Due to the expansion of the wild crop to regions with higher temperatures is important to develop cultivars adapted to high heat. The aim was to select tests for evaluating seed physiological quality of wild radish to estimating genetic characters in order to select cultivars adapted to high temperature conditions. Hundred of half-brothers of wild radish were subjected to germination test and vigor (first count of germination, classification of seedling vigor, accelerated aging test, germination and testing of the first count at high temperature as well as seedling emergence in field. The germination test, first count test, accelerated aging and high germination test (20-35°C) can be used for the selection of wild radish crop populations adapted to germination and field emergence under high temperatures.

Características agronômicas avaliadas em progênies de cupuaçuzeiro, oriundas do programa de melhoramento genético da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental.

O cupuaçuzeiro Theobroma grandiflorum (Willd. ex. Spreng.) Schum., pertencente à família Malvaceae, é uma fruteira nativa da floresta tropical úmida. Esta pesquisa teve objetivo de avaliar caracteres agronômicos em 25 progênies de cupuaçuzeiro, tolerantes à vassoura-de-bruxa, no período de 2009 a 2014. O plantio foi intalado em 2008 no município de São Francisco do Pará, PA. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com 25 tratamentos, cinco repetições e três plantas por parcela, consorciados com bananeira. A progênie 209 destacou-se dentre as demais devido sua média, todavia não sendo única quanto ao teste estatístico aplicado. No geral, o ensaio obteve bom desempenho, não havendo significativa variação na amplitude dos resultados das variáveis empregadas.

Ibopamina 2% vs. sobrecarga hídrica como teste provocativo para glaucoma

PURPOSE: To compare the 2% ibopamine provocative test with the water drinking test as a provocative test for glaucoma. METHODS: Primary open-angle glaucoma patients and normal individuals were selected from CEROF-Universidade Federal de Goiânia UFG, and underwent the 2% ibopamine provocative test and the water drinking test in a randomized fashion, at least 1 week apart. Intraocular pressure (IOP) before and after both tests, Bland-Altman graph, sensitivity and specificity (as mesured by ROC curves) were obtained for both methods. RESULTS: Forty-seven eyes from 25 patients were included (27 eyes from 15 glaucoma patients and 20 eyes from 10 normal individuals), with a mean age of 54.2 ± 12.7 years. The mean MD of glaucoma patients was -2.8 ± 2.11 dB. There was no statistically difference in the baseline IOP (p=0.8) comparing glaucoma patients, but positive after the provocative tests (p=0.03), and in the IOP variation (4.4 ± 1.3 mmHg for ibopamine and 3.2 ± 2.2 mmHg for water drinking test, p=0.01). There was no difference in all studied parameters for normal individuals. The Bland-Altman graph showed high dispersion comparing both methods. The areas under the ROC curve were 0.987 for the ibopamine provocative test, and 0.807 for the water-drinking test. CONCLUSION: In this selected subgroup of glaucoma patients with early visual field defect, the ibopamine provocative test has shown better sensitivity/specificity than the water drinking test.

Função vísuo-espacial em paralisia cerebral e proposta de novo teste com a ajuda de computador

The first idea of this study is trat there may be a disturbance of the visuo-spatial function in cerebral palsy. This idea is based upon the theories of Luria and Piaget. The second idea of this study is that the computer can help the investigation of visuo-spatial function. With the intention of evaluating the spatial function in cerebral palsy, the literature related to these themes was revised. We justify the proposal of a new test to study visuo-spatial function. This test uses straight lines in four different orientations and the subject has to recognize and arrange them individually or sets of them. This was done through the use of pencil and papel, and computer. The results confirm that there is a spatial disturbance and that a better understanding of the subject's difficulties was made possible through the use of the computer and the Logo computer language.
