Overall, in Brazilian schools, the concept of reading does not take into account its possibilities and its meaning for life. But read is assigning meaning to something , make sense, interact with the text read. Thus, the present study addresses the mechanical reading, that without contextualization, performed on a technique by joining letters and syllables loose and also reading social use, consisting of statements, dialogism , polyphony and heteroglossy. It is known that the mechanical reading brings undesirable consequences, including learning problems, such as lack of attention, concentration, memory, imagination. When the reading is taught in a systematic way, with only the goal of the code decoding of written language, destroys social perspectives and intellectual development. It is common, when you offer the children a book, there the difficult disinterest of textual interpretation, because there is no attribute meaning to the content, and even the ability to interact with the text. With the interest in studying the dialogic reading this and the statements and genres, the present study was based on several authors: Bakhtin (1988, 2000), Schneuwly and Dolz (2000), Faraco (2009) and Ponzio (2009) Jolibert (1994), Bajard (2002; 2007) Foucambert (1997) Martins ( 1985) and Smith ( 1999). This study about Memórias Sentimentais de João Miramar, by Oswald de Andrade, aims to explore the voices that organize the space of language in the narrative. Such space has an operative vision called polyphony, by which the signs organize themselves out of a hierarchical scale, although the chronological axis of the life of João Miramar is the guiding principle of the episodes.

The purpose of this work is the presentation of three lyrics of selected songs from the Brazilian national band Engenheiros do Hawaii and of a stylistic analysis showing how resources such as intertextuality, polyphony and word games helped building different effects of meaning. This work also attempts to show the importance of the reader in relating the elements presented in the lyrics with other texts of his/her repertoire, in order to expand the number of possible interpretations. The higher the repertoire of the reader, higher will be its ability to dialogue with other texts, considering both texts already read in the past or dialogues to be made with future texts

Hoffmann wrote several fairy tales, including "Princess Brambilla" (1821), which has an remarkable pictorial component: when it was published, the text went along with eight illustrations by Carl Friedrich Thiele, which were derived from original prints made by the Frenchman Jacques Callot. While Callot images portray the Italian theater of the Commedia dell'Arte, Thiele's works follow the plot of the narrative, representing the characters of Hoffmann, who disguise themselves because of the carnival that is taking place in Rome. The costumes and masks worn by the characters however do not ensure them full secrecy. Instead of a complete undercover, they lead to double meanings and double identities so that narrative levels and artistic references overlap and create an effect similar to a set of a polyphonic orchestra (which is a metaphor implied in the very subtitle, where the narrative is called a Capriccio).

In the short story “Teoria do Medalhão”, written by Machado de Assis in 1881, a zealous father decides to give good advices to his son who just turned 21 years old. Using a speech that represents the official ideology of the eighteenth century, created by the dominant hegemony, including the France of Balzac’s time, the father suggests that the son abandons his ideals, using masks and annulling his thoughts and tastes to become a true Medalhão. The dialogue that is established between both of them is surrounded by irony and humor, because the father makes an apparently wise speech, which is, actually, empty and fool, leading to think about the concepts of parody and carnavalization by Bakhtin. Besides that, when he built a story in dialogue form, Machado de Assis transfers the word to the characters, in a crossing of voices that makes us think about “embryos” of polyphony. This work aims to make a bakhtiniana reading of the machadiano short story, “Teoria do Medalhão” in opposition to the novel Le Père Goriot by Balzac.
