2016 is the outbreak year of the virtual reality industry. In the field of virtual reality, 3D surveying plays an important role. Nowadays, 3D surveying technology has received increasing attention. This project aims to establish and optimize a WebGL three-dimensional broadcast platform combined with streaming media technology. It takes streaming media server and panoramic video broadcast in browser as the application background. Simultaneously, it discusses about the architecture from streaming media server to panoramic media player and analyzing relevant theory problem. This paper focuses on the debugging of streaming media platform, the structure of WebGL player environment, different types of ball model analysis, and the 3D mapping technology. The main work contains the following points: Initially, relay on Easy Darwin open source streaming media server, built a streaming service platform. It can realize the transmission from RTSP stream to streaming media server, and forwards HLS slice video to clients; Then, wrote a WebGL panoramic video player based on Three.js lib with JQuery browser playback controls. Set up a HTML5 panoramic video player; Next, analyzed the latitude and longitude sphere model which from Three.js library according to WebGL rendering method. Pointed out the drawbacks of this model and the breakthrough point of improvement; After that, on the basis of Schneider transform principle, established the Schneider sphere projection model, and converted the output OBJ file to JS file for media player reading. Finally implemented real time panoramic video high precision playing without plugin; At last, I summarized the whole project. Put forward the direction of future optimization and extensible market.

Terrestrial planets produce crusts as they differentiate. The Earth’s bi-modal crust, with a high-standing granitic continental crust and a low-standing basaltic oceanic crust, is unique in our solar system and links the evolution of the interior and exterior of this planet. Here I present geochemical observations to constrain processes accompanying crustal formation and evolution. My approach includes geochemical analyses, quantitative modeling, and experimental studies. The Archean crustal evolution project represents my perspective on when Earth’s continental crust began forming. In this project, I utilized critical element ratios in sedimentary records to track the evolution of the MgO content in the upper continental crust as a function time. The early Archean subaerial crust had >11 wt. % MgO, whereas by the end of Archean its composition had evolved to about 4 wt. % MgO, suggesting a transition of the upper crust from a basalt-like to a more granite-like bulk composition. Driving this fundamental change of the upper crustal composition is the widespread operation of subduction processes, suggesting the onset of global plate tectonics at ~ 3 Ga (Abstract figure). Three of the chapters in this dissertation leverage the use of Eu anomalies to track the recycling of crustal materials back into the mantle, where Eu anomaly is a sensitive measure of the element’s behavior relative to neighboring lanthanoids (Sm and Gd) during crustal differentiation. My compilation of Sm-Eu-Gd data for the continental crust shows that the average crust has a net negative Eu anomaly. This result requires recycling of Eu-enriched lower continental crust to the mantle. Mass balance calculations require that about three times the mass of the modern continental crust was returned into the mantle over Earth history, possibly via density-driven recycling. High precision measurements of Eu/Eu* in selected primitive glasses of mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB) from global MORs, combined with numerical modeling, suggests that the recycled lower crustal materials are not found within the MORB source and may have at least partially sank into the lower mantle where they can be sampled by hot spot volcanoes. The Lesser Antilles Li isotope project provides insights into the Li systematics of this young island arc, a representative section of proto-continental crust. Martinique Island lavas, to my knowledge, represent the only clear case in which crustal Li is recycled back into their mantle source, as documented by the isotopically light Li isotopes in Lesser Antilles sediments that feed into the fore arc subduction trench. By corollary, the mantle-like Li signal in global arc lavas is likely the result of broadly similar Li isotopic compositions between the upper mantle and bulk subducting sediments in most arcs. My PhD project on Li diffusion mechanism in zircon is being carried out in extensive collaboration with multiple institutes and employs analytical, experimental and modeling studies. This ongoing project, finds that REE and Y play an important role in controlling Li diffusion in natural zircons, with Li partially coupling to REE and Y to maintain charge balance. Access to state-of-art instrumentation presented critical opportunities to identify the mechanisms that cause elemental fractionation during laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) analysis. My work here elucidates the elemental fractionation associated with plasma plume condensation during laser ablation and particle-ion conversion in the ICP.

Proper organ patterning depends on a tight coordination between cell proliferation and differentiation. The patterning of Drosophila retina occurs both very fast and with high precision. This process is driven by the dynamic changes in signaling activity of the conserved Hedgehog (Hh) pathway, which coordinates cell fate determination, cell cycle and tissue morphogenesis. Here we show that during Drosophila retinogenesis, the retinal determination gene dachshund (dac) is not only a target of the Hh signaling pathway, but is also a modulator of its activity. Using developmental genetics techniques, we demonstrate that dac enhances Hh signaling by promoting the accumulation of the Gli transcription factor Cubitus interruptus (Ci) parallel to or downstream of fused. In the absence of dac, all Hh-mediated events associated to the morphogenetic furrow are delayed. One of the consequences is that, posterior to the furrow, dac- cells cannot activate a Roadkill-Cullin3 negative feedback loop that attenuates Hh signaling and which is necessary for retinal cells to continue normal differentiation. Therefore, dac is part of an essential positive feedback loop in the Hh pathway, guaranteeing the speed and the accuracy of Drosophila retinogenesis.

PURPOSE: The goal of the present study was to use a three-dimensional (3D) gradient echo volume in combination with a fat-selective excitation as a 3D motion navigator (3D FatNav) for retrospective correction of microscopic head motion during high-resolution 3D structural scans of extended duration. The fat excitation leads to a 3D image that is itself sparse, allowing high parallel imaging acceleration factors - with the additional advantage of a minimal disturbance of the water signal used for the host sequence. METHODS: A 3D FatNav was inserted into two structural protocols: an inversion-prepared gradient echo at 0.33 × 0.33 × 1.00 mm resolution and a turbo spin echo at 600 μm isotropic resolution. RESULTS: Motion estimation was possible with high precision, allowing retrospective motion correction to yield clear improvements in image quality, especially in the conspicuity of very small blood vessels. CONCLUSION: The highly accelerated 3D FatNav allowed motion correction with noticeable improvements in image quality, even for head motion which was small compared with the voxel dimensions of the host sequence. Molecular simulation provides a powerful tool for connecting molecular-level processes to physical observables. However, the facility to make those connections relies upon the application and development of theoretical methods that permit appropriate descriptions of the systems or processes to be studied. In this thesis, we utilize molecular simulation to study and predict two phenomena with very different theoretical challenges, beginning with (1) lithium-ion transport behavior in polymers and following with (2) equilibrium isotope effects with relevance to position-specific and clumped isotope studies. In the case of ion transport in polymers, there is motivation to use molecular simulation to provide guidance in polymer electrolyte design, but the length and timescales relevant for ion diffusion in polymers preclude the use of direct molecular dynamics simulation to compute ion diffusivities in more than a handful of candidate systems. In the case of equilibrium isotope effects, the thermodynamic driving forces for isotopic fractionation are often fundamentally quantum mechanical in nature, and the high precision of experimental instruments demands correspondingly accurate theoretical approaches. Herein, we describe respectively coarse-graining and path-integral strategies to address outstanding questions in these two subject areas.

The general objective of this thesis has been seasonal monitoring (quarterly time scale) of coastal and estuarine areas of a section of the Northern Coast of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, environmentally sensitive and with intense sediment erosion in the oil activities to underpin the implementation of projects for containment of erosion and mitigate the impacts of coastal dynamics. In order to achieve the general objective, the work was done systematically in three stages which consisted the specific objectives. The first stage was the implementation of geodetic reference infrastructure for carrying out the geodetic survey of the study area. This process included the implementation of RGLS (Northern Coast of the RN GPS Network), consisting of stations with geodetic coordinates and orthometric heights of precision; positioning of Benchmarks and evaluation of the gravimetric geoid available, for use in GPS altimetry of precision; and development of software for GPS altimetry of precision. The second stage was the development and improvement of methodologies for collection, processing, representation, integration and analysis of CoastLine (CL) and Digital Elevation Models (DEM) obtained by geodetic positioning techniques. As part of this stage have been made since, the choice of equipment and positioning methods to be used, depending on the required precision and structure implanted, and the definition of the LC indicator and of the geodesic references best suited, to coastal monitoring of precision. The third step was the seasonal geodesic monitoring of the study area. It was defined the execution times of the geodetic surveys by analyzing the pattern of sediment dynamics of the study area; the performing of surveys in order to calculate and locate areas and volumes of erosion and accretion (sandy and volumetric sedimentary balance) occurred on CL and on the beaches and islands surfaces throughout the year, and study of correlations between the measured variations (in area and volume) between each survey and the action of the coastal dynamic agents. The results allowed an integrated study of spatial and temporal interrelationships of the causes and consequences of intensive coastal processes operating in the area, especially to the measurement of variability of erosion, transport, balance and supply sedimentary over the annual cycle of construction and destruction of beaches. In the analysis of the results, it was possible to identify the causes and consequences of severe coastal erosion occurred on beaches exposed, to analyze the recovery of beaches and the accretion occurring in tidal inlets and estuaries. From the optics of seasonal variations in the CL, human interventions to erosion contention have been proposed with the aim of restoring the previous situation of the beaches in the process of erosion.

Electrical Bus Rapid Transit (eBRT) is a charging electrical public transport which brings a clean, high performance, and affordable cost alternative from the conventional traffic vehicles which work with combustion and hybrid technology. These buses charge the battery in every bus stop to arrive at the next station. But, this charging system needs an appropriate infrastructure called pantograph, and it requires a high precision bus location to maintain battery lifetime, energy saving and charging time. To overcome this issue Vicomtech and Datik has planned a project based on computer vision to help to the driver to locate the vehicle in the correct place. In this document, we present a mono camera bus driver guided fast algorithm because these vehicles embedded computers do not support high computation and precision operations. In addition to the frequent lane sign, there are more accurate geometric beacons painted on the road to bring metric information to the vision system. This method uses segmentation to binarize the image discriminating the background space. Besides it detects, tracks and counts different lane mark contours in addition to classify each special painted mark. Besides it does not need any calibration task to calculate longitudinal and cross distances because we know the lane mark sizes.

In the study of the spatial characteristics of the visual channels, the power spectrum model of visual masking is one of the most widely used. When the task is to detect a signal masked by visual noise, this classical model assumes that the signal and the noise are previously processed by a bank of linear channels and that the power of the signal at threshold is proportional to the power of the noise passing through the visual channel that mediates detection. The model also assumes that this visual channel will have the highest ratio of signal power to noise power at its output. According to this, there are masking conditions where the highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) occurs in a channel centered in a spatial frequency different from the spatial frequency of the signal (off-frequency looking). Under these conditions the channel mediating detection could vary with the type of noise used in the masking experiment and this could affect the estimation of the shape and the bandwidth of the visual channels. It is generally believed that notched noise, white noise and double bandpass noise prevent off-frequency looking, and high-pass, low-pass and bandpass noises can promote it independently of the channel's shape. In this study, by means of a procedure that finds the channel that maximizes the SNR at its output, we performed numerical simulations using the power spectrum model to study the characteristics of masking caused by six types of one-dimensional noise (white, high-pass, low-pass, bandpass, notched, and double bandpass) for two types of channel's shape (symmetric and asymmetric). Our simulations confirm that (1) high-pass, low-pass, and bandpass noises do not prevent the off-frequency looking, (2) white noise satisfactorily prevents the off-frequency looking independently of the shape and bandwidth of the visual channel, and interestingly we proved for the first time that (3) notched and double bandpass noises prevent off-frequency looking only when the noise cutoffs around the spatial frequency of the signal match the shape of the visual channel (symmetric or asymmetric) involved in the detection. In order to test the explanatory power of the model with empirical data, we performed six visual masking experiments. We show that this model, with only two free parameters, fits the empirical masking data with high precision. Finally, we provide equations of the power spectrum model for six masking noises used in the simulations and in the experiments.

Six hundred twenty-one samples from Portugal, the Cabo Verde archipelago, and Guinea-Bissau were typed for HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLADRB1usingthepolymerasechainreaction–sequence-specificoligonucleotide probe (PCR-SSOP) method and the sequence-based typing (SBT) method to characterizeandcomparediscrepanciesbetweenthetwomethods.Fifty-three alleles (4.27% of 1,242 chromosomes typed) identified by the PCR-SSOP method were not concordant with the results obtained using the SBT method. Thirty-four (2.74% of total chromosomes typed) PCR-SSOP mistyping results were discrepancies inside the same allele group and 19 others (1.53% of total chromosomes typed) were relative to nonconcordant results between different groups. PCR-SSOP allele mistyping is the result of interpretation difficulties resulting from less intense, absent, or dubious hybridization patterns. Noncommercial PCR-SSOP procedures are highly exigent on the technicians’ experience and the availability of properly calibrated high-precision equipment.

The research activities involved the application of the Geomatic techniques in the Cultural Heritage field, following the development of two themes: Firstly, the application of high precision surveying techniques for the restoration and interpretation of relevant monuments and archaeological finds. The main case regards the activities for the generation of a high-fidelity 3D model of the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna. In this work, aimed to the restoration of the manufacture, both the geometrical and radiometrical aspects were crucial. The final product was the base of a 3D information system representing a shared tool where the different figures involved in the restoration activities shared their contribution in a multidisciplinary approach. Secondly, the arrangement of 3D databases for a Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach, in a process which involves the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of historical buildings, towards a so-called Historical Building Information Model (HBIM). A first application was conducted for the San Michele in Acerboli’s church in Santarcangelo di Romagna. The survey was performed by the integration of the classical and modern Geomatic techniques and the point cloud representing the church was used for the development of a HBIM model, where the relevant information connected to the building could be stored and georeferenced. A second application regards the domus of Obellio Firmo in Pompeii, surveyed by the integration of the classical and modern Geomatic techniques. An historical analysis permitted the definitions of phases and the organization of a database of materials and constructive elements. The goal is the obtaining of a federate model able to manage the different aspects: documental, analytic and reconstructive ones.

In order to estimate depth through supervised deep learning-based stereo methods, it is necessary to have access to precise ground truth depth data. While the gathering of precise labels is commonly tackled by deploying depth sensors, this is not always a viable solution. For instance, in many applications in the biomedical domain, the choice of sensors capable of sensing depth at small distances with high precision on difficult surfaces (that present non-Lambertian properties) is very limited. It is therefore necessary to find alternative techniques to gather ground truth data without having to rely on external sensors. In this thesis, two different approaches have been tested to produce supervision data for biomedical images. The first aims to obtain input stereo image pairs and disparities through simulation in a virtual environment, while the second relies on a non-learned disparity estimation algorithm in order to produce noisy disparities, which are then filtered by means of hand-crafted confidence measures to create noisy labels for a subset of pixels. Among the two, the second approach, which is referred in literature as proxy-labeling, has shown the best results and has even outperformed the non-learned disparity estimation algorithm used for supervision.

From 2010, the Proton Radius has become one of the most interest value to determine. The first proof of not complete understanding of its internal structure was the measurement of the Lamb Shift using the muonic hydrogen, leading to a value 7σ lower. A new road so was open and the Proton Radius Puzzle epoch begun. FAMU Experiment is a project that tries to give an answer to this Puzzle implementing high precision experimental apparatus. The work of this thesis is based on the study, construction and first characterization of a new detection system. Thanks to the previous experiments and simulations, this apparatus is composed by 17 detectors positioned on a semicircular crown with the related electronic circuit. The detectors' characterization is based on the use of a LabView program controlling a digital potentiometer and on other two analog potentiometers, all three used to set the amplitude of each detector to a predefined value, around 1.2 V, set on the oscilloscope by which is possible to observe the signal. This is the requirement in order to have, in the final measurement, a single high peak given by the sum of all the signals coming from the detectors. Each signal has been acquired for almost half of an hour, but the entire circuit has been maintained active for more time to observe its capacity to work for longer periods. The principal results of this thesis are given by the spectra of 12 detectors and the corresponding values of Voltages, FWHM and Resolution. The outcomes of the acquisitions show also another expected behavior: the strong dependence of the detectors from the temperature, demonstrating that an its change causes fluctuations in the signal. In turn, these fluctuations will affect the spectrum, resulting in a shifting of the curve and a lower Resolution. On the other hand, a measurement performed in stable conditions will lead to accordance between the nominal and experimental measurements, as for the detectors 10, 11 and 12 of our system.

The decomposition of Feynman integrals into a basis of independent master integrals is an essential ingredient of high-precision theoretical predictions, that often represents a major bottleneck when processes with a high number of loops and legs are involved. In this thesis we present a new algorithm for the decomposition of Feynman integrals into master integrals with the formalism of intersection theory. Intersection theory is a novel approach that allows to decompose Feynman integrals into master integrals via projections, based on a scalar product between Feynman integrals called intersection number. We propose a new purely rational algorithm for the calculation of intersection numbers of differential $n-$forms that avoids the presence of algebraic extensions. We show how expansions around non-rational poles, which are a bottleneck of existing algorithms for intersection numbers, can be avoided by performing an expansion in series around a rational polynomial irreducible over $\mathbb{Q}$, that we refer to as $p(z)-$adic expansion. The algorithm we developed has been implemented and tested on several diagrams, both at one and two loops.

The use of robotic vehicles for environmental modeling is discussed. This paper presents diverse results in autonomous marine missions with the ROAZ autonomous surface vehicle. The vehicle can perform autonomous missions while gathering marine data with high inertial and positioning precision. The underwater world is an, economical and environmental, asset that need new tools to study and preserve it. ROAZ is used in marine environment missions since it can sense and monitor the surface and underwater scenarios. Is equipped with a diverse set of sensors, cameras and underwater sonars that generate 3D environmental models. It is used for study the marine life and possible underwater wrecks that can pollute or be a danger to marine navigation. The 3D model and integration of multibeam and sidescan sonars represent a challenge in nowadays. Adding that it is important that robots can explore an area and make decisions based on their surroundings and goals. Regard that, autonomous robotic systems can relieve human beings of repetitive and dangerous tasks.
