On-axis joint transform correlation based on a four-level power spectrum

We propose a method to obtain a single centered correlation with use of a joint transform correlator. We analyze the required setup to carry out the whole process optically, and we also present experimental results.

Particle orientation distribution in Y-Fe2O3magnetic tapes by Mössbauer and hysteresis loop measurements

The particle orientation in several Y-Fe2O3magnetic tapes has been quantitatively evaluated by using the data of both Mössbauer and hysteresis loop measurements performed in the three orthogonal directions. A texture function has been obtained as a development of real harmonics. The profile of the texture function gives the quality of the different magnetic tapes. A different degree of particle orientation at the surface of the tape is evidenced by means of conversion electron Mössbauer spectra.

Dynamics of a paramagnetic colloidal particle driven on a magnetic-bubble lattice

We present a theoretical study of the recently observed dynamical regimes of paramagnetic colloidal particles externally driven above a regular lattice of magnetic bubbles [P. Tierno, T. H. Johansen, and T. M. Fischer, Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 038303 (2007)]. An external precessing magnetic field alters the potential generated by the surface of the film in such a way to either drive the particle circularly around one bubble, ballistically through the array, or in triangular orbits on the interstitial regions between the bubbles. In the ballistic regime, we observe different trajectories performed by the particles phase locked with the external driving. Superdiffusive motion, which was experimentally found bridging the localized and delocalized dynamics, emerge only by introducing a certain degree of randomness into the bubbles size distribution.

Aplicació d'estratègies didàctiques de comprensió lectora en textos electrònics narratius

La comprensió lectora ha estat molt estudiada durant el segle XX però sempre sobre el suport paper. Amb la creació i desenvolupament del format digital i les Tecnologies de la Informació i la Comunicació (TIC) a finals d"aquest mateix segle, ha aparegut la lectura (i escriptura) electrònica: la lectura en pantalles i altres suports digitals (Rodriguez Illera, 2003, p. 1). Al principi, aquesta era una lectura ergonòmicament «feixuga» ja que els monitors dels ordinadors tenien una resolució molt dolenta, provocant el cansament de la vista (Hill, 2001). Avui, entrats al segle XXI, els dispositius visuals han millorat molt i permeten una lectura més relaxada. La pràctica de la lectura en pantalla és més estesa per aquest motiu, però també perquè els dispositius electrònics ja són més assequibles per l"economia de les classes mitjanes en els anomenats països desenvolupats. Per tant, ens trobem amb un augment d"usuaris i davant d"uns dispositius que milloren any rere any. A més, com afirma Reinking (1998, p. XI), existeix una tendència inevitable cap a un món post-tipogràfic on els textos impresos ja no seran els dominants. Això no vol dir que els textos electrònics substitueixin completament els textos impresos, però cada vegada el format digital anirà guanyant terreny a l"analògic.

Reação de cultivares de cevada a Drechslera teres, e variabilidade patogênica de isolados do Sul do Brasil

Objetivou-se avaliar a reação de 58 cultivares de cevada a Drechslera teres, agente causal da mancha-em-rede, bem como a variabilidade patogênica e freqüência de sintomas do patógeno. A reação das cultivares foi estimada com auxílio de uma escala de notas de 0 a 4, em que zero (0) representa a ausência de sintomas, e 4 representa os sintomas típicos da mancha-em-rede. O mesmo método foi utilizado para avaliar a variabilidade patogênica de 25 isolados oriundos do Sul do Brasil. Seis isolados de boa capacidade de esporulação foram utilizados para comparar o número de lesões e a severidade da doença. As cultivares diferiram quanto à reação a D. teres, e identificaram-se as três cultivares, BR 2, EMBRAPA 43 e PFC 8590, como fontes de resistência moderada à doença. Em testes de 25 isolados de D. teres, inoculados na concentração de 1,7x10(4) conídios/mL, detectaram-se diferenças significativas entre os isolados, evidenciando diferenças na sua virulência. Pelo sistema de nomenclatura de Limpert & Müller, foi possível diferenciar padrões de virulência de isolados oriundos de diferentes regiões do Sul do Brasil. O número de lesões e a severidade foram intimamente relacionadas com o local de origem do isolado.

Local model predictive control experiences with differential driven wheeled mobile robots

This work extends a previously developed research concerning about the use of local model predictive control in differential driven mobile robots. Hence, experimental results are presented as a way to improve the methodology by considering aspects as trajectory accuracy and time performance. In this sense, the cost function and the prediction horizon are important aspects to be considered. The aim of the present work is to test the control method by measuring trajectory tracking accuracy and time performance. Moreover, strategies for the integration with perception system and path planning are briefly introduced. In this sense, monocular image data can be used to plan safety trajectories by using goal attraction potential fields

Mobile robot experimental modeling and control strategies using sensor fusion

This research work deals with the problem of modeling and design of low level speed controller for the mobile robot PRIM. The main objective is to develop an effective educational, and research tool. On one hand, the interests in using the open mobile platform PRIM consist in integrating several highly related subjects to the automatic control theory in an educational context, by embracing the subjects of communications, signal processing, sensor fusion and hardware design, amongst others. On the other hand, the idea is to implement useful navigation strategies such that the robot can be served as a mobile multimedia information point. It is in this context, when navigation strategies are oriented to goal achievement, that a local model predictive control is attained. Hence, such studies are presented as a very interesting control strategy in order to develop the future capabilities of the system. In this context the research developed includes the visual information as a meaningful source that allows detecting the obstacle position coordinates as well as planning the free obstacle trajectory that should be reached by the robot

Genetic analysis of aluminum tolerance in Brazilian barleys

Aluminum (Al) toxicity is a major factor limiting barley growth in acid soils, and genotypes with adequate level of tolerance are needed for improving barley adaptation in Brazil. To study the inheritance of Al tolerance in Brazilian barleys, cultivars Antarctica 1, BR 1 and FM 404 were crossed to sensitive Kearney and PFC 8026, and intercrossed. Parental, F1, F2 and F6 generations were grown in nutrient solution containing 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07 mM of Al and classified for tolerance by the root tip hematoxylin staining assay. Tolerant by sensitive F2 progenies segregated three tolerant to one sensitive, fitting the 3:1 ratio expected for a single gene. The F6 populations segregated one tolerant to one sensitive also fitting a monogenic ratio. The F2 seedlings from crosses among tolerant genotypes scored the same as the parents. Since the population size used would allow detection of recombination as low as 7%, the complete absence of Al sensitive recombinants suggests that tolerance in these cultivars is most probably, controlled by the same gene. Thus, the potential for improving Al tolerance through recombination of these genotypes is very low and different gene sources should be evaluated.

Reconfigurable Architecture To Estimate The Motion Of An Underwater Vehicle

This work proposes a parallel architecture for a motion estimation algorithm. It is well known that image processing requires a huge amount of computation, mainly at low level processing where the algorithms are dealing with a great numbers of data-pixel. One of the solutions to estimate motions involves detection of the correspondences between two images. Due to its regular processing scheme, parallel implementation of correspondence problem can be an adequate approach to reduce the computation time. This work introduces parallel and real-time implementation of such low-level tasks to be carried out from the moment that the current image is acquired by the camera until the pairs of point-matchings are detected

Este proyecto de final de carrera de la titulación de Ingeniería en Informática de Gestión consiste en el diseño y desarrollo de un sistema de control de dispositivos conectados a Raspberry Pi y gestionados desde un dispositivo Android. Se podrán llevar a cabo diferentes acciones como encender, apagar, programar la calefacción y consultar la temperatura actual remotamente desde un dispostivo conectado a la red wifi doméstica o desde de cualquier red que esté conectada a internet.

Desenvolupament d'una aplicació per a mòbils Android que permeti conèixer les parades de bus més properes i el temps que falta perquè arribi cada línia de bus, mitjançant la geolocalització de l'usuari, un mapa de parades o un codi QR. Obtenció i tractament de les dades de parades i línies, així com obtenció en temps real de les properes arribades mitjançant "web scraping" (simulació de navegació d'un usuari per extreure dades dels webs) de les pàgines dels operadors.

El consum multipantalla. Estudi sobre l’ús de mitjans tradicionals i nous per part de nens, joves, adults i gent gran a Catalunya

Des de fa una dècada es parla de la convergència digital, que ha propiciat la conjunció de la informàtica amb els mitjans de comunicació i la interconnexió en xarxa. Actualment circulen amb facilitat suports vells i nous cada vegada més flexibles. La conseqüència per als usuaris és que avui disposen d’una varietat àmplia de continguts connectats permanentment en qualsevol lloc i en qualsevol moment, a través de diverses plataformes i amb una convivència rica i complexa. En aquest context, aquest article mostra les conclusions d’un estudi de camp sobre l’ús, el consum i les preferències de suports i de continguts de la comunicació digital per part de grups d’infants, de joves, d’adults i de gent gran a Catalunya.

El artículo presenta una parte de los resultados de una investigación realizada en 2008 donde se describen y analizan actores, contenidos y tendencias del marketing móvil en Cataluña. El marketing móvil está transformando las formas de comunicación publicitaria, ya que, al tratarse de un medio de comunicación unipersonal, directo e interactivo y gozar de una alta implantación en el mercado, hace que sea un instrumento especialmente atractivo para realizar muchos tipos de acciones de marketing. La investigación traza un primer mapa de la situación, propone una serie de categorías de análisis y futuras tendencias y sienta las bases para futuros estudios más específicos sobre marketing móvil.

Comunicación móvil: actores y producción de contenidos en Cataluña

El presente artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación realizada durante el año 2008 donde se describen los actores y contenidos de la comunicación móvil producidos en Cataluña. La comunicación móvil, además de ser uno de los sectores más dinámicos de la economía global, está transformando diferentes aspectos de la vida social, desde las formas de relacionarse hasta los procesos de producción, distribución y analiconsumo cultural. La investigación traza un primer mapa de la situación, propone una serie de categorías de análisis y sienta las bases para futuros estudios más específicos sobre la comunicación móvil en Cataluña.
