One leaf containing an unsigned draft of a letter presenting John Lowell's published eulogy of Governor James Bowdoin to the recipient by the order of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The eulogy had been delivered by John Lowell on January 26, 1791.

Small paper notebook with a four-page handwritten list of newspaper articles generally from the New York Herald, Palladium, or Spectator. The article titles indicate various topics such as politics, history, religion, and agriculture and do not suggest a common theme.

[Calculation of student exercises by class, 1790]

One leaf containing unidentified handwritten calculations arranged by class, and for the senior class noting differences in quarters according to "vote" or "regulation." Presumably the calculations reflect the number of academic exercises required of each class.

[Draft of a committee report, 1790]

Two folio-sized leaves containing a handwritten draft of a report of a committee explaining proposed changes to the academic schedule of Harvard undergraduates. The report discusses the rearrangement of lectures, exercises, disputations, and recitations and the specific reasoning behind the changes. The first page of the report is written on the verso of an essay by student Henry Daingerfield titled, "Wishing of all employments is the worst," and the second page of the report is written on the verso of an essay on the importance of teaching morals to the young by Bradstreet Story (later known as Dudley Story Bradstreet, Harvard AB 1792), dated 1790.

[Notes from the minutes of the Board of Overseers, ca. 1799]

Small notebook containing handwritten entries of actions for the years 1718-1799 recorded in Volumes I-IV of the Harvard Board of Overseers formal meeting minutes. The entries note the appointment of Committees of inquiry and votes related to salary increases and allowances.

Surveyors' division of Kittery farm between Nicholas Shapleigh and John Shapleigh, Jan. 12, 1739/40, with paper wrapper from 1798

Paper wrapper reads: "Nicholas Shapleigh & John Shapleigh / Division of farm at Kittery / Recorded January 31st, 1798 / 17 cents duty." The legal document establishing the division of the land is signed by each of the three surveyors: Nicholas Morrell(?), William Fry, and Daniel Emery.
