The Development of the Concept of Music Education in Estonian Kindergartens, 1905-2008 : a Historical–Critical Overview

The dissertation focuses on the development of music education in Estonian kindergartens and the factors influencing it, analysed in the historical perspective relying on post-positivist paradigm. The study is based on the factors and subjects’ views on kindergarten music education from 1905 to 2008, recorded in written sources or ascertained by means of questionnaire and interview. The dissertation deals with music’s functions, music education in retrospective, factors influencing child’s musical aptitude and development and teacher’s role in it through the prism of history. The formation of Estonian kindergarten music education and the phenomenon of its development have been researched by stages: the first manifestations of music in kindergarten in 1905 - 1940; the formation of the concept of music education in 1941 - 1967 and the application of a unified system in 1968 - 1990. The work also outlines innovative trends in music education at the end of the last millennium and the beginning of this century, in 1991 - 2008. The study relies on a combined design and an analysis of historical archival material and empirical data. The empirical part of the study is based on the questionnaire (n=183) and interviews (n=18) carried out with kindergarten music teachers. The data has been analysed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The subject of the research is the content and activity types of kindergarten music education and the role of music teacher in their implementation. The study confirmed that fundamental changes took place in Estonian kindergarten music education due to the change in political power in the 1940s. Following the example of the Soviet system of education, music in kindergarten became an independent music educational orientation and the position of a professionally trained music teacher was established (1947). It was also confirmed that in the newly independent Estonian Republic under the influence of innovative trends a new paradigm of music education arose from the traditional singing-centred education towards the more balanced use of music activity types (attaching importance to the child-centred approach, an increase in the number and variety of activity types). The most important conclusions made in the dissertation are that there has been improvement and development deriving from contemporary trends in the clear concept that has evolved in Estonian kindergarten music education over a century; professionally trained music teachers have had a crucial role in shaping it; and kindergarten music education is firmly positioned as a part of preschool education in Estonian system of education. The complete validated mitochondrial genome of the silver gemfish Rexea solandri (Cuvier, 1832) (Perciformes, Gempylidae)

The silver gemfish Rexea solandri is an important economic resource but vulnerable to overfishing in Australian waters. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence is described from 1.6 million reads obtained via next generation sequencing. The total length of the mitogenome is 16,350 bp comprising 2 rRNA, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA and 2 non-coding regions. The mitogenome sequence was validated against sequences of PCR fragments and BLAST queries of Genbank. Gene order was equivalent to that found in marine fishes.

The complete validated mitochondrial genome of the black marlin Istiompax indica (Cuvier, 1832)

Two complete mitochondrial genomes of the black marlin Istiompax indica were assembled from approximately 3.5 and 2.5 million reads produced by Ion Torrent next generation sequencing. The complete genomes were 16,531 bp and 16,532 bp in length consisting of 2 rRNA, 13 protein-coding genes, 22tRNA and 2 coding regions. They demonstrated a similar A + T base (52.6%) to other teleosts. Intraspecific sequence variation was 99.5% for three I. indica mitogenomes and 99.7% for X. gladius. A lower value (85%) was found for the I. platypterus mitogenomes from genbank and accredited to inadvertent inclusion of gene regions from a con-familial species in one record, highlighting the need for cautious downstream use of genbank data. © 2014 Informa UK Ltd.

Antonin Artaud: por uma metafísica cruel

Ao entrarmos em contato com a obra de Gilles Deleuze, não podemos ignorar a influência de Antonin Artaud e da idéia de Crueldade no desenvolvimento de sua filosofia. Assim, cabe a pergunta: Qual é a importância de Antonin Artaud e do Teatro da Crueldade na constituição da Filosofia Contemporânea? A presente dissertação não pretende responder esta pergunta em toda sua complexidade, a sua pretensão é mais modesta, ela visa traçar algumas linhas que possam nos orientar nas relações complexas entre o pensamento de Artaud e a Filosofia, entre o Teatro da Crueldade e o Teatro Filosófico. Assim, partimos da idéia de uma Metafísica da Crueldade, tal como nos é apresentada por Camille Dumoulié, para uma Metafísica Cruel, uma metafísica que já é ela mesma uma experimentação. Pensar a crueldade como um teatro metafísico põe em crise o Sistema da Representação: tarefa do pensamento contemporâneo. Dessa forma, compreender a Filosofia e a Arte Contemporâneas torna Antonin Artaud uma passagem obrigatória.

História e direito: divórcio e condição feminina na documentação judicial do Rio de Janeiro (1832-1889)

A dissertação visa analisar a condição feminina no Rio de Janeiro do século XIX a partir de documentos judiciais de divórcio, investigando as experiências que as mulheres oitocentistas experimentaram quando demandavam ou eram demandadas na justiça. A documentação permite demonstrar o modo como elas vivenciaram as dificuldades sociais provenientes de sua condição jurídica e como estavam inseridas nos espaços institucionalizados de poder. Através das falas das próprias mulheres observamos como a Igreja e o Estado utilizaram-se da família e do matrimônio como instrumentos de manutenção da dominação sobre o universo feminino. A escolha do Rio de Janeiro como recorte geográfico deu-se em função da importância econômica, política e social que, como capital, a cidade assumiu no século XIX. O recorte temporal 1832 a 1889 tomou por parâmetros o surgimento de duas normas legais que vão trazer modificações significativas para a organização da Justiça do Império e para o tema específico do divórcio.
