way they influenced in her thoughts an feelings.

The dissertation '«Pas de deux». When dance and gender' share stage treats of the impact and the repercussion that have had the fight for the equality women-men and the studies of gender in the practice and in the historiography of dance. It bases in the study of new, classical and recognised bibliographic references on gender and dance, anthropology of dance and history and practice of dance.

Andorra, història, documentació i arqueologia. Recerca en Època Medieval, dels darrers 30 anys.

Aquest treball de final de grau és una explicació sobre la historiografia del Principat d’Andorra, un petit país dels Pirineus Centrals, entre Espanya i França. La història, l’arqueologia i els reculls documentals que daten d’època medieval, seran l’objecte d’estudi. En aquesta època es posen els fonaments essencials per desenvolupar-se, en un futur com a un Estat. Tot ve configurat per uns pactes del 1278 i del 1288 entre els 2 cosenyors que desenvolupa la seva jurisprudència, la seva activitat econòmica, social i política, converteix els costums i la tradició en els seus valors elementals i es desenvolupa la seva vida quotidiana. I sobre aquestes disciplines s’han fet moltes interpretacions en els últims 30 anys. Saber quin és el seu objectiu, ja sigui per arribar al fet que tots els Andorrans coneguin la seva pròpia historia ,amb la iniciativa de l’Escola Andorrana en els anys 80; o per cercar una base històrica a la naturalesa jurídica i política de les Valls. També explicarem quines són les carències i quines són les recerques més abundants o predominants.

La història contemporània de la llengua catalana com a paradoxa

En aquest article ens proposem demostrar que la història del català del segle XVI ençà està caracteritzada per tres fenòmens sense els quals no podem entendre tampoc la situació actual: reculada en els usos socials de la llengua, baixa cohesió de la comunitat lingüística, i augment de la variació interna i les interferències. Aquestes tres constants, però, s'han corregit en part des de finals del XIX, segons l'àmbit i el territori. Al nostre parer, allò que singularitza el català entre les llengües europees és aquesta combinació paradoxal de reculades i recuperacions durant l'edat contemporània. This paper aims to demonstrate that the history of Catalan from the 16th century onwards is characterized by three phenomena without which the current situation of this language cannot be understood. These three phenomena are regression in social practices, low cohesion of the language community and increase of its internal variation as well as interferences. Nevertheless, those phenomena have been partially mitigated from the late 19th century depending on the domain and area concerned. In our view, what singles out Catalan among all European languages is this paradoxical combination of setbacks and recoveries in the late modern age.

Marcos da história da radioatividade e tendências atuais

The first days of radioactivity, the discoveries of X-rays, radioactivity, of alpha- and beta- particles and gamma- radiation, of new radioactive elements, of artificial radioactivity, the neutron and positron and nuclear fission are reviewed as well as several adverse historical marks, such as the Manhattan project and some nuclear and radiological accidents. Nuclear energy generation in Brazil and the world, as an alternative to minimize environmental problems, is discussed, as are the medicinal, industrial and food applications of ionizing radiation. The text leads the reader to reflect on the subject and to consider its various aspects with scientific and technological maturity.

Baixem de les tarimes i connectem: recerca en història medieval i innovació docent

We would like to introduce our group of research, [CONTRA TAEDIUM], created by professionals from different fields, that have contributed in this article. Our purpose is to expose our reflections based on our own experiences, not only in research, but also in teaching. We propose new forms of writing history in order to understand the dairy life of the women and men of the past, from birth to death. We would like to point out that interacting all types of sources is essential to understand our history. But, what really makes sense is to bring our students in the historical methodology and involve them in their education. Moreover, it is necessary to design new teaching materials using the new technologies, although it requires team-work and a great, but satisfying, effort
