"Ciberteca" ou biblioteca virtual: uma perspectiva de gerenciamento de recursos de informação

As modificações tecnológicas e as recentes concepções de gerenciamento de recursos de informação têm causado uma quebra no paradigma dos modelos tradicionais de bibliotecas. O conceito de biblioteca virtual se apresenta como uma alternativa para ampliar as condições de busca, disponibilidade e recuperação de informações de maneira globalizada, qualitativa, pertinente e racional, aliando o acesso local ao acesso remoto, com base nas redes de telecomunicação disponíveis. Embora o conceito de biblioteca virtual esteja ainda em construção, um cuidadoso planejamento deve ser elaborado, tendo em vista a transição do modelo tradicional de bibliotecas para o modelo de biblioteca virtual. Alguns passos desta avaliação são apresentados, em especial para bibliotecas especializadas, bem como algumas experiências já em funcionamento em países do Primeiro Mundo. Novos papéis são também exigidos para os profissionais bibliotecários e para o pessoal da biblioteca, visando a um reposicionamento de atitudes e atividades.

April 26, 2012 THIS WEEK: The Ed Sullivan Show is Broadcast from the USS Iowa BACKGROUND: The Ed Sullivan Show On July 4, 1954, The Ed Sullivan Show was filmed aboard the battleship U.S.S. Iowa, which was docked in the Hudson River. The Ed Sullivan Show, then called Toast of the Town, was in its seventh season. Sullivan featured many celebrities on his show over the years. During this particular show, musical comedy star Dolores Gray was featured along with Bill Kenny of the group the Ink Spots. The Step Brothers were the featured dancers. Les Marcellis led an acrobat performance, Jay Marshall provided a stand-up comedy routine, and Eileen O’Dare performed as an acrobatic dancer surrounded by the navy audience. Sullivan spoke with navy Captain Wayne Loud, who then presented Sullivan with a caricature of Sullivan drawn by famed media layout artist Herb Hazelton, who also appeared.

Auxiliares de biblioteca e trabalho informacional: desafios e possibilidades para o Sibi/UFPA

O objetivo deste relato é conhecer a rotina de trabalho dos auxiliares do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal do Pará (Sibi/UFPA), como trabalhadores que participam do trabalho informacional. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de questionários enviados a 26 unidades de informação da UFPA, selecionadas segundo uma amostragem por tipicidade. Os resultados mostram, entre outras questões, que auxiliares de biblioteca estão concentrados em tarefas próprias do serviço de empréstimo/devolução de publicações. No que se refere aos serviços auxiliares de preparação e conservação de material bibliográfico, verifica-se que eles têm sido apropriados pelos bibliotecários. A pesquisa aponta para a necessidade de uma política institucional de qualificação dos auxiliares de biblioteca para o trabalho informacional.
