Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on selvittää alueellisen lämmön- ja sähköntuotannon laskentamenetelmävalintojen vaikutuksia kasvihuonekaasupäästöihin. Työn tutkimuskysymyksenä on, onko mahdollista, että laskentamenetelmän valinnalla on suurempi vaikutus alueen kasvihuonekaasupäästöihin kuin energiantuotantotekniikan valinnalla. Laskentamenetelmävalinnoista tutkitaan tarkemmin CHP-laitoksen päästöjen allokointitavan ja sähkönpäästöjen määrittämisen vaikutuksia kasvihuonekaasupäästöihin. Tutkimusmenetelminä työssä on käytetty kirjallisuuskatsausta sekä tapaustutkimusta. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen aineistona käytetään tieteellisiä artikkeleita ja tutkimusraportteja. Tapaustutkimuksessa tutkitaan yksittäistä case-kohdetta, joka on Tampereen Härmälänrannan uudisrakennusalue, ja jossa vertaillaan maalämpöpumppua ja kaukolämpöä alueen lämmitysratkaisuina. Työn tuloksena todetaan, että on olemassa sellaisia tilanteita, joissa laskentamenetelmän valinnalla on suurempi vaikutus alueen kasvihuonekaasupäästöihin kuin energiantuotantotekniikan valinnalla. Lisäksi case-tarkastelun perusteella huomataan, että laskentamenetelmävalinnoilla on sitä suurempi merkitys, mitä enemmän CHP-laitoksessa käytetään uusiutuvaa polttoainetta. Työn johtopäätöksenä voidaan todeta, että energiantuotannon kasvihuonekaasupäästölaskennassa on syytä ymmärtää ja huomioida eri laskentamenetelmävalintojen vaikutus esitettyihin tuloksiin.

(Pólen de Magnoliopsida (Asteridae) e Liliopsida do perfil sedimentar de uma turfeira em São Francisco de Paula, Planalto Leste do Rio Grande do Sul, Sul do Brasil). O trabalho tem por finalidade fornecer material de referência para pesquisas paleopalinológicas no sul do Brasil através da análise do perfil sedimentar de uma turfeira do Planalto Leste do Rio Grande do Sul. São apresentados os grãos de pólen de Asteridae, Alismatidae, Commelinidae e Liliidae. O perfil possui 286 cm de comprimento correspondendo, aproximadamente, aos últimos 25.000 anos. O processamento químico das 22 amostras obtidas seguiu o método padrão e a análise foi feita em microscopia óptica. As descrições morfológicas, incluindo medidas dos eixos polar e equatorial, são acompanhadas de fotomicrografias e dados ecológicos do esporófito de origem. Foram identificados grãos correspondentes a 21 Asteridae, uma Alismatidae, quatro Commelinidae, três Liliidae e mais três grãos de pólen indeterminados de Angiospermas.

The purpose of this thesis is to identify attractive foreign markets for Kyrö Distillery Company. A small company with limited resources, it needs to make the right choices in their internationalization process to be able to succeed. Market research is needed. The amassed theory at the beginning gives insight and a general framework that we follow later in the empirical part; should they go abroad, where should the go and how are answered. After analyzing the company, the industry and all the necessary forces affecting the environment it was evident that they are ready to start their internationalization process and that the time is opportune. They have a quality brand that will not shy away even under closer inspection and their biggest impediment is access to distribution channels. After concluding that the company is fit to enter foreign markets a system of ranking countries in our target region was formed. Market data was painstakingly collected and analyzed resulting in an a priori list of attractive foreign market options to aid in the company's decision making. Finally we concluded that according to the transaction cost theory, it is beneficial for Kyrö Distillery Company to engage in partnerships, where local companies handle logistics and sales on their behalf.

New radiocarbon calibration curves, IntCal04 and Marine04, have been constructed and internationally ratified to replace the terrestrial and marine components of IntCal98. The new calibration data sets extend an additional 2000 yr, from 0-26 cal kyr BP (Before Present, 0 cal. BP = AD 1950), and provide much higher resolution, greater precision, and more detailed structure than IntCal98. For the Marine04 curve, dendrochronologically-dated tree-ring samples, converted with a box diffusion model to marine mixed-layer ages, cover the period from 0-10.5 call kyr BR Beyond 10.5 cal kyr BP, high-resolution marine data become available from foraminifera in varved sediments and U/Th-dated corals. The marine records are corrected with site-specific C-14 reservoir age information to provide a single global marine mixed-layer calibration from 10.5-26.0 cal kyr BR A substantial enhancement relative to IntCal98 is the introduction of a random walk model, which takes into account the uncertainty in both the calendar age and the C-14 age to calculate the underlying calibration curve (Buck and Blackwell, this issue). The marine data sets and calibration curve for marine samples from the surface mixed layer (Marine04) are discussed here. The tree-ring data sets, sources of uncertainty, and regional offsets are presented in detail in a companion paper by Reimer et al. (this issue).

A new calibration curve for the conversion of radiocarbon ages to calibrated (cal) ages has been constructed and internationally ratified to replace ImCal98, which extended from 0-24 cal kyr BP (Before Present, 0 cal BP = AD 1950). The new calibration data set for terrestrial samples extends from 0-26 cal kyr BP, but with much higher resolution beyond 11.4 cal kyr BP than ImCal98. Dendrochronologically-dated tree-ring samples cover the period from 0-12.4 cal kyr BP. Beyond the end of the tree rings, data from marine records (corals and foraminifera) are converted to the atmospheric equivalent with a site-specific marine reservoir correction to provide terrestrial calibration from 12.4-26.0 cal kyr BP. A substantial enhancement relative to ImCal98 is the introduction of a coherent statistical approach based on a random walk model, which takes into account the uncertainty in both the calendar age and the C-14 age to calculate the underlying calibration curve (Buck and Blackwell, this issue). The tree-ring data sets, sources of uncertainty, and regional offsets are discussed here. The marine data sets and calibration curve for marine samples from the surface mixed layer (Marine 04) are discussed in brief, but details are presented in Hughen et al. (this issue a). We do not make a recommendation for calibration beyond 26 cal kyr BP at this time; however, potential calibration data sets are compared in another paper (van der Plicht et al., this issue).
