Vaikean ja pitkäaikaisen sairauden perusteella myönnetään tämän sairauden lääkkeisiin erityiskorvausoikeus, mikä tarkoittaa, että lääkkeistä maksetaan sairausvakuutuskorvauksena peruskorvausta (42 % lääkevalmisteen hinnasta) suurempi korvaus.

Flow Instabilities and fracture in Ti-6Al-4V deformed in compression at 298 K to 673 K

Uniaxial compression tests were conducted on Ti-6Al-4V specimens in the strain-rate range df 0.001 to 1 s(-1) and temperature range of 298 to 673 K. The stress-strain curves exhibited a peak flow stress followed by flow softening. Up to 523 K, the specimens cracked catastrophically after the flow softening started. Adiabatic shear banding was observed in this regime. The fracture surface exhibited both mode I and II fracture features. The state of stress existing in a compression test specimen when bulging occurs is responsible for this fracture. The instabilities observed in the present tests are classified as ''geometric'' in nature and are state-of-stress dependant, unlike the ''intrinsic'' instabilities, which are dependant on the dynamic constitutive behavior of the material.

Sonic hedgehog-Dependent Induction of MicroRNA 31 and MicroRNA 150 Regulates Mycobacterium bovis BCG-Driven Toll-Like Receptor 2 Signaling

Hedgehog (HH) signaling is a significant regulator of cell fate decisions during embryogenesis, development, and perpetuation of various disease conditions. Testing whether pathogen-specific HH signaling promotes unique innate recognition of intracellular bacteria, we demonstrate that among diverse Gram-positive or Gram-negative microbes, Mycobacterium bovis BCG, a vaccine strain, elicits a robust activation of Sonic HH (SHH) signaling in macrophages. Interestingly, sustained tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) secretion by macrophages was essential for robust SHH activation, as TNF-alpha(-/-) macrophages exhibited compromised ability to activate SHH signaling. Neutralization of TNF-alpha or blockade of TNF-alpha receptor signaling significantly reduced the infection-induced SHH signaling activation both in vitro and in vivo. Intriguingly, activated SHH signaling downregulated M. bovis BCG-mediated Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) signaling events to regulate a battery of genes associated with divergent functions of M1/M2 macrophages. Genome-wide expression profiling as well as conventional gain-of-function or loss-of-function analysis showed that SHH signaling-responsive microRNA 31 (miR-31) and miR-150 target MyD88, an adaptor protein of TLR2 signaling, thus leading to suppression of TLR2 responses. SHH signaling signatures could be detected in vivo in tuberculosis patients and M. bovis BCG-challenged mice. Collectively, these investigations identify SHH signaling to be what we believe is one of the significant regulators of host-pathogen interactions.

Gibbs free energy of formation of rhodium sulfides

Using a solid-state electrochemical technique, thermodynamic properties of three sulfide phases (RhS0.882, Rh3S4, Rh2S3) in the binary system (Rh + S) are measured as a function of temperature over the range from (925 to 1275) K. Single crystal CaF2 is used as the electrolyte. The auxiliary electrode consisting of (CaS + CaF2) is designed in such a way that the sulfur chemical potential converts into an equivalent fluorine potential at each electrode. The sulfur potentials at the measuring electrodes are established by the mixtures of (Rh + RhS0.882), (RhS0.882 + Rh3S4) and (Rh3S4 + Rh2S3) respectively. A gas mixture (H-2 + H2S + Ar) of known composition fixes the sulfur potential at the reference electrode. A novel cell design with physical separation of rhodium sulfides in the measuring electrode from CaS in the auxiliary electrode is used to prevent interaction between the two sulfide phases. They equilibrate only via the gas phase in a hermetically sealed reference enclosure. Effects of heat exchanger design on the performance of a solid state hydrogen storage device

Heat exchanger design plays a significant role in the performance of solid state hydrogen storage device. In the present study, a cylindrical hydrogen storage device with an embedded annular heat exchanger tube with radial circular copper fins, is considered. A 3-D mathematical model of the storage device is developed to investigate the sorption performance of metal hydride (MH). A prototype of the device is fabricated for 1 kg of MH alloy, LaNi5, and tested at constant supply pressure of hydrogen, validating the simulation results. Absorption characteristics of storage device have been examined by varying different operating parameters such as hydrogen supply pressure and cooling fluid temperature and velocity. Absorption process is completed in 18 min when these parameters are 15 bar, 298 K and 1 m/s respectively. A study of geometric parameters of copper fins (such as perforation, number and thickness of fin) has been carried out to investigate their effects on absorption process.
