The boundary of palaearctic and oriental realms in western China

In the world-wide zoogeographic division, there has been no consentaneous understanding about the delimitation between palaearctic and oriental realms in western China. In this study, we will discuss the division based on amphibian distribution in Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Tibet according to species coefficient similarity between each zoogeographic province. The results show that the northern border lies from Qinling Mountains-Feng Xian (Shaanxi)-Debu (Gansu)-Aba (Sichuan)-Batang-Bomi (Tibet), to Linzhi districts, and the southern border is from Taibai-Feng Xian in Shaanxi-Wen Xian (Gansu)-Songpan-Kangding-Daocheng (Sichuan), to Zhongdian-Gongshan in Yunnan, and westward to Motuo and Bomi district in Tibet. Notas florísticas sobre Andalucía Oriental: Sierra Quintana (Jaén)

Se incluyen en este trabajo 40 taxones recolectados en la Sierra de Quintana (provincia de Jaén); la mayor parte de ellos constituyen novedades para la flora de esta provincia. Algunos se citan por primera vez para Andalucía oriental: Illecebrum verticillatum L., Cicendia filiformis (L.) Delarbre, Exaculum pusillum (Lam.) Carnel in Parl., Gratiola linifolia Vahl., Laurentia gasparrini (Tineo) Strobl., etc.

Aportaciones a la flora de Andalucía Oriental

Se comentan 14 taxones raros o no conocidos hasta ahora en Andalucía Oriental; para cada especie se aportan datos ecológicos, fitosociológicos y corológicos y en algunos casos también de tipo nomenclatural.

Algunas comunidades orófilas de Andalucía Oriental

Se proponen dos nuevas asociaciones de pastizales presentes en las montañas de Andalucía oriental: Brachypodio boissieri-Trisetetum velutini y Seseli granatensis-Festucetum hystricis. Así mismo se da cuenta de la ecología, corología y sinfitosociología de ambos sintáxones.

Notas florísticas y corológicas de Andalucía oriental

Se comenta el comportamiento ecológico y corologia de veinte táxones de Andalucia oriental poco o nada conocidos, de los que destacamos: Geum rivale L., Convolvulus cantabricus L., Scrophularia frutescens L., Plantago loeflingii L., Koeleria caudata (Link) Steudel y K. dasyphylla Willk.

Joining the `Crusade against the Giants': Keir Hardie's Fairy Tales and The Socialist Child Reader

This article focuses on Keir Hardie's forgotten fiction and journalism for children, published in his paper The Labour Leader during the 1890s. It argues that Hardie's dialogue with child correspondents was shaped by a socialist periodical culture that redefined reading as a communal, political activity. Relating Hardie's appropriation of fantasy to that of a fellow socialist editor, John Trevor, the article examines the fairy tale as a propaganda tool in the process of `making socialists', but also questions the model of child readers as passive consumers, arguing that young readers were both empowered and controlled by Hardie's journalistic strategies.
