This paper presents a proposal for the teaching of cataloguing, emphasizing the problem-solving methodology. The proposal was designed for the distance-based continuing education of the professional cataloguer. It takes into account the challenges inherent to the development of interactive and inter-disciplinary tasks, as well as the development of directed self-education and critical consciousness of that professional, inasmuch as he becomes an active subject, manager of his/her own education.

This study presents the results from a qualitative resource, based on research-action methodology, which examined the innovate teaching practices implementations in the Calculus I during 2011 year. The analysis of collected data from three used sources – an initial questionnaire, an exploratory-investigative classroom, and an interview with some students at the end of the second semester – reveals that the students had appropriated of the technological recourses, using it as a tool to look for the knowledge. The investigative activities with the use of information technologies made the use of multiple representations in solving mathematical tasks, making the transition of numerical, algebraic and geometrical results possible for the students when they have looking for validation of their hypotheses and conjectures during mathematical problems solving. This works helped in the insertion of new practices in the discipline, and their results validate the proposal presented by the teacher, which is the discipline of Calculus use, whose character is strongly linked to the training content of the student, as a discipline whose can contributed to the pedagogical formation of the graduation student, leading him to know the Mathematical Education possibilities, specially the Mathematical Investigation - Solving Problems, in the outlook of dialogued classes where the teacher assumes the facilitator role and where the students become actives in their pursuit of knowledge

When I set out to attend degree in mathematics was because I believed that mathematics could be taught to students in a way closer to their daily lives, thereby making it a more attractive school discipline, gradually, eliminating its reputation of a difficult school subject. Then, during my observations in supervised, I realized that one of the greatest difficulties in mathematics was related with geometry, in which the concepts of area and perimeter were often confused. Using the methodological tool of problem solving, something to bring the concept to be developed and the cultural context in which the student is in, I developed some educational activities in which, using concrete materials, students were encouraged to construct their own knowledge about the concepts of area and perimeter. Moreover, such activities were designed to place the student as the center of attention in the classroom. The main objective of this work is to encourage and observe how this methodology, based on the solving problem process, can be used within the classroom, to better understand the concepts to be taught, always looking for improvement of the student learning

Dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the educational processes of the traditional teaching has always existed, and new teaching methods have been routinely studied. The experimental investigative activity is one of those alternative practices. In this type of activity the experimentation is inserted with an investigative approach, in which the student must build the concept, with proposals that represent solutions to the excited problems. In the teaching of chemistry, specifically, the need and importance of experimentation is evident, beyond motivate students, aid in the understanding of chemical concepts relating them to reality. Realizing the contributions of this methodology for teaching and learning, through this research was conducted to understand the difficulties encountered by teachers for planning and implementation of these activities in the teaching of chemistry and therefore the reasons for the dominance of traditional teaching method. The subjects were undergraduate students of chemistry course that developed and implemented differentiated learning activities for teaching and teachers who accompanied the high school students who participated in the university extension project Inclusion Science and University students and teachers from public: Teaching and Learning Chemistry focuses on research and practice”. Through the data it was possible to identify some factors that affect and hinder the implementation of experimental activities in general, not only the investigative. However, despite the difficulties experienced by undergraduates, the majority considered the activity as an alternative teaching method interesting and innovative, able to produce interest, motivation and participation of students with subsequent learning. In today's competitive environment the search for continuous improvement becomes an important factor for maintaining competitiveness. The present work aims to enable the reduction in the number of interruptions of production in a wire drawing mill, with the method of analysis and problem solving (MASP) and the use of quality tools. In this study, it was observed that the use of quality tools is indispensable when it comes to routine management or process improvement because it will enable the identification of improvement opportunities, as well as the definition of an action plan

The financial health of a family is one of the main generators of quality of life, and this is only possible through financial planning, which is nothing more than save and analyze before contracting debts. To do this, students must have notion of financial mathematics, especially of that used by the banks on overdraft interest, in investments and in the short-term and longterm loans, that is, compound interest, equivalent rates, depreciation and others. Starting from the knowledge of arithmetic and geometric progressions and, based on real situations which allow the application of the content learned, one intends to develop activities applied to high education. To start from real situations is one of the main lines of thought of the Problem Solving Methodology, in which the student is the active agent in the construction of his or her knowledge. As the National Curricular Parameters point out, the practice in the use of computers is essential for gaining a job. Therefore, this project proposes an activity where knowledge of Financial Mathematics can to be practiced, associated with the use of Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet

The competitiveness in the industrial sector is increasingly fierce. In this context, the quality of maintenance is often neglected due to the sense of urgency that arises in these companies. Thus, it becomes increasingly necessary to use tools of Reliability Centered Maintenance to assist in managing maintenance effectively and efficiently, and directing resources .This study aims to evaluate the use of the fault tree to identify critical paths in the maintenance sector in an industry. The proposal is uses the tools of Reliability Centered Maintenance (MCC) for the collection, disposal and prioritizing causes problems in the transport industry. This study's aim was to verify coping strategies among children aged between 7 and 12 years old who will be experiencing surgery and the potential relationship of coping strategies with sociodemographic variables, stress in children and in companions, and the child's prior experience with surgery. A total of 58 children hospitalized and waiting for elective surgeries responded to the Assessment Instrument of Coping to Hospitalization and an instrument to assess stress. The companion received a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Lipp Stress Symptom Inventory. Problem-solving strategies and distraction were the most frequent strategies used, while social withdrawal and opposition were the least frequent. Girls and children of stressful parents used emotion regulation strategies with significantly more frequency. Likewise, greater cognitive restructuring was observed in older children and those with prior experience with surgeries. The results show the need to consider the studied variables when developing pre-operative preparation programs.

This paper presents an alternative way of working with the theme of symmetry in the elementary school classroom. The proposal is based on qualitative research developed in the Professional Masters degree program in Science and Mathematics Teaching. We conducted field-work consisting of applying a sequence of activities for students in the seventh grade. The sequence was developed from the perspective of mathematics teaching using problem solving, taking into consideration aspects relevant to the study of geometry, such as intuition and visualization. In carrying out the activities, the dialogues between students and teacher were recorded and later transcribed. For data analysis we used the procedures of phenomenology. When interpreting the data, we observed that the teaching of symmetry using problem-solving enhances learning. We also found that, in an investigative environment, students are able to identify properties, argue about the geometric characteristics, and justify their opinions.
