Analisa através das ferramentas dos estudos culturais, o erotismo na obra Batuque do poeta Bruno de Menezes, como meio de leitura para se estudar a identidade negra. Para tanto se estudou o conceito de erotismo relacionado ao corpo e ao sagrado, enquanto manifestação identitária negra. O estudo do fenômeno da identidade do erotismo serviu de base para a análise de como o autor, através do erotismo na linguagem, construiu o signo poético, fruto do fenômeno do hibridismo.

A eloquência no pensamento político de Thomas Hobbes

A presente pesquisa propõe-se a analisar os pressupostos teóricos que servem de apoio para Hobbes fundamentar a sua ciência civil, a qual aparentemente denotaria certa contradição quanto ao fato de ele lançar mão da eloquência enquanto arte da retórica implicitamente nos Elementos da Lei e no Do cidadão ao alinhar parte da bíblia sagrada à obediência civil. Ao mesmo tempo em que claramente o autor nas obras citadas acima condena o referido aspecto da eloquência, paradoxalmente, nas suas duas obras políticas posteriores, Leviatã e Behemoth, Hobbes lança mão explicitamente desta, chegando à conclusão de que ela é necessária como força coadjuvante da razão para conformar as paixões humanas na obediência civil.

A Mãe e o Filho como peregrinos: dois modelos de peregrinação católica no Brasil

Duas formas de peregrinação, em duas regiões distintas do Brasil. Em São Paulo, no sudeste brasileiro, em direção à cidade-santuário de Bom Jesus de Pirapora, um "sacerdote particular" imita Cristo ao carregar enorme cruz que afirma pesar mais de cem quilos, em um trajeto de cerca de sessenta quilômetros. Isso é feito também, todos os anos, por muitos outros, homens e mulheres, durante a Semana Santa, partindo de várias cidades da região, embora carreguem cruzes bem menos pesadas. Em Belém do Pará, na Amazônia, muitas imagens de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré peregrinam pelas ruas da cidade, durante a festa do Círio de Nazaré, que culmina com enorme procissão, anualmente, no mês de outubro. Essas duas formas de peregrinação são especiais, porque, nelas, quem caminha não são propriamente os romeiros, mas o Filho de Deus e sua Santa Mãe, que o fazem simbolicamente, sendo "corporificados" ou tendo suas imagens conduzidas pelos peregrinos humanos, de ambos os sexos. Este artigo pretende explorar analiticamente aspectos simbólicos desses eventos, à luz da teoria antropológica, a partir de pesquisa de campo (com observação direta) e da bibliografia disponível sobre o tema. Um dos objetivos é mostrar que, na "ética da peregrinação" (Victor Turner), as formas inventivas do imaginário permitem uma troca de papéis entre a divindade e o fiel que é perfeitamente adequada a essa possível gramática do sagrado.

Aspectos clínicos, epidemiológicos e moleculares do papilomavírus genital em adolescentes gestantes

O câncer cervical representa o terceiro câncer mais comum no mundo. Tem como agente etiológico o HPV. O HPV é a doença sexualmente transmissível mais prevalente no mundo, sendo que a faixa etária mais acometida é de mulheres jovens. A adolescência é uma época de transformações corporais, sociais e comportamentais, que se reflete no despertar consciente da adolescente pelo sexo, o que pode levar ao contato com as doenças sexualmente transmissíveis e à gravidez prematura. Sendo assim, é uma época na qual a mulher está mais susceptível a infecção, como a do HPV. Dedicou-se a estimar a prevalência de HPV e avaliar os fatores associados a essa infecção em gestantes adolescentes no Sistema Único de Saúde de Belém, Estado do Pará. Foi um estudo transversal prospectivo incluindo 257 grávidas de 12 a 19 anos assistidas nas unidades de saúde municipal (Curió e Tapanã) e estadual (Unidade de Referência Materno-infantil e ambulatório da Mulher do Hospital Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará). As pacientes selecionadas foram submetidas a um questionário clínico epidemiológico e a colheita de material cervico-vaginal para detecção de DNA-HPV por técnica da reação em cadeia de polimerase (PCR). A associação da infecção por HPV e fatores de risco selecionados foram avaliadas por meio do teste do Qui-quadrado (χ2) e/ou exato de Fisher, todos com um nível alfa de significância de 0,05. A prevalência do HPV foi de 38,1% (98/257) acometendo preferencialmente adolescentes no terceiro trimestre gestacional (44,4%, p=0,0312), entre 11 e 14 anos, com menos de 6 anos de estudo e as que não possuíam companheiro. Os fatores de risco associados com a infecção pelo HPV na população, podendo variar também de acordo com o trimestre, foram “2 ou mais parceiros na vida”, “primeira gestação” e “problemas genitais”. Estes achados mostram a susceptibilidade das adolescentes à infecção pelo HPV e, consequentemente, ao desenvolvimento de lesões pré-neoplásicas e malignas. Com isso, há necessidade de políticas públicas educativas na promoção da saúde.

Presepe: criação de uma realidade

O texto que segue tem como objetivo propor uma leitura do conto “Presepe”, de Guimarães Rosa, mostrando o caminho trilhado pelo personagem Tio Bola para reviver o momento do nascimento do menino Jesus, rompendo os limites impostos pela realidade e recuperando o instante sagrado, com todas as transformações que essa decisão acarreta ao personagem. O conto narra um instante mágico de elevação do sujeito, uma verdadeira torrente de imaginação, poesia e fé. Toda essa atmosfera está repleta de símbolos, que representam o coletivo e o individual, e compõem a trama poética do conto.

Hibridismo cultural: o imaginário europeu na construção da sexualidade feminina do primeiro século de colonização brasileira

The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the conceptions of sexuality and female sexual behavior and conduct, formed from the merger of information and securities purchased under the eyes, rules and guidelines established relations with the Holy Office during his visit to Inquisitorial Brazil in the late sixteenth century. It is a survey of historical methodology in which we used as the exploratory research and literature. In the sixteenth century the Church increases the pressure to change the sexual mores that were free in the Middle Ages, a fact which influences the rules and regulations that are adopted by the Holy Office regarding the person's sex life. The first structure was based on Brazilian sexual alliance between Indians and settlers, which led to sugar, by the Portuguese, the customs of the land, which included sexual practices free since the Indians were out of Christian influence. Supported by the absence of white women, the settlers took them wives of the earth, usually more than one, creating conflict with the Jesuits who condemned Indian polygamy. In this context, in 1591, landed on Brazilian soil Heitor Furtado de Mendonca, and with it, the First Visitation of the Holy Office to investigate, arguing, exploring feelings and behaviors, to discover the true facts, finally, to demonstrate the errors Faith and punish them with the rigor of ecclesiastical law. His passing opens us to visualize traces of sexuality in the current "Tropic" a racist, misogynist world where black women and degraded land could be subject to the wishes of the white man, with whom he could mate at will. De um falsário a outro, de patranhas viageiras a legados críveis (século XV)

In the 15th and early 16th centuries, when traveling eastward and westward no longer proved extraordinary, travel writings, such as those of Marco Polo or Jean de Mandeville, were printed and reprinted and have been in the world of exchanges and acquisitions both in Portugal and in other parts of Europe. However, although they have played a key role in defining foreign worlds for Europe, reflecting the aspirations of their time and providing news about the universe to be discovered, these reports do not always necessarily tell of trips that were actually taken. Several of them, on the contrary, do no more than draw together, for contemporary readers, passages of interest taken from other writings; passages which, based on their regularity and frequency, would allow for a narrative staged as travel to be taken as truth for contemporaries and immediate successors. In the Iberian Peninsula of the late 15th century, an account written by an author about whom nothing is known, Gomez de Santisteban, who defines himself as a companion of Prince Pedro on a supposed trip to the Holy Land, was among those reports integrated into the description and the perception of the land being discovered. The driving question of this paper is, therefore, how Santisteban, though he wrote memories of trips that he did not take, achieved credibility like those travelers whose trips have been recognized as authentic.

Indústria frigorífica halal no Brasil, mão-de-obra islamita e estado de exceção

In the last decade, Brazilian meat export rates for Muslim religious countries have increased, and also has the immigration of Africans workers able to perform the slaughter following the precepts of Islam - religion that has expanded in the world, and thus, has the halal food segment. Halal, the Islamic ideology, means lawful, authorized by God: are those products that Allah in the Holy Qur'an releases for human consumption. To get halal certification some measures during slaughter/processing food should be taken. In the case of the slaughterhouses the animal must be slaughtered by a Muslim. Consequently, the demand for this skilled labor makes many African-Muslims get jobs in factories owned by BRF Foods, JBS and Marfrig; refugees and with their citizenship rights committed, these individuals live in a socio-political state of exception and overexploitation. In this study we intend to discuss the object of study Islamist workforce in Brazilian halal meat industry using the theoretical reflections of Giorgio Agamben (Homo Sacer in 2002, and State of Exception, 2004) and David Harvey (The Condition of Postmodernity, 2008, and The New Imperialism, 2004) to address the situation of immigrants in the meat business in Brazil, specially those on the halal certification segment, whose working and living conditions were described from academic studies and primary sources (articles in newspapers / magazines, websites, immigration official data). In addition we use the works of Rogério Heasbaert (O mito da desterritorialização, 2007) and Robert Kurz (Os paradoxos dos direitos humanos: inclusão e exclusão na modernidade, 2003) to discuss human mobility in this new century

Effect of natural antioxidant combinations on lipid oxidation in cooked chicken meat during refrigerated storage

The effect of combinations of sage, oregano and honey on lipid oxidation in cooked chicken meat during refrigeration at 4 degrees C for 96 h was determined. Chicken samples (thigh and breast) were then separated into five groups; control; butylated hydroxytoluene; oregano + sage; oregano + sage + 5%honey and oregano + sage + 10%honey. Quantitative measurements of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, conjugated dienes, hexanal, fatty acids, cholesterol and cholesterol oxides were used as indicators of lipid oxidation. Acceptability and preference were also evaluated. The effectiveness of the natural antioxidants for reducing the velocity of lipid oxidation in cooked chicken thigh and breast was demonstrated after 48 and 96 h of refrigeration at 4 degrees C. The treatments that presented the lowest hexanal values after 96 h of refrigeration were oregano + sage + 5%honey and oregano + sage + 10%honey. Only traces of free cholesterol oxides were found (25-OH, 7-k, 7 alpha-OH and 7 beta-OH). The natural antioxidants protected cooked chicken meat from oxidation processes and resulted in great acceptability. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Experimental investigation of gravitational gas separation in an inclined annular channel

The oil industry uses gas separators in production wells as the free gas present in the suction of the pump reduces the pumping efficiency and pump lifetime. Therefore, free gas is one of the most important variables in the design of pumping systems. However, in the literature there is little information on these separators. It is the case of the inverted-shroud gravitational gas separator. It has an annular geometry due to the installation of a cylindrical container in between the well casing and pioduction pipe (tubing). The purpose of the present study is to understand the phenomenology and behavior of inverted-shroud separator. Experimental tests were performed in a 10.5-m-length inclinable glass tube with air and water as working fluids. The water flow rate was in the range of 8.265-26.117 l/min and the average inlet air mass flow rate was 1.1041 kg/h, with inclination angles of 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 75 degrees, 80 degrees and 85 degrees. One of the findings is that the length between the inner annular level and production pipe inlet is one of the most important design parameters and based on that a new criterion for total gas separation is proposed. We also found that the phenomenology of the studied separator is not directly dependent on the gas flow rate, but on the average velocity of the free surface flow generated inside the separator. Maps of efficiency of gas separation were plotted and showed that liquid flow rate, inclination angle and pressure difference between casing and production pipe outlet are the main variables related to the gas separation phenomenon. The new data can be used for the development of design tools aiming to the optimized project of the pumping system for oil production in directional wells. (C) 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
