João Franco Barreto, escritor português, nasceu em Lisboa em 1600, ignorando-se a data de sua morte. Em 1624, integrou expedição de libertação da Bahia das mãos dos holandeses. Ao regressar a Portugal dedicou-se às letras: escreveu obras como ‘Cyparisso’, ‘Biblioteca Portuguesa’, ‘Ortografia portuguesa’; traduziu a Eneida, de Virgílio; e dirigiu a edição de um Dicionário dos nomes próprios que se encontram nos Lusíadas de Luis de Camões. Segundo Inocêncio, essa tradução de Barreto, publicada em 1763, corresponde à segunda edição, ainda que esta informação não figure no corpo da obra, e ‘seja em demasia parafrástica, e que muitas vezes não reproduza fielmente o sentido do original, em razão das dificuldades da rima, a que o tradutor quis sujeitar-se, todavia, a pureza e correção de linguagem com que foi escrita juntas à louçania do estilo, e a uma versificação quase sempre fluida e harmoniosa, fazem e farão sempre com que este trabalho não seja de todo esquecido, apesar de terem aparecido depois outras versões sem dúvida mais perfeitas’. A coleção, dividida em dois volumes, traz os livros I a Vl e VII a XII. A primeira parte, que corresponde à ‘Odisséia’, narra as viagens de Enéas até a sua chegada à Itália. A segunda, a exemplo da ‘llíada’, descreve as guerras pela conquista do Lácio até a fundação do reino de Lavinio.

Simulation of Natural Gas Production in Hydrate Reservoirs

This paper simulates a one-dimensional physical model of natural gas production from hydrate dissociation in a reservoir by depressurization. According to the principles of solid hydrate decomposition in stratum and flow of natural gas in porous medium, the pressure governing equations for both gas zone and hydrate zone are set up based on the physical production model. Using the approximation reported by N. N. Verigin et al. (1980), the nonlinear governing equations are simplified and the self-similar solutions are obtained. Through calculation, for different reservoir parameters, the distribution characters of pressure are analyzed. The decline trend of natural gas production rate with time is also studied. The simulation results show that production of natural gas from a hydrate reservoir is very sensitive to several reservoir parameters, such as wellbore pressure and stratum porosity and permeability.

Simulation of Vortex-dominant and Turbulent Flows in Natural Environment

In the present talk, the simulation of vortex dominant and turbulent flows are primarily addressed. To cope with complicated circumstances in environmental flows we illustrate the strategy of combining simplified physical model and suitable algorithm by a few examples.

Proceedings of the Eighteenth International Sea Turtle Symposium, 3-7 March 1998, Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico

For the first time in its history, the International Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation migrated to a site outside of the United States. Thus the Eighteenth edition was hosted by the Mazatlán Research Unit of the Instituto de Ciencias del Mar y Limnología of the Mexican National Autonomous University (UNAM) in Mazatlán, Sinaloa (Mexico) where it was held from 3-7, March, 1998. Above all, our symposium is prominent for its dynamism and enthusiasm in bringing together specialists from the world´s sea turtle populations. In an effort to extend this philosophy, and fully aware of how fast the interest in sea turtles has grown, the organizers paid special attention to bring together as many people as possible. With the tremendous efforts of the Travel Committee and coupled with a special interest by the Latin American region´s devotees, we managed to get 653 participants from 43 countries. The number of presentations increased significantly too, reaching a total of 265 papers, ranging from cutting-edge scientific reports based on highly sophisticated methods, to the experiences and successes of community-based and environmental education programs. A priority given by this symposium was the support and encouragement for the construction of "bridges" across cultural and discipline barriers. We found success in achieving a multinational dialogue among interest groups- scientists, resource managers, decision makers, ngo's, private industry. There was a broad representation of the broad interests that stretch across these sectors, yet everyone was able to listen and offer their own best contribution towards the central theme of the Symposium: the conservation of sea turtles and the diversity of marine and coastal environments in which they develop through their complicated and protracted life cycle. Our multidisciplinary approach is highly important at the present, finding ourselves at a cross roads of significant initiatives in the international arena of environmental law, where the conservation of sea turtles has a key role to play. Many, many people worked hard over the previous 12 months, to make the symposium a success. Galeria dos brasileiros illustres traz retratos copiados do natural e litografados das principais figuras brasileiras da política, ciências e letras, com biografias redigidas por diversos escritos da época, por alguns dos próprios biografados ou por membros de suas famílias. Considerada a mais importante de Sisson, esta obra teve tiragem reduzida e muitos exemplares foram desmanchados por antiquários que emolduravam os retratos, vendendo-os por alto preço. Segundo Borba de Moraes, "é muito difícil encontrar-se hoje em dia um exemplar perfeito e em boas condições" e que "só muito raramente aparece um exemplar à venda."

Destinação para as áreas de educação e saúde de parcela da participação no resultado ou da compensação financeira pela exploração de petróleo e gás natural

A presente Nota Técnica, que atende à Solicitação de Trabalho nº 941/2013-COFF/CD, de autoria da Liderança do PDT, visa analisar, do ponto de vista das repercussões orçamentárias e financeiras, as proposições que tiveram como finalidade destinar recursos para as áreas de educação e saúde, decorrentes da exploração de petróleo e gás natural. São apresentadas projeções de arrecadação de receitas para os próximos dez anos e o impacto das destinações pretendidas nas áreas de educação e saúde, notadamente em vista de seus pisos constitucionais e do cumprimento das metas definidas no plano nacional de educação.
