Composition problem is considered for partition constrained vertex subsets of n dimensional unit cube E^n . Generating numerical characteristics of E^n subsets partitions is considered by means of the same characteristics in 1 − n dimensional unit cube, and construction of corresponding subsets is given for a special particular case. Using pairs of lower layer characteristic vectors for E^(1-n) more characteristic vectors for E^n are composed which are boundary from one side, and which take part in practical recognition of validness of a given candidate vector of partitions.

Unique temperature dependence of selectively liquid-crystal-filled photonic crystal fibers

We demonstrate a unique temperature-dependent characteristic of the selectively liquid-crystal-filled photonic crystal fiber, which is realized by a selectively infiltrating liquid crystal into a single air hole located at the second ring near the core of the PCF. Three-resonance dips are observed in the transmission spectrum. Theoretical and experimental investigations reveal that the three-resonance dips all result from the coupling between the LP01 core mode and the rod modes, i.e., LP03 and LP51. Then, we find that the dip shift induced by temperature shows good agreements with the thermo-optic performance of the LC employed. Furthermore, the dips shift greatly with changes in temperature, providing a method to achieve temperature measurement in such a compact structure.

Technology in Parkinson's disease:challenges and opportunities

The miniaturization, sophistication, proliferation, and accessibility of technologies are enabling the capture of more and previously inaccessible phenomena in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, more information has not translated into a greater understanding of disease complexity to satisfy diagnostic and therapeutic needs. Challenges include noncompatible technology platforms, the need for wide-scale and long-term deployment of sensor technology (among vulnerable elderly patients in particular), and the gap between the "big data" acquired with sensitive measurement technologies and their limited clinical application. Major opportunities could be realized if new technologies are developed as part of open-source and/or open-hardware platforms that enable multichannel data capture sensitive to the broad range of motor and nonmotor problems that characterize PD and are adaptable into self-adjusting, individualized treatment delivery systems. The International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society Task Force on Technology is entrusted to convene engineers, clinicians, researchers, and patients to promote the development of integrated measurement and closed-loop therapeutic systems with high patient adherence that also serve to (1) encourage the adoption of clinico-pathophysiologic phenotyping and early detection of critical disease milestones, (2) enhance the tailoring of symptomatic therapy, (3) improve subgroup targeting of patients for future testing of disease-modifying treatments, and (4) identify objective biomarkers to improve the longitudinal tracking of impairments in clinical care and research. This article summarizes the work carried out by the task force toward identifying challenges and opportunities in the development of technologies with potential for improving the clinical management and the quality of life of individuals with PD. © 2016 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Közép-kelet-európai kamatswapgörbék dinamikus modellezése

A cikk közép-kelet-európai kamatswapgörbéket, nevezetesen a HUF-, a PLN- és a CZK-hozamgörbéket hasonlítja össze Turc, Ungari és Huang [2009] dinamikus, Nelson–Siegel alapú hozamgörbemodellje és a Kálmán-fi lter segítségével. Az eredmények szerint a cseh piac áll a legközelebb a fejlett országokéhoz modellezhetőség szempontjából, a modell illeszkedése a lengyel mintára szintén elfogadható, ellenben a magyar hozamgörbe viszonylag nehezen modellezhető a kiugróan magas, mintán belüli illeszkedési pontatlanság tanúsága szerint. A modell alkalmas kockázati prémiumok mérésére is. A magyar minta itt is kilóg a sorból: a HUF-swapgörbe kockázati prémiuma erősen ingadozó, és a lengyel és a cseh mintával ellentétben, piaci stresszek idején jelentős mértékben tágul.

Controls on Ecosystem Carbon Dioxide Exchange in Short- and Long-Hydroperiod Florida Everglades Freshwater Marshes

Although freshwater wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems on Earth, little is known of carbon dioxide (CO2) exchange in low latitude wetlands. The Everglades is an extensive, oligotrophic wetland in south Florida characterized by short- and long-hydroperiod marshes. Chamber-based CO2 exchange measurements were made to compare the marshes and examine the roles of primary producers, seasonality, and environmental drivers in determining exchange rates. Low rates of CO2 exchange were observed in both marshes with net ecosystem production reaching maxima of 3.77 and 4.28 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1 in short- and long-hydroperiod marshes, respectively. Fluxes of CO2 were affected by seasonality only in the short-hydroperiod marsh, where flux rates were significantly lower in the wet season than in the dry season. Emergent macrophytes dominated fluxes at both sites, though this was not the case for the short-hydroperiod marsh in the wet season. Water depth, a factor partly under human control, significantly affected gross ecosystem production at the short-hydroperiod marsh. As Everglades ecosystem restoration proceeds, leading to deeper water and longer hydroperiods, productivity in short-hydroperiod marshes will likely be more negatively affected than in long-hydroperiod marshes. The Everglades stand in contrast to many freshwater wetlands because of ecosystem-wide low productivity rates.

Drug Abuse in the Hospitality Industry

Drug and alcohol abuse in the hospitality industry is an ongoing problem, reflective of business as a whole. A series of surveys were conducted at national drug rehabilitation centers seeking information from patients currently or formerly employed in the hotel and restaurant industry. The author identifies a number of problem indicators and makes recommendations relevant to resolutions.

Lean and Mean Do Not Equal Profitable and Hospitable

Lean and mean hospitality organizations are relevant today. The authors explore research findings from Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) studies, in general, and cite findings from the hospitality industry to make the case for lean and loving hospitality organizations.
