Relations between the meaning attributed to work by first year university students and their academic and professional choice were analyzed. The participants were 921 students, 17-52 years old (M = 22; SD = 4.9), enrolled in 16 courses common to two college level institutions of the city of Natal, RN, one public, the other private. A questionnaire was designed for collecting data about the academic-professional choice, with open-ended and multiple choice questions. Work meaning was obtained by means of two questions on centrality and two scales pertaining to the Inventory of Motivation and Work Meaning: value and descriptive attributes. A socio-demographic set of questions ended the questionnaire. Data was entered in a SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) database, allowing for the pertinent statistical analyses, such as frequency, t test, chi square, factor analysis, cluster analysis and ANOVA. Results indicated that the decision about academic-professional career was made by the majority of the participants (in first option, N = 921) without the adequate consideration of the socio-professional reality (80.7%) and personal internal resources (98.5%). When considering the second option (N = 654), only the first criterion was taken into account, but only by 12.5% of the sample. The main difficulties faced by students during the choosing process were, then, made apparent in the data. 46.8% of the participants were unsatisfied with the course they had started and were anticipating unpromising perspectives in relation to it. The first year students took work as the second most important aspect of their lives and demonstrated an idealized vision about it. Five patterns of work meaning were identified. In relation to centrality and the value and descriptive attributes, the university students displayed differentiation in the attribution of work meaning according to course and area of knowledge

The increasing search for the psychological attendance, express in the waiting list in the clinics, clinic-school and in the private clinics, beyond the increase of the choice of psychology as professional career among the pre-college students, allows us to reflect about the place that is occupied by the Psychology, nowadays. The main focus of this study is the clinical Psychology, an area of psychology. The interest in to deepen the reflection regarding of the place that the psychologist and his acting had been assumed in our society, emerged from our own actuation as clinical psychologist. Reflections concerning the suffering of man of our time, accompanying our inquietude while researcher and made us question about the actuation of clinical psychology, nowadays. This research aimed to understand how the clinical psychologists perceive their practice, attempting to get appointments regarding of what is to be clinical psychologist in contemporaneity, more specifically, in the face of the psychic suffering. Based on a phenomenological perspective of research were accomplished semi-structured interviews and a discussion group with clinical psychologists. From the obtained results, we arrived to the following conclusions: a) the most of participants considered the academic formation of the psychologist insufficient and far from social reality; b) the speeches revealed that there is still a relation between the practice of clinical psychologist and the medical model of attendance. Nevertheless, was observed a change in the new psychologists conception of clinic, but is still in development; c) in the most of speeches, we founded consensus about the idea of that the social context which the contemporaneous world lives, had generated new demands of suffering; d) the clinical listening is considered the specificity of the clinical psychologist. We believe that this study had been contributed to fomenting the discussion about the academic formation of clinical psychologist and, the concepts and models of clinic that now base the actuation of the professionals that are inserted on the work market

Neste estudo objetivou-se realizar um mapeamento que revelasse as produções científicas das/os pesquisadoras/es vinculadas/os a grupos de pesquisa situados na Universidade Federal do Pará, visando analisar como a temática gênero ganhava evidência em pesquisas realizadas no cenário acadêmico-científico daquela instituição, no período de 1995-2006. Nesse sentido, foram levantados os seguintes questionamentos: 1) O que se tem discutido, no campo acadêmico, em tomo das questões de gênero? 2) Como está evidenciada a produção científica generificada na base de dados dos grupos de pesquisa cadastrados no CNPq durante o período 1995 a 2006? 3) Como se apresenta a produção generificada das/os pesquisadoras/es, nos grupos de pesquisa, a partir dos indicadores estatísticos no Campus da UFPA de Belém? Os dados foram analisados quanti/qualitativamente por meio do cruzamento dos indicadores de produtividade científica - disponíveis no site do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (http://www.cnpq.br) - com os referenciais teóricos balizadores da temática gênero - Louro (2001) e Rosemberg (2001) -, aspecto que permitiu fazer uma radiografia da produção generificada no cenário nacional para posterior incursão na produção dos grupos de pesquisa da UFP A. Constatou-se que grande parte das pesquisas em tomo do gênero tem abordado principalmente questões alusivas à mulher e que aquelas pesquisas refutam as explicações de cunho biologicista na composição de femininos e masculinos, bem como asseveram que culturalmente há relações de poder entre os sexos; além disso, o estudo revelou que no panorama nacional o gênero encontrou guarida principalmente nos grupos de pesquisa na área das Ciências Humanas; no tocante à participação feminina na Ciência, observou-se um parâmetro androcêntrico na estrutura do fazer científico, aspecto esse que ressoa no quantitativo das produções acadêmicas de autoria feminina, posto que elas ainda precisam conciliar a carreira profissional com as exigências do mundo privado; mas, apesar do domínio masculino nas produções científicas, os estudos sobre gênero ganham envergadura nas pesquisas desenvolvidas por mulheres, tanto em nível nacional como local. No que tange especificamente aos indicadores da UFP A, o gênero ganhou lugar de destaque na produção paraense e essas/es intelectuais têm se esmerado naquele campo exibindo uma produção freqüente em um período de 11 anos, embora tenham que assumir um acréscimo incomensurável de trabalho em conseqüência de a maioria fazer parte dos quadros docentes em programas de pós- graduação vigentes na UFP A. Com isso, reafirma-se que os grupos de pesquisa da Instituição em destaque, ainda que com menor expressão quantitativa em relação ao cenário nacional, são de grande relevância para a fertilização dos estudos de gênero na região Norte e para a projeção dessa Universidade como lugar institucional em que se produzem pesquisas que garantem a ela destaque nacional.

Este artigo propõe-se a refletir como as trajetórias pessoal e profissional de Helena Antipoff (1892-1974), aliadas às suas convicções de que a intervenção e transformação do real decorrem do conhecimento acumulado, da experiência e do desejo de ampliar o bem comum são elementos que vão construindo acervos pessoais, a partir dessa triangulação. Esta construção se funda mais nas práticas e ações do que na intenção de elaborar um acervo, mas termina por compor a construção de uma memória, articulada à formação do “Centro de Documentação e Pesquisa Helena Antipoff” – Ibirité-MG. Nascida na Rússia e tendo vivido no Brasil no período de 1929-1974, a educadora destacou-se por ações socialmente relevantes fundadas na organização do estudo e da pesquisa nos campos da psicologia, da educação e da educação rural, sendo estas duas últimas objetos de nossa pesquisa documental e análises.

This paper aims to show the beginning of habitus and the bodily hexis construction of male ballet dancer and female player soccer. Firstly, the habitus and the bodily hexis are established by the cultural inheritance of families (advices, likes, choices, prohibitions, and work divisions). After, they are restructured by the most diverse fields where this people act, mainly in the school, specifically at Physical Education classes (in the specialized places where these classes occur). Thus, it is possible to verify the success or the failure of their path lives and the possibility of a social ascent by the choice of these practices as professional career.

The guidelines of National Curriculum for Dental courses highlights the necessity in providing for the professional the ability to analyze and assess community’s problems and needs, and to create solutions for the society. The continuing education may be considered a useful tool for the teaching and learning because it favors the diversification of learning environments, which allows the insertion of undergraduate and graduate students into the real scenarios. This current study aimed to assess the Public Health projects and programs of the UNESP – Araçatuba Dental School, by describing the interaction experiences between faculty and health services in the professional career development. Historical, documentary and descriptive searches were performed based on the faculty archives such as official documents, reports, databases from the Pro-rector of continuing education and published papers in the period between 1964 and 2011. The following experiences were noted: the Extra-Muro Dental Service (SEMO), established in 1964, that focused in providing dental treatment to the rural population, highlighted the social inclusion of discriminated society groups since that time. In 1972, this service was expanded to several specific populations living in the urban areas. In the '60s, many educational campaigns were performed as homemade water filter and construction of wells and septic tanks which demonstrate the concern with the determinants of healthdisease process. At that time, the campaign of fluoridation of public water supplies in several counties started as Araçatuba, Birigui, Penápolis, Guararapes, Valparaíso and so on. The Campaign of “Good Teeth” from the '70s became wider over time and it was transformed in the "Oral Health Education Program" and it was continuously developed in all public schools of Araçatuba and some neighboring towns, benefiting children aged from 6 to 10 years-old. Several epidemiological studies of caries, periodontal diseases, malocclusion and fluorosis were conducted in cooperation with local governments, and counted with the participation of undergraduate and graduate students. Pereira Barreto – SP was the precursor city in Brazil to carry out fluorosis study. Currently, 12 projects of Public Health from the Institution of Higher Education in the Pro-rector of continuing education are being developed. The concern in qualifying the human resources in health is confirmed with the development of training courses and workshops for professionals, highlighting the training for people enrolled in the Family Health program; Community Health Agent training - Solidarity University, and Municipal Health Counselors training. The Graduate Program in Social and Preventive Dentistry, created in 1993, has an important role to train several professionals for the Unified Health System, and provides education to create researchers, professors and administrators, and enucleates research groups in several Brazilian states. In all activities showed herein, a dynamic participation of undergraduate and graduate students has been observed, and several books, guidelines, articles, brochures and booklets have been published as a result of the continuing education activities.. It was concluded that different projects and programs have been developed by the Public Health of UNESP –Araçatuba Dental School, which allow the exchange of experience between the university and health services, and benefit all participants enrolled in these activities.
