Copper-zinc heterometallic 1D chain coordination polymer has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, and IR spectra etc. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The title complex is 1 D chain coordination polymer with the chemical formula {[CuLZn center dot CuLZn(H2O)]center dot H2O}(n), where H4L=N-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-N'-(3-carboxylsalicylidene)ethylenediamine. Its structural unit is comprosed of two tetranuclear cycles formed by two dissymmetrical tetranuclear units. These units polymerized each other to form 1 D chain coordination polymer.

A copper-strontium heterometallic coordination polymer was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The title complex is a 2 D coordination polymer with the chemical formula [[(CuL)(2)Sr (H2O) center dot Sr-2 ((HO)-O-2)(7)]center dot 2H(2)O center dot 0.5CH(3)OH](n), where H4L = N-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-N'-(3-carboxylsalicylidene) ethylenediamine. Its structural unit is comprised of two adjacent units, which polymerized with each other to form a new layered heterometallic coordination polymer.

The non-covalent complexes between lappaconitine (LA) and beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) have been detected and characterized by electrospray ionization combined with ion trap tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MSn). The experimental results showed that only 1:1 non-covalent complex can be formed in different starting molar ratios of LA to beta-CD. Furthermore, the diagnostic fragmentation of the beta-CD-LA complex, with a significant contribution of covalent fragmentation of LA leaving the N-acetyl anthranoyl (AN) moiety inserted to beta-CD, provided the convincing evidence for the formation of non-covalent complex between LA and beta-CD and the cite of LA molecule included to cavity of beta-CD assigned to AN residue.

IntroductionConventional polymers such as polyethyleneand polypropylene persistfor many years after landdisposal.Furthermore, plastics are often soiled byfood and other biological substances, making phys-ical recycling of those materials impractical andgenerally undesirable. In contrast, biodegradablepolymers disposed in bioactive environment are de-graded by the enzymatic action of microorganismssuch as bacteria, fungi, and algae. The worldwideconsumption of biodegradable polymers increasedfrom1.4×107kg in ...

Monolayer protected gold nanoparticles (MPCs) are the focus of recent research for their stability and are deemed as the building blocks of bottom-up strategies. In this Letter, 3-mercapto-1,2-propanediol monolayer protected gold nanoparticles (MPD-MPCs) were synthesized and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, UV/Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The value of quantized double-layer capacitance (1.13 aF) of MPD-MPCs in aqueous media was obtained by differential pulse voltammograms.

Halfsandwich iron dicarbonyl complex [eta(5)-C5H3(t-Bu)(2)]Fe(CO)(2)Cl(1) reacts with 1, 2-dilithium diseleno carborane Li(2)Se(2)C(2)B(10)H10 (2) to give a binuclear iron carborane complex [eta(5)-C5H3(t-Bu)(2)](2)Fe-2(CO)(3) Se2C2B10H10(3). The X-ray diffraction analysis of complex 3 reveals that one of the iron atoms is chiral.

A new compound [H(2)en](2)[H3O](6)[Co(H2O)(2)(VO)(8)(OH)(4)(PO4)(8)] has been hydrothermally synthesized. Single crystal X-ray analysis indicates that this compound crystallizes in a monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/n with a=1.438 5(3) nm, b=1.012 2(2) nm, c=1.832 5(4) nm, beta=90.21degrees, V=2.668 2 (9) nm(3), Z = 2, D-c = 2.112 g/cm(3), R = 0.055, wR = 0.149 7, S = 1.037. The structure of [H(2)en](2)[H3O](6)[Co(H2O)(2)(VO)(8)(OH)(4)(PO4)(8)] is characterized by P-V-O layers constructed by [(VO)4 (OH)(2)(PO4)(4)](6-) non-symmetric units. The P-V-O layers are pillared by [Co(H2O)(2)](2+) group, resulting in the channels within which the protonated diaminoethane and H3O+ are located.

The half-sandwich methylcyclopentadlenyl iron carbonyl complex reacted with 1,2-dilithium diselenolate carborane Li2Se2C2B10H10 (1) which was produced by the insertion of element Se into 1, 2-dilithium carborane to give a half-sandwich binuclear iron carborane complex Cp'Fe-2(2)(CO) 3Se2C2B10H10 (3). X-ray structural analysis of complex 3 reveals that one of the iron atoms is chiral.

A new series of network liquid crystal polymers were synthesized by graft copolymerization of the difunctional mesogenic monomer 4-allyloxy-benzoyloxy-4'-allyloxybiphenyl (M) upon polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS). Monomer M acted not only as a mesogenic unit but also as a crosslinker for the network polymers. The chemical structures of the polymers were confirmed by IR spectroscopy. DSC, TGA, and X-ray scattering were used to measure their thermal properties and mesogenic properties. The glass transition temperature (T-g) of these network liquid crystal polymers was increased when the monomer was increased, and T-d (temperature of 5% weight loss) at first went up and reached a maximum at P, then went down. The slightly crosslinked polymers (P, P,) show rubber-like elasticity, so it was called liquid-crystal elastomer. Network polymers will lose elasticity property with a highly crosslinked degree, and turn into thermosetting polymers (P-4, P-5). All polymers exhibited a smectic texture by X-ray scattering.

In this paper, the fixing and stretching effect of Ni(phen)(2+)(3) with different concentrations on DNA had been studied by Tapping mode AFM. Under an ambient condition, the high-resolution DNA images were obtained, the average height, width and length of well spread DNA molecules were measured. The results showed that because of the variations of ionic concentration, the density and topography of DNA molecules on substrate had a great difference. The AFM and gel electrophoresis results also showed that, under our experimental condition, DNA molecules kept intact, Ni(phen)(2+)(3) did not catalyze the cleavage activity of EcoRI, therefore, Ni (phen)(2+)(3) would be used to make high-resolution physical mapping of DNA by AFM.

The block copolymer polystyrene-b-poly[2-(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene methacrylate] (PSt-b-PTMSEMA) was synthesized using atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The hydrolysis of PSt-b-PTMSEMA led to the formation of an amphiphilic block copolymer, polystyrene-b-poly(2-hydroxylethyl methacrylate) (PSt-b-PHEMA), which was characterized by GPC and H-1-NMR. TEM showed that the PSt-b-PHEMA formed a micelle, which is PSt as the core and PHEMA as the shell. Under appropriate conditions, the nickel or cobalt ion cause chemical reactions in these micelles and could be reduced easily. ESCA analysis showed that before reduction the metal existed as a hydroxide; after reduction, the metal existed as an oxide, and the metal content of these materials on the surface is more than that on the surface of the copolymer metal ion. XRD analysis showed that the metal existed as a hydroxide before reduction and existed as a metal after reduction.
