Se ofrecen al profesor varias maneras de sacar ideas instructivas de las narraciones de ficción. El libro está dividido en dos partes, la primera tiene un enfoque teórico, mientras que, en la segunda se dan los casos para su estudio, que corresponden a cuatro personajes literarios de otras tantas novelas, así como, una serie de preguntas planteadas para despertar la moral y estimular la reflexión ética en los estudiantes. Aunque, este planteamiento se puede aplicar, tambien, a los protagonistas de otras obras narrativas del plan de estudios.

Literature in second language education : enhancing the role of texts in learning.

Las premisas pedagógicas de este manual son que el objeto de aprendizaje, en este caso los textos literarios, es inseparable del enfoque adoptado para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, de la misma manera que el lenguaje es inseparable de la cultura, de la que la literatura forma parte. Este manual propone el estudio de textos literarios como un componente vital del conocimiento lingüístico y cultural del segundo idioma. La investigación, realizada con estudiantes de italiano en Australia, se sitúa en un contexto más amplio del segundo idioma, y se compara con los estudios sobre las valoraciones que los estudiantes hacen de los textos literarios en inglés y en francés en países como Canadá, Italia, Australia, Alemania y Ucrania. La primera parte del libro lleva el debate sobre la inclusión de la literatura en la enseñanza del segundo idioma como punto de partida para plantear cuestiones cruciales sobre cómo los estudiantes y educadores, ven la literatura. La segunda parte del libro evalúa un enfoque innovador para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la literatura en el segundo idioma. La autora llega a la conclusión de que la literatura funciona mejor cuando se lee como literatura, no como gramática, y cuando los estudiantes analizar sus reacciones a la misma como un grupo.

Literature review and analysis of itinerant teachers of the hearing impaired located in the midwest: Service delivery model in education

The role and responsibilities of an itinerant teacher of students who are deaf or hard of hearing were investigated to create a database of information about the effective traits of successful itinerant teachers.

Dissonant Voices : Philosophy, Children's Literature, and Perfectionist Education

Dissonant Voices has a twofold aspiration. First, it is a philosophical treatment of everyday pedagogical interactions between children and their elders, between teachers and pupils. More specifically it is an exploration of the possibilities to go on with dissonant voices that interrupt established practices – our attunement – in behaviour, practice and thinking. Voices that are incomprehensible or expressions that are unacceptable, morally or otherwise. The text works on a tension between two inclinations: an inclination to wave off, discourage, or change an expression that is unacceptable or unintelligible; and an inclination to be tolerant and accept the dissonant expression as doing something worthwhile, but different. The second aspiration is a philosophical engagement with children’s literature. Reading children’s literature becomes a form of philosophising, a way to explore the complexity of a range of philosophical issues. This turn to literature marks a dissatisfaction with what philosophy can accomplish through argumentation and what philosophy can do with a particular and limited set of concepts for a subject, such as ethics. It is a way to go beyond philosophising as the founding of theories that justify particular responses. The philosophy of dissonance and children’s literature becomes a way to destabilise justifications of our established practices and ways of interacting. The philosophical investigations of dissonance are meant to make manifest the possibilities and risks of engaging in interactions beyond established agreement or attunements. Thinking of the dissonant voice as an expression beyond established practices calls for improvisation. Such improvisations become a perfectionist education where both the child and the elder, the teacher and the student, search for as yet unattained forms of interaction and take responsibility for every word and action of the interaction. The investigation goes through a number of picture books and novels for children such as Harry Potter, Garmann’s Summer, and books by Shaun Tan, Astrid Lindgren and Dr. Seuss as well narratives by J.R.R. Tolkien, Henrik Ibsen, Jane Austen and Henry David Thoreau. These works of fiction are read in conversation with philosophical works of, and inspired by, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Stanley Cavell, their moral perfectionism and ordinary language philosophy.

Online and Offline Gaming as Support for English Education in Swedish Upper Elementary Schools with Focus on Reading Comprehension Online and Offline Gaming as Support for English Education in Swedish Upper Elementary Schools with Focus on Reading Comprehension : A literature review about online and offline gaming as a resource for developing English reading comprehension in Swedish schools in year 4-6

The aim of this degree thesis is to see what research says about the use of computer and video games to support upper elementary pupils’ development in English reading comprehension in Swedish schools. Other goals are to see how online and offline gaming can be integrated in the Swedish schools and what attitudes teachers have towards gaming. The method used is a systematic literature review and the purpose is to analyze chosen articles and to find relevant content that answers the research questions. Five articles were chosen from different databases and were systematically analyzed in this thesis. The results show that online gaming as support for education can be rewarding for some upper elementary pupils in English learning. However, in English reading comprehension there is not much research found which means that more research needs to be made within this area. Moreover, involving online gaming in English language learning seems to be a challenge for teachers mostly because of their lack of knowledge about the subject, even though they are positive to gaming. The lack of knowledge about the subject could be altered with more education and courses in the area.

Alternatives exist: analysis of scientific literature in two Brazilian journals about the pedagogical work of Physical Education

Considering that the process of teacher training in universities takes into account the confrontation of knowledge produced by the scientific methods, the current study intended to identify what are the main contributions of the Brazilian scientific production of Physical Education teaching. Therefore, an exploratory study was done from the articles published on the subject in the two main periodicals of the area. The data analyzes allowed us to verify the relevancy of the knowledge produced and to suggest alternatives to its inclusion in the docent training programs.
