Un uso de la historia en la enseñanza de la didáctica de la Física

It is shown the result of design, implement and analyze an exercise for teaching of Didactics of Physics, based on the use of History of Science as an information resource and point of discussion. We start with two assumptions: (1) currently, in the international level there is a research field that studies the use of History, Philosophy and Epistemology of sciences on education of teachers, which present that this field allows to treat contents of Physics in nontraditional ways, that is to say, beyond to the mathematician vision; (2) one of the dimensions that should be worked on education of teachers, specifically in education for teaching, must be, the (re) connaissance of their disciplinary knowledge, through metacognitive exercises, for which History provides appropriate resources. In order to involve the future teacher in a metacognitive activity that would allow (re) visit some of their knowledge of Physics, we developed an exercise based on research results about the history of the light concept. We analyzed the potentialities of this exercise to educate for teaching.

Levinas e a reconstrução da subjetividade ética aproximações com o campo da educação

Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir o conceito de subjetividade em sua relação com a alteridade em educação, com base no pensamento filosófico de Emanuel Levinas. Inicialmente, apresenta a discussão da subjetividade na filosofia moderna e sua forma de concebê-la como ideal de sujeito livre e soberano. Em seguida, desenvolve uma análise crítica que problematiza a pretensa soberania do sujeito e reconstrói uma nova subjetividade ética, situada na condição de refém, capaz de acolher a irredutível alteridade do Outro enquanto ideia do infinito. No contexto de reconstrução da subjetividade, o estudo estabelece aproximações com o campo da educação, destacando a experiência educativa como um acontecimento ético por excelência.

A Survey of Medical College Libraries in Andhra Pradesh, India

Data was collected from 22 selected medical college libraries and 526 undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, using a survey. The article presents a list of findings and recommendations based on them to improve the services of medical college libraries in Andhra Pradesh.

The Use of the Library Catalogue by Undergraduate Students in Niger Delta University Library

This study investigated the use of library catalogue in Niger Delta University library. The study employed descriptive research method and questionnaire as a research instrument to generate the data. The analysis revealed that 168 (51 percent) of the users were not aware of library catalogue, and 160 (54 percent) had never used the catalogue. The study also showed that 209 (71.7 percent) encountered difficulties in using the catalogue because of lack of proper education and, as a result, 202 (68.7 percent) of the users resolved to used browsing/reading through the shelves method to locate books. The analysis also revealed that 202 (68.7 percent) of users indicated that proper user education was a means to easy catalogue use in the library. Recommendations were made to improve effective catalogue use, including user education, regular orientation programme, and preparation of guidelines on use of the library catalogue.
