The syndrome of Gilles de la Tourette (ST) can cause marked distress in several areas of functioning. The literature indicates that children with TS may present diffi culties in relationships with teachers and peers. This case study exploration aimed to discover and describe the perceptions of parents and teachers of child with TS enrolled in regular school, regarding the child-school relationships. Interviews were conducted with parents of a 8 years-old child, diagnosed with ST and three educators. Participant observation of everyday children’s school was also performed. The set of reports reveals doubts on the part of respondents to identify involuntary behaviors of the child or to identify intentional actions. It was observed that there is still no connection between parents and educators in meeting the needs of the child. It is assumed that intervention strategies in a multidisciplinary perspective could help parents, educators and health care professionals act in a coordinated way in order to improve the school and social interaction of the child.

To students with special educational needs participate actively at school are required effective and systematic investment, involving the school community as a whole. The occupational therapist is one of the professionals who can facilitate this student inclusion process. This study aimed to discuss the occupational therapy intervention effects with two disability children with deficits in visual perceptual skills, motor coordination and visual motor integration, that was included in regular education. The Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration was use to evaluate visual perceptual skills, motor coordination and visual-motor integration. Because the deficits presented in the functions investigates was identified the need of an occupational therapy intervention program designed to improve the performance in theses functions. After the program, the test was reapplied. The results pointed to an improvement of all functions considered deficient. These results highlight to the training importance to improve the performance in abilities evaluated.

Individuals with autism are often unable to communicate through speech, and the ones that are able to speak sometimes cannot begin or to maintain a conversation. This article presents a case study that observed the communicative profile of a young student with autism interacting with his teacher during classroom activities using adapted PECS. The results demonstrated that the autistic student enhanced communicative initiatives in the interaction with his teacher, and the augmentative and alternative communication system was a facilitating tool used in the communicative learning process.

Estudou-se o efeito da inoculação com fungo micorrízico arbuscular (FMA), Glomus etunicatum, Glomus clarum, ou Scutelospora heterogama, e da adição de fósforo solúvel (15, 30, 45, 60, 120 e 240 mg de P kg-1 de terra) sobre as variáveis altura, número de folhas, diâmetro do caule, massas vegetais aérea e radicular, teores de nutrientes nas folhas e colonização micorrízica no porta-enxerto limoeiro Cravo (Citrus limonia (L.) Osbeck). Os FMAs, Glomus etunicatum e Glomus clarum, e doses crescentes de fósforo exerceram efeitos significativos sobre essas variáveis. O efeito da inoculação sobre as variáveis de crescimento vegetal foi mais acentuado nos tratamentos com adição de 30 a 60 mg de P kg-1 de terra. Para o teor de P foliar, o efeito da inoculação foi mais acentuado nos tratamentos adicionados de 120 a 240 mg de P kg-1 de terra. A inoculação com estes FMAs aumentou a eficiência do limoeiro Cravo em absorver nutrientes, tanto que as variáveis estudadas em plantas inoculadas na ausência de adubação fosfática superaram às de plantas não inoculadas em substrato adicionado de 240 mg de P kg-1 de terra.

Speech has been regarded as a social communicative modality required for building relationships in different contexts and cultures. Nevertheless, this is not always a readily available resource, especially for those who have developmental disorders. In this sense, Augmentative and Alternative Communication resources and strategies have been used by nonspeaking students with disabilities as useful tools to achieve greater social participation in different environments. Therefore, the present study examined the interaction between teachers and a student with cerebral palsy before and after the use of Alternative Communication strategies in the classroom. The study had a quantitative and qualitative nature and was designed as an intervention study. There were four main stages: 1) filming before the introduction of the resources in the classroom, 2) training the school teachers 3) providing technical assistance regarding the use of alternative communication to the child's teacher 4) filming teacher-student interactions using these technological resources. The interactions were transcribed and grouped into links. In this research, a link means the initiator's behavior directed to the exchange partner and the response in sequence from the interlocutor back to the initiator. It was found that the established interactions presented a maximum of four links, with greater frequency for episodes of 1st and 2nd links. After the intervention, there were different contexts with the presence of interactions up to the 6th link, often greater frequency for episodes of 1st, 2nd and 3rd links. In addition, the teacher showed a tendency to use symbols only as a tool for evaluating and teaching concepts. This perception changed as the teacher became familiarized with the Augmentative and Alternative Communication technology resources.

Marine turtles are reptiles that occur on the Brazilian coast and can travel very large distances between feeding and nesting grounds. Five species found in Brazil are threatened. The consumption of turtle meat and eggs is an ancient habit in many coastal communities around the world. The main causes that threaten these species are the increase in fishing and the drastic changes in the environment. The presence of turtles near the beaches and their accidental capture were reported by fishermen in the region of Cananéia, where this work was developed. This study was also made based in interviews of fishermen that living in the area and the follow up of their fishing activities. This methodology made possible to identify the turtles in the area, the behavior of the fishermen with these animals and the relation between non-commercial fishing and turtles. The fishing traps area has a direct relation with the capture of turtles. The higher incidence of turtle capture is usually next to islands, rocky coasts, low lands and bay entrances, which are areas where the most common species of the region (Chelonia mydas) normally look for food. The fishermen opinions about the critical situation of these species and their conservation has also been studied. Several programs in Environmental Education for the communities of the region have been recommended

A extensão é compreendida como uma interação entre a Universidade e a comunidade na qual está inserida e como uma via de mão dupla onde a Universidade leva conhecimentos e/ou assistência à comunidade e recebe dela influxos positivos e reais necessidades, ou seja, constitui-se uma relação de troca de conhecimentos. As atividades de extensão desenvolvidas no Instituto de Biociências (IB) da UNESP - Campus Botucatu, por meio de projetos, são diversificadas quanto ao público alvo, quanto ao local de realização e também quanto aos objetivos. Ao longo dos anos, foram realizadas inúmeras atividades de extensão dirigidas aos professores e alunos das escolas de ensino básico, das quais destacamos os projetos de extensão relacionados ao ensino de Ciências e Biologia. Este estudo teve por objetivos identificar as atividades de extensão, desenvolvidas por docentes do IB, voltadas ao ensino básico, e investigar a percepção dos docentes sobre a articulação entre Universidade e escolas de ensino infantil, fundamental e médio. Os dados foram coletados por meio de análise de documentos, questionário e entrevista. Pela análise de documentos, foram identificados os projetos de extensão relacionados ao ensino de Ciências e Biologia e que possuem relação (direta ou indireta) com escolas do ensino básico desenvolvidos pelo IB nos anos 2006, 2007 e 2008, cadastrados na PROEX, vinculados ao Núcleo de Ensino, ao Programa Ciência Na UNESP e ao NADi - Museu Escola. Por meio do questionário, com questões abertas e fechadas, foram coletados dados junto a 15 professores coordenadores e pela entrevista foram coletados dados junto ao Presidente da Comissão Permanente de Extensão Universitária. In materials science, the search for technological improvements have become one of the main subject of study of researchers. This is especially true in the case of materials with reduced sizes, in the nanometer scale. Important phenomena to be studied in these cases are the desorption and adsorption on two-dimensional materials, such as graphene. These phenomena are of great importance in the study of interactions between organic films, synthesis or catalysis of reactions on surfaces and even in the creation of nanoscale devices [1, 2, 3, 4]. Between the most important topics related to these phenomena are the storage of gases in low-dimensional systems and the study of nanostructured fuel cells or batteries. In this context we used two different parametrizations for the reactive force field ReaxFF to study the potential barriers and reaction barriers of our system. First we made a study about the Reaction Barriers and Energy Barriers for bonds between graphene and the following atoms: sulfur, fluorine, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. It is important to have this information in order to make it possible to understand how these atoms react with the graphene sheet. Subsequently, we calculate reaction barriers for mixed structures where fluorine is a fixed element bonded to graphene and other element is simultaneously bonded to graphene. This other element (N, O, H or S) is varied in its possible relative positions (ortho, meta and para in relation to fluorine in either: the same side and in the opposite side of the graphene membrane)

Com o objetivo de propor mecanismos que auxiliem na compreensão da neurobiologia do medo e da ansiedade, diversos modelos animais vem sendo utilizados. Dentre eles destaca-se o Teste de Exposição ao Rato (RET), que é um modelo etológico de interação presa (camundongo) – predador (rato), conhecido por eliciar a expressão de diversos tipos de comportamentos defensivos no camundongo, tais como avaliação de risco, esquiva, congelamento, entre outros. Com o intuito de aumentar a aversividade do modelo proposto por Yang e colaboradores (2004), foi proposto um novo modelo de RET, semelhante ao modelo padrão, porém com alterações de algumas variáveis como aumento da luminosidade, ausência de maravalha, alteração do local de inserção do camundongo no aparato, substituição da tela de arame (usada na separação da superfície) por uma tela de acrílico e arame e uma divisão virtual da superfície em duas partes, uma distante da tela por 10 cm (superfície proximal) e outra com 13 cm até chegar ao túnel (superfície distal). Um estudo piloto realizado comparando o novo teste de exposição ao rato com o modelo padrão demonstrou que no novo modelo de exposição há uma maior preferência pela presa às áreas protegidas (toca e túnel) e uma maior expressão de avaliação de risco, indicando talvez uma maior sensibilidade à expressão de comportamentos defensivos de camundongos e possivelmente a fármacos que atuem no sistema de defesa. No presente estudo foram investigados os efeitos dos (i) benzodiazepínicos diazepam e alprazolam, (ii) dos fármacos ansiogênicos cafeína e pentilenotetrazol e (iii) do antidepressivo fluoxetina (aguda e cronicamente). O tratamento com alprazolam resultou num efeito antiaversivo mais evidente quando comparado ao diazepam. O tratamento agudo 10 com cafeína, por sua vez, apresentou um efeito ansiogênico bastante sutil, diferente... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo)

No mundo, é alto e crescente o número de pessoas que fazem uso de substâncias psicoativas de abuso. Estudos clínicos demonstram que a exposição ao estresse pode aumentar o risco ao abuso de drogas, a vulnerabilidade para o desenvolvimento de dependência e a probabilidade de recaídas. O uso repetido de substâncias de abuso pode promover sensibilização comportamental. A sensibilização comportamental reflete em neuroadaptações que estão envolvidas no desenvolvimento da farmacodependência. Logo, tanto a administração repetida da substância de abuso quanto a exposição repetida a situações de estresse podem promover sensibilização comportamental, culminando em administração subsequente de substâncias de abuso. Esse fenômeno é chamado de sensibilização cruzada entre estresse e drogas. Em modelos animais, a sensibilização comportamental pode ser demonstrada pelo aumento progressivo da resposta locomotora a uma dose fixa da substância psicoativa após a exposição repetida a drogas ou ao estresse. Altos índices de uso de substância psicoativa de abuso tem sido observados entre adolescentes, no Brasil e no mundo. Adultos e adolescentes apresentam diferenças em relação à resposta às drogas e ao estresse. Embora seja de grande relevância, poucos são os estudos realizados para avaliar o efeito do estresse em modelos animais de adolescência. Desta forma, o objetivo desse projeto foi estudar se a exposição ao estresse crônico de isolamento social durante a adolescência promove sensibilização comportamental cruzada com a cocaína em ratos adultos e adolescentes

This paper presents a study of the applicability of adsorption isotherms, known as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm, between the biosorptive interaction of yeast lyophilized Saccharomyces cerevisiae and textile dyes. To that end, we prepared stock solutions of the textile dyes Direct Red 23 and Direct Red 75 in the concentration of 1.000μg/mL and a yeast suspension at 2,5%. We did experiments for two cases, firstly for the case that we have a fix concentration of yeast at 0,500mg/mL and an variable concentration of dye range from40, 50, 60, 80 and 100μg/mL, then for the case that we fixed the concentration of dye at 100μg/mL and the yeast concentration was variable range from 0,250, 0,500, 0,750, 1,000, 1,250mg/mL. For the dye Direct Red 23 we did analysis in the pH 2,5, 4,5 and 6,5; for the Direct Red 75, we just did for the pH 2,5. We leave the dye solution in contact with the yeast for 2 hours at a constant temperature of 30°C and then centrifuged and analyzed the sample in a spectrophotometer and finally made and analysis of parameters for the removal and study of the isotherms. After the biosorption, was observed that for the Direct Red 23 in the pH 2,5 was needed 1,407mg/mL of yeast for total removal, while for the pH 4,5 was needed 8,806mg/mL and in pH 6,5 was 9,286mg/mL; for the Direct Red 75 in pH 2,5 was needed 1,337mg/mL. This difference can be explain by the adsorption isotherms, was observed that in the case when the yeast was fix when we had in a acid pH the behavior of the system was compatible with the Langmuir isotherm, and thus, an monolayer pattern. And that when we decrease the acidity of the medium the system became more compatible with a Freundlich isotherm, and thus, a multilayer pattern; for the case that the yeast was variable this is not much evident, however for the pH 2,5 she became compatible with a Langmuir isotherm...
