In this paper, the advantages of using L-shaped microviij) feed to e.tcite a rectangular dielectric resonator cuuenna (DRA) by elemanagnetic coupling are presented. This feeding technique enhances the hardsvidth and gain of the antenna without affecting its size. The experimental re srdts are validated using Fidelity software based on the finitedifference tine-domain (FDTD) method

In this paper, we present an effective excitation of a reelangular dielectric resonator antennas (DRA) with a conductor-hacked coplanar waveguide (CB-CPW). The radiation and resonance characteristics are found to van,, depending on the orientation of the DR on doe coplanar feed line. The effect of finite and infinite ground planes of CB-CPIV on the radiation characteristics of the rectangular DRA is studied. The orientation and position of the DR are optimized for maximum gain and bandwidth. The optimized antenna ,geometry offers --10.46 dBi gain and 7.5% bandwidth with low cross-polar radiation characteristics

A simple technique to improve the impedance bandwidth of a circular microstrip patch antenna using two sectorial slots is proposed. Using this design more than 5% impedance bandwidth is obtained. The added advantage of this new antenna is that it can be fed by a 50 microstrip line.

Design and development of a new feed -horn antenna with low sidelobe levels is reported . The E-walls of this antenna are fabricated with low -loss dielectric substrate , periodically loaded with thin conducting strips . The antenna is found to be simulating the radiation characteristics of metallic corrugated horns . This can be an ideal substitute for metallic corrugated horns with added advantages like light -weight and low production cost.

The impedance bandwidth of a high permittivity cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna excited by a micro strip line was significantly improved by modifying the feed geometry. The 10 dB return loss bandwidth is enhanced from 12 to 26% without much affecting the gain and other radiation properties of the antenna. Good agreement has been observed between the predicted and measured results

A compact single - feed muttiband planar antenna configuration suitable for GPS, DCS. 2.4/5.8 GHz WLAN applications is presented. The antenna has dimensions 38 x 3 x 1.6 mm and offers good radiation and reflection characteristics in the above frequency bands. The antenna has a simple geometry and can be easily fed using a 50 coaxial probe.

The thesis is the outcome of the experimental and theoretical investigations on a new compact drum-shaped microstrip antenna. A new compact antenna suitable for personal communication system(PCS), Global position System(GPS) and array applications is developed and analysed. The generalised cavity model and spatial fourier transform technique are suitably modified for the analysis of the antenna. The predicted results are compared with experimental results and excellent agreement is observed. The experimental work done by the author in related fields are incorporated as three appendices in this thesis. A single feed dual frequency microstrip antenne is presented in appendix A.Appendix B describes a new broadband dual frequeny microstrip antenna. The bandwidth enhancement effect of microstrip antennas through dielectric resonator loading is demonstarted in Appendix C.

Design of a compact microstrip-fed ultra-wideband antenna suitable for USB dongle and other such space constraint applications is presented. The structure consists of a pentagonal monopole element and a modified ground plane that gives an impedance bandwidth from 2.8 to 12 GHz. Radiation patterns are stable and omni-directional throughout the band with an average gain of 2.84 dBi. The antenna occupies only 11 × 30 mm2 on FR4 substrate with permittivity 4.4.

Nanosized ZnO was prepared by polyol synthesis. Fluorescence spectrum of the ZnO colloid at varying pump intensities was studied. The powder was extracted and characterized by XRD and BET. The extracted powder was screen printed on glass substrates using ethyl cellulose as binder and turpinol as solvent. Coherent back scattering studies were performed on the screen printed sample which showed evidence of weak localization. The screen printed pattern showed strong UV emission.
