Descrevem-se alguns testes simples de tradução e retroversão a que submetemos um programa de tradução automática disponível online. As soluções obtidas permitem analisar e estimar a sua fiabilidade. Conclui-se que o referido programa tem um desempenho sofrível, não sendo aconselhável a sua utilização como auxiliar no processo de tradução ou retroversão de textos.

Estudio intertextual en dos cuentos de Borges : Pierre Menard, autor del Quijote y La biblioteca de Babel

This studyfocuses on the theory of intertextuality and on the most important approachesof Julia Kristeva, Gerard Genette and Ronald Barthestothis theory. It also examines the intertextual relationships in twoworksof Jorge Luis Borges:Pierre Menard, author of the Quixoteand The library of Babel. This studyconcludes that intertextual relations and issues are very often used in the works of Jorge Luis Borges. Analysis of histwoworks has shown the most obvious indicators of intertextuality such as allusions, quotations and references.

Babel subjetiva ou a mais completa tradução: considerações sobre Budapeste de Chico Buarque

This paper discusses aspects of Budapest, by Chico Buarque, published in 2003. In the novel, a contingency takes the protagonist, a Brazilian, to Hungary. There, involved within a culture quite distinct from his, he has experiences in a strange language, which “even the devil respects”, and with an interesting woman, who teaches him the language. Both, language and woman, turns into mirrors that refract and put his subjective experience, as babelic as the Hungarian, up side down. Considering contingency as a category from the Real (Lacan) and translation as mechanism of subjective search of a blot origin (Derrida), at the same time transcreation (Haroldo de Campos), we will pinpoint some ways to the novel reading.
