This work aimed a better understanding of the annual cycle of Cyphocarax modestus in the reservoir of water captation of Ribeirao Claro stream. The growth parameters were estimated through the analysis of length distribution and the relationships among time of smaller growth, alimentary activity, fat accumulation and reproductive period were considered. Besides, the instantaneous rate of natural mortality was calculated. Monthly samplings were accomplished in the Ribeirao Claro stream, in the reservoir of water captation of Rio Claro city. For that, 50 m of wait net was used, with meshes of 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 cm measured between adjacent knots. The ELEFAN I program was used to estimate the growth parameters, and its application was done using the FISAT program. It was also used the seasonal version of von Bertalanffy's growth curve. It was considered that the reproduction of C. modestus is annual and concentrated from December to February, allowing the identification of different modas in the distributions, an essential condition for the conduction of that analysis type. The estimated parameters were: K = 0.34/year, L [infinity] = 15.40 cm, C = 0.2, Wp = 0.6 and M = 0.949/year, with the identification of four cohorts. The physiologic sequence in the annual cycle of the specie could be noted when data of accumulated fat in the visceral cavity, alimentary activity, reproduction time and time of smaller growth were analyzed together. It was noted that with the beginning of the maturation of gonads, the energy resources stopped being invested in the growth and passed to be used for reproduction.

Using the daily rainfall data from 1961 through 1980 the frequency of dry and wet periods was determined. The results of the frequency distribution of dry and wet periods indicated that observed data fit very closely an equation of the type Y = aebn. -after English summary

The modernization process has been introduced in the agricultural sector without any technical control. This process has provoked loss of food quality, serious damage to the worker's health and environmental degradation. The lack of technical assistance is total and farmers are not interested in the hazards involved. -after English summary

The Rio Claro Formation mainly occurs in the county of Rio Claro (SP) lying unconformably on Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks. Its thickness is 30-40 m. It shows fine to coarse, regular to poor sorted, Triable sandstones and conglomerates with quartzite and quartz clasts in the base. Thin layers of mudstone occur interbeded. Stratigraphic maps had been elaborated in recent analyses allowing to improve the knowledge about the formation. The biggest thicknesses occur on the east part of the studied area. The coarse/fine clastic ratio map demonstrates that fine sediments are concentrated in the east side, and suggests the existence of barriers which conditioned perennial water body (or bodies) where decantation took place (east, south and southeast sides). The structural contour map of the Rio Claro Formation base indicates a NW/SE trough which was the main depositional axis. The integrated analysis demonstrates that the formation is formed by lacustrine, fluvial and debris flows deposits whose source area was located on NW side, with coalescent alluvial fans from where braided to psamitic meandering fluvial channels came. The location of the source area suggests no link with the Corumbataf River paleo-terraces.

The environmental analysis is an important tool used in forecasting and mitigation of environmental problems. Focusing on the occupation of marginal areas of the Corumbataí River in an urban stretch in the city of Rio Claro (SP), this study aimed to gather information on situations of risk, both to the environment and the population, verified in that area. Through field observation and in specific studies, the geological and geotechnical aspects, the characteristics of surface waters and aspects of urbanization were analyzed. The results show that the environmental problems diagnosed are related to lack of planning in the occupation of the area. Moreover, the natural characteristics of the physical environment expose people to risks such as floods and soil slides.
