Pharmacologic activation of the transcription factor NRF2 has been suggested to offer a strategy for cancer prevention. In this study, we present evidence from murine tumorigenesis experiments suggesting there may be limitations to this possibility, based on tumorigenic effects of Nrf2 in murine keratinocytes that have not been described previously. In this setting, Nrf2 expression conferred metabolic alterations in keratinocytes that were protumorigenic in nature, affecting enzymes involved in glutathione biosynthesis or in the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway and other NADPH-producing enzymes. Under stress conditions, coordinate increases in NADPH, purine, and glutathione levels promoted the survival of keratinocytes harboring oncogenic mutations, thereby promoting tumor development. The protumorigenic activity of Nrf2 in keratinocytes was particularly significant in a mouse model of skin tumorigenesis that did not rely upon chemical carcinogenesis. In exploring the clinical relevance of our findings, we confirm that NRF2 and protumorigenic NRF2 target genes were activated in some actinic keratoses, the major precancerous lesion in human skin. Sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis, a rare cause of bowel obstruction, was described as a complication associated with peritoneal dialysis which is much feared because of its severity. The authors report a case where radiological findings in association with clinical symptoms have allowed for a noninvasive diagnosis of sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis, emphasizing the high sensitivity and specificity of computed tomography to demonstrate the characteristic findings of such a condition.

Samlingen teologisk litteratur med signum TF finns vid Teologiska biblioteket. Vid huvudbiblioteket finns teologisk litteratur under signum HB IIc1. Många tusen volymer teologisk litteratur har genom åren donerats till akademibiblioteket och donationer görs allt fortfarande. Bland tidigare donatorer kan som exempel nämnas prostinnan Hortense Grönstrand, häradshövding J.V. Brummer, vicehäradshövding Jon Hartman samt prostarna Konrad Ahlman, Karl Anders Troberg, Viktor Roslin, Theodor von Pfaler, Werner Wirén och C.H. Ekblom. Den teologiska litteraturen söks med sökfunktionen Signum och söktermen TF. Litteratur tryckt före 1980 söks manuellt i en kortkatalog vid Teologiska biblioteket. Retroaktiv inmatning i Alma gör att litteratur tryckt mellan 1830 och 1979 med tiden blir sökbar i Alma.

This work shows the application of ¹H NMR spectroscopy and chemometrics for quality control of grape juice. A wide range of quality assurance parameters were assessed by single ¹H NMR experiments acquired directly from juice. The investigation revealed that conditions and time of storage should be revised and indicated on all labels. The sterilization process of homemade grape juices was efficient, making it possible to store them for long periods without additives. Furthermore, chemometric analysis classified the best commercial grape juices to be similar to homemade grape juices, indicating that this approach can be used to determine the authenticity after adulteration.

A ferrugem da videira foi constatada pela primeira vez no Brasil, ocorrendo em parreirais (Vitis spp.)comerciais no estado do Paraná tendo recentemente atingido também o Estado de São Paulo. O fungo Phakopsora euvitis foi identificado como o agente causal da doença. Esta ferrugem ocorre preferencialmente em folhas maduras causando a desfolha precoce das plantas infetadas.
