A Geometric Characterization of Interpolation in $\hat{\E}^\prime(\R)$

We give a geometric description of the interpolating varieties for the algebra of Fourier transforms of distributions (or Beurling ultradistributions) with compact support on the real line.

Heterologous prime-boost regimen adenovector 35-circumsporozoite protein vaccine/recombinant Bacillus Calmette-Guérin expressing the Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite induces enhanced long-term memory immunity in BALB/c mice.

BACKGROUND: Sustained antibody levels are a hallmark of immunity against many pathogens, and induction of long-term durable antibody titers is an essential feature of effective vaccines. Heterologous prime-boost approaches with vectors are optimal strategies to improve a broad and prolonged immunogenicity of malaria vaccines. RESULTS: In this study, we demonstrate that the heterologous prime-boost regimen Ad35-CS/BCG-CS induces stronger immune responses by enhancing type 1 cellular producing-cells with high levels of CSp-specific IFN-γ and cytophilic IgG2a antibodies as compared to a homologous BCG-CS and a heterologous BCG-CS/CSp prime-boost regimen. Moreover, the heterologous prime-boost regimen elicits the highest level of LLPC-mediated immune responses. CONCLUSION: The increased IFN-γ-producing cell responses induced by the combination of Ad35-CS/BCG-CS and sustained type 1 antibody profile together with high levels of LLPCs may be essential for the development of long-term protective immunity against liver-stage parasites.

El documental en la televisión europea: Análisis de los documentales y grandes reportajes en el prime-time de la temporada 2010-2011

La imposición progresiva de los imperativos comerciales sobre los de servicio en la televisión de las últimas décadas ha comportado la modificación de las cualidades originales del género documental y ha supuesto la progresiva desaparición de la información en profundidad de las parrillas programáticas. Este trabajo analiza el estado actual de la cuestión, cuantificando y analizando los documentales aparecidos en el prime-time de las principales televisiones europeas en la temporada 2010-2011. Los resultados demuestran una presencia mínima del documental en los mercados televisivos más importantes de Europa, exceptuando el Reino Unido.

Le fixateur externe dans les lésions traumatiques graves du bassin: résultats à propos de 20 cas consécutifs [External fixator in severe traumatic injuries of the pelvis: results apropos of 20 consecutive cases]

From August 91 to December 94, 20 external fixators were used for severely injured patients (avg. ISS 25.2). The fractures were essentially open book with or without lateral compression and vertical lesions. The indication for fixation was treatment of shock and stabilization in 8 cases, stabilization alone in 9 cases, and in 3 cases as complementary fixation after internal fixation of posterior lesions. The fixation of the pelvis was effective on the amount of blood loss. One acetabulum fracture required surgery, two patients had internal fixation for loss of reduction and two others for late pubic and posterior pain. The clinical results are good; they are more related to the severity of the initial lesion than to the mode of fixation or the quality of the reduction. No superficial sepsis or osteitis was observed in relation to the pins.

Robust vaccine-elicited cellular immune responses in breast milk following systemic Simian Immunodeficiency Virus DNA prime and live virus vector boost vaccination of lactating rhesus monkeys.

Breast milk transmission of HIV remains an important mode of infant HIV acquisition. Enhancement of mucosal HIV-specific immune responses in milk of HIV-infected mothers through vaccination may reduce milk virus load or protect against virus transmission in the infant gastrointestinal tract. However, the ability of HIV/SIV strategies to induce virus-specific immune responses in milk has not been studied. In this study, five uninfected, hormone-induced lactating, Mamu A*01(+) female rhesus monkey were systemically primed and boosted with rDNA and the attenuated poxvirus vector, NYVAC, containing the SIVmac239 gag-pol and envelope genes. The monkeys were boosted a second time with a recombinant Adenovirus serotype 5 vector containing matching immunogens. The vaccine-elicited immunodominant epitope-specific CD8(+) T lymphocyte response in milk was of similar or greater magnitude than that in blood and the vaginal tract but higher than that in the colon. Furthermore, the vaccine-elicited SIV Gag-specific CD4(+) and CD8(+) T lymphocyte polyfunctional cytokine responses were more robust in milk than in blood after each virus vector boost. Finally, SIV envelope-specific IgG responses were detected in milk of all monkeys after vaccination, whereas an SIV envelope-specific IgA response was only detected in one vaccinated monkey. Importantly, only limited and transient increases in the proportion of activated or CCR5-expressing CD4(+) T lymphocytes in milk occurred after vaccination. Therefore, systemic DNA prime and virus vector boost of lactating rhesus monkeys elicits potent virus-specific cellular and humoral immune responses in milk and may warrant further investigation as a strategy to impede breast milk transmission of HIV.

Financement des hôpitaux par APDRG versus financement des hôpitaux par tarif journalier : effets sur les assureurs maladie, en fonction de la structure de leur portefeuille, selon l'âge et le sexe

Une abondante littérature existe sur le financement des hôpitaux selon les DRG ou selon le prix de journée. Le but de la présente communication est d'analyser, dans le cadre de l'introduction des tarifs par APDRG en Suisse, les effets d'un changement dans le financement des hôpitaux sur les assureurs maladie, en fonction de la structure de leur portefeuille, selon l'âge et le sexe. S'est posée plus précisément la question de savoir si le fait de passer d'un remboursement à la journée à un remboursement par DRG aurait un effet sur les charges des assureurs qui ont une clientèle plus âgée que la moyenne ou une clientèle majoritairement féminine.
