Biologia reprodutiva de Melocactus glaucescens Buining & Brederoo e M. paucispinus G. Heimen & R. Paul (Cactaceae), na Chapada Diamantina, Nordeste do Brasil

Foi estudada a biologia reprodutiva de Melocactus glaucescens e M. paucispinus (Cactaceae) no Munic��pio de Morro do Chap��u, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, sendo abordados aspectos da fenologia, biologia floral, poliniza����o e sistema reprodutivo. Foram registrados os per��odos de flora����o e frutifica����o, visitantes florais, freq����ncia e tipo de visitas, al��m de estrat��gia e comportamento dos visitantes ��s flores. Foram realizadas poliniza����es experimentais para verificar o sistema reprodutivo das esp��cies. As duas esp��cies de Melocactus estudadas apresentaram sobreposi����o de flora����o ao longo do per��odo de estudo. Os atributos florais de ambas as esp��cies s��o t��picos da s��ndrome da ornitofilia: cores atrativas, estrutura tubulosa e produ����o de n��ctar com baixa concentra����o de solutos, entre 20% e 30%. O beija-flor Chlorostilbon aureoventris Boucier & Mulsant (1948) foi o visitante mais freq��ente, com 82% e 89% do total de visitas para M. paucispinus e M. glaucescens, respectivamente. Outras esp��cies de beija-flores e borboletas tamb��m visitaram as flores das esp��cies. A sobreposi����o no per��odo de flora����o e a similaridade na composi����o da guilda de polinizadores destas e demais esp��cies simp��tricas de Melocactus favorece a hibrida����o no g��nero, como foi observado na regi��o. Melocactus glaucescens apresentou auto-incompatibilidade e alogamia, enquanto M. paucispinus �� auto-compat��vel e autog��mica, por��m com menor frutifica����o em autopoliniza����o do que em poliniza����o cruzada, possivelmente devido �� ocorr��ncia de depress��o endog��mica. Poliniza����es interespec��ficas indicam a ocorr��ncia de inter-compatibilidade entre M. paucispinus e M. concinnus Buining & Brederoo, sustentando hip��teses correntes de hibrida����o entre estas esp��cies.

Paul and death : a study in psychological coping

The present investigation looks into the attitudes toward death in Paul���s authentic letters, and puts them in relation to modern theories of psychological coping. Drawing on psychologically-oriented hermeneutic theory, and theories about psychological coping in particular, I argue that each case of psychological coping must be understood in its historical situation as strategies emanating from a specific person���s subjective appraisal (cf. Pargament, Lazarus and Folkman). Paul���s letters frequently refer to persecution and violent death. To aid in psychological coping is often integral to the purpose of the letters, which makes the perspective of psychological coping akin to their genre. In the course of a tentatively assumed chronological order of 1 Thessalonians, Galatians, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Romans, Philippians, and Philemon, Paul moves from the perception of Jesus dying for the faithful to the understanding of dying with Jesus. His coping strategies concerning death are gradually transformed from conservative and deferring coping styles, to a more self-directing coping style, to collaborative and transformative coping styles, and finally to a new sense of deferring coping style in prison. The last case of deferring coping carries the traits of generosity and flexibility even in the face of death, which is in contrast to his previous letters. Through his correspondence, we see Paul���s attitude toward death transformed from denial to reaction, to processing, to acceptance (cf. Lindemann, K��bler-Ross, Bowlby, Parkes, among others). His strategies also shift in accordance with these understandings. Denial is accompanied by diversion, threat by aggression, processing by rumination, and acceptance by joy. The study shows the hermeneutic benefits of reading Paul���s letters as the rhetorically framed expressions of a person in a particular historical situation. The letters open small windows through which we can glimpse the coping process of a person of antiquity. In adopting the method of psychological exegesis, the study shows that the variety of attitudes toward death in Paul���s letters makes sense from the perspective of psychological coping. The psychological aspect of these letters is an underexamined richness that can extend into areas of contemporary individual and group identity, and from there to public policy and ethics.

O objetivo deste trabalho �� tecer considera����es sobre as bases te��ricas da Fenomenologia Hermen��utica de Paul Ricoeur. Para isso, partimos do esbo��o de alguns aspectos da Fenomenologia em Heidegger e discutimos certas faces da distin����o entre as concep����es de Ricoeur e Heidegger quanto �� fundamenta����o da Hermen��utica na Fenomenologia, trabalhando com a Fenomenologia Estrutural e a Fenomenologia Hermen��utica.
