Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão sobre o significado dos termos cidadania e saúde, abordando a Teoria das Representações Sociais como estratégia para implementação e avaliação dos modelos de assistência a saúde no Brasil. Na primeira parte, traçamos um breve histórico sobre a concepção de cidadania; na segunda, tratamos dos princípios de liberdade e igualdade pautados no pensamento de Kant; na terceira, evidenciamos a saúde como um direito do cidadão e um dever do estado; por fim, destacamos a Teoria das Representações Sociais como estratégia para avaliar e implementar os serviços de saúde prestados ao cidadão pelos modelos assistenciais de saúde em vigor no Brasil.

The one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with the singular harmonic oscillator is investigated. The Hermiticity of the operators related to observable physical quantities is used as a criterion to show that the attractive or repulsive singular oscillator exhibits an infinite number of acceptable solutions provided the parameter responsible for the singularity is greater than a certain critical value, in disagreement with the literature. The problem for the whole line exhibits a two-fold degeneracy in the case of the singular oscillator, and the intrusion of additional solutions in the case of a nonsingular oscillator. Additionally, it is shown that the solution of the singular oscillator can not be obtained from the nonsingular oscillator via perturbation theory.

Investiga-se a equação de Schrödinger unidimensional com uma classe de potenciais V(|x|) que se anulam no infinito e apresentam singularidade dominante na origem na forma α/|x|β(0 < β < 2). A hermiticidade dos operadores associados com quantidades físicas observáveis é usada para determinar as condições de contorno apropriadas. Dupla degenerescência e exclusão de soluções simétricas, consoante o valor de β, são discutidas. Soluções explícitas para o átomo de hidrogênio e o potencial de Kratzer são apresentadas.

The study of oscillatory phenomena is an important topic in several areas of knowledge. The understanding and the solution of many problems that scientists and engineers confront nowadays can be formulated, at least as an analogy, in terms of an oscillatory movement. The description of the motion of this nature has remarkable contributions to the mathematical and conceptual formation of the students and for solving daily problems in several areas. In this paper we propose a theoretical and experimental approach involving the phenomenon of harmonic oscillations in two dimensions. Lissajous curves were used as experimental demonstration of the resulting trajectories. These curves were obtained from relatively simple experimental apparatus, which is affordable in most teaching laboratories of physics.

The model used in Brazilian schools, based on both traditional and progressive education, transmits information without worrying to show the real meaning of things, and without taking into consideration the previous knowledge of the pupil. How to work with the contents of human knowledge in a meaningful way? One alternative way is the Methodology of Dialectical Mediation (MDM), which consists in four steps or pedagogical moments, rescuing, problem posing, systematizing and producing. This theoretical option considers the educational work as a relationship involving teaching, learning and contents, which are taken as independent moments tightly connected to the ongoing work, instead of isolated elements or static terms. The aim of the present work is to clarify the Methodology of Dialectical Mediation and develop a class proposal according to the MDM approach to the problem of the free falling bodies (gravity, material means and shape). To evaluate the methodology, questionnaires were applied after experiments, with the involvement of students at each predominant moment. The results suggested that the MMD, combined with experimental activity, is a tool that enhances the overcoming of immediate knowledge, allowing students to reach a better understanding of the scientific knowledge.

In this paper we present the an experimental setup to check the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. The description of the experimental setup and of the theoretical foundations is aimed at promoting the familiarization of the students with the involved concepts.

The Schwinger quantum action principle is a dynamic characterization of the transformation functions and is based on the algebraic structure derived from the kinematic analysis of the measurement processes at the quantum level. As such, this variational principle, allows to derive the canonical commutation relations in a consistent way. Moreover, the dynamic pictures of Schrödinger, Heisenberg and a quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation can be derived from it. We will implement this formalism by solving simple systems such as the free particle, the quantum harmonic oscillator and the quantum forced harmonic oscillator.

The classic Millikan experiment to determine the electron charge is very interesting from the point of view of statistics of experimental measurements. In a physics laboratory it is suggested to divide the obtained values of the electric charge by the value of an electron charge, and it is possible to experimentally establish that the oil droplets carry integer numbers of electrons. This work presents a new statistical algorithm for the treatment of measurements and for determining the best value of the electron charge in a Millikan experiment.

Photoassociation is a possible route for the formation of chemical bonds. In this process, the binding of colliding atoms can be induced by means of a laser field. Photoassociation has been studied in the ultracold regime and also with temperatures well above millikelvins in the thermal energy domain, which is a situation commonly encountered in the laboratory. A photoassociation mechanism can be envisioned based on the use of infrared pulses to drive a transition from free colliding atoms on the electronic ground state to form a molecule directly on that state. This work takes a step in this direction, investigating the laser-pulse-driven formation of heteronuclear diatomic molecules in a thermal gas of atoms including rotational effects. Based on the assumption of full system controllability, the maximum possible photoassociation yield is deduced. The photoassociation probability is calculated as a function of the laser parameters for different temperatures. Additionally, the photoassociation yield induced by subpicosecond pulses of a priori fixed shape is compared to the maximum possible yield.

The effect of different beverages on acrylic resin denture teeth color degradation is evaluated. Ten acrylic resin denture teeth brands were evaluated: Art Plus (AP), Biolux (BX), Biotone IPN (BI), Magister (MG), Mondial 6 (MD), Premium 6 (PR), SR Vivodent PE (SR), Trilux (TR), Trubyte Biotone (TB), and Vipi Dent Plus (VP). Teeth were immersed in staining solutions (coffee, cola, and orange juice) or artificial saliva (control) (n = 6) for 1, 7, 15, or 30 days. Specimen colors were evaluated spectrophotometrically based on the Commission Internationale d'Eclairage L*a*b* system. Color differences (Delta E) were calculated between the baseline and post-staining results. Data were evaluated by analysis of variance and Tukey test (alpha = 0.05). BI (1.82 +/- 0.95) and TR (1.78 +/- 0.72) teeth exhibited the greatest Delta E values, while BX (0.88 +/- 0.43) and MD (1.09 +/- 0.44) teeth were the lowest, regardless of solution and measurement period, and were different from BI and TR teeth (P < 0.05). Cola and coffee promoted higher denture teeth color alterations than orange juice and saliva (P < 0.05). Saliva generated the lowest denture teeth color alterations. Greater immersion times caused higher denture teeth color changes. The lifespan of removable dentures and the aesthetic satisfaction of several edentulous patients may be increased with the use of stain-resistant artificial denture teeth. (C) The Authors.

Pigments of food and beverages could affect dental bleaching efficacy. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate color change and mineral loss of tooth enamel as well as the influence of staining solutions normally used by adolescent patients undergoing home bleaching. Initial hardness and baseline color were measured on enamel blocks. Specimens were divided into five groups (n = 5): G1 (control) specimens were kept in artificial saliva throughout the experiment (3 weeks); G2 enamel was exposed to 10% carbamide peroxide for 6 h daily, and after this period, the teeth were cleaned and stored in artificial saliva until the next bleaching session; and G3, G4, and G5 received the same treatments as G2, but after bleaching, they were stored for 1 h in cola soft drink, melted chocolate, or red wine, respectively. Mineral loss was obtained by the percentage of hardness reduction, and color change was determined by the difference between the data obtained before and after treatments. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and Fisher's test (a = 0.05). G3 and G5 showed higher mineral loss (92.96 +/- 5.50 and 94.46 +/- 1.00, respectively) compared to the other groups (p = 0.05). G5 showed high-color change (9.34 +/- 2.90), whereas G1 presented lower color change (2.22 +/- 0.44) (p = 0.05). Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary tumor of the liver. After local therapies, the tumor evaluation is based on the mRECIST criteria, which involves the measurement of the maximum diameter of the viable lesion. This paper describes a computed methodology to measure through the contrasted area of the lesions the maximum diameter of the tumor by a computational algorithm 63 computed tomography (CT) slices from 23 patients were assessed. Non-contrasted liver and HCC typical nodules were evaluated, and a virtual phantom was developed for this purpose. Optimization of the algorithm detection and quantification was made using the virtual phantom. After that, we compared the algorithm findings of maximum diameter of the target lesions against radiologist measures. Computed results of the maximum diameter are in good agreement with the results obtained by radiologist evaluation, indicating that the algorithm was able to detect properly the tumor limits A comparison of the estimated maximum diameter by radiologist versus the algorithm revealed differences on the order of 0.25 cm for large-sized tumors (diameter > 5 cm), whereas agreement lesser than 1.0cm was found for small-sized tumors. Differences between algorithm and radiologist measures were accurate for small-sized tumors with a trend to a small increase for tumors greater than 5 cm. Therefore, traditional methods for measuring lesion diameter should be complemented with non-subjective measurement methods, which would allow a more correct evaluation of the contrast-enhanced areas of HCC according to the mRECIST criteria.
