The products of the recB and recC genes are necessary for conjugal recombination and for repair of chromosomal double-chain breaks in Escherichia coli. The recD gene product combines with the RecB and RecC proteins to comprise RecBCD enzyme but is required for neither recombination nor repair. On the contrary, RecBCD enzyme is an exonuclease that inhibits recombination by destroying linear DNA. The RecD ejection model proposes that RecBCD enzyme enters a DNA duplex at a double-chain end and travels destructively until it encounters the recombination hot spot sequence chi. Chi then alters the RecBCD enzyme by weakening the affinity of the RecD subunit for the RecBC heterodimer. With the loss of the RecD subunit, the resulting protein, RecBC(D-), becomes deficient for exonuclease activity and proficient as a recombinagenic helicase. To test the model, genetic crosses between lambda phage were conducted in cells containing chi on a nonhomologous plasmid. Upon delivering a double-chain break to the plasmid, lambda recombined as if the cells had become recD mutants. The ability of chi to alter lambda recombination in trans was reversed by overproducing the RecD subunit. These results indicate that chi can influence a recombination act without directly participating in it.

Un recorrido por la producción de Le Corbusier evidencia la insistente presencia del cuadrado como base de las composiciones en diversos campos (urbanismo, arquitectura, pintura, mobiliario...) y en diferentes formatos (en planta, alzado y sección, o como marco, módulo y cuadrícula). La presente comunicación realiza un análisis formal (gráfico y simbólico) de sus proyectos y obras, rastreando los modos en que se utiliza el cuadrado permaneciendo en el tiempo como una constante recurrente. Para ello se recorren cuatro áreas temáticas que descienden en escala y en dimensiones: 1) capitolios, 2) museos, 3) pabellones y 4) casas, estudiando una serie de ejemplos en cada área a partir de los planos de la Fundación Le Corbusier, generando discursos que reconstruyen un hilo del tiempo en la evolución de los procesos compositivos. De este modo, se desgrana el empleo del cuadrado, en correspondencia con las áreas de estudio, como: 1º) perímetro de la plaza pública donde insertar las arquitecturas representativas, 2º) marco o caja-fuerte donde encerrar los tesoros artísticos (o sagrados), 3º) volumen cúbico abierto y desmontable y 4º) caja definida por la retícula de la estructura. El cuadrado es siempre un medio y no un fin. Persiste un intento de sugerir algunos de los orígenes en su formación clasicista, sus viajes y sus pinturas.

Com Sona l'ESO és un projecte en què s’integren música i dansa, literatura, llengua i educació amb una doble finalitat: traure fora de les quatre parets de l’aula el treball que es fa dia a dia amb l’alumnat i oferir-los l’oportunitat d’actuar en directe damunt d’un escenari. En aquest article es descriu el treball dins i fora de l’aula que culmina en aquest espectacle durant 16 edicions està recorrent diferents poblacions i centres del territori lingüístic i es posa en valor el caràcter multidisciplinari, la implicació social, el protagonisme de l’alumnat i l’èxit d’un treball que esdevé plenament aprenentatge significatiu.

In "Ijé: The Journey" movie, ten years later, Anya is accused of killing 3 men in a Hollywood Hills mansion - one of them her record-producer husband. It is unknown who made these manuscript copies of three letters from John Henry Tudor to Moody Noyes; they are not in Tudor's hand. The letters were written on September 23, 1800; November 7, 1800; and February 20, 1801. Noyes and Tudor were classmates at Harvard College, where both graduated in the class of 1800. The letters were written after they had graduated from Harvard, and in them Tudor recounts travels with his family around New England, including a stay in Saratoga and Ballston Springs, New York; his interest, shared by Moody, in entering into a store or other form of business, although he found "merchants in general [to be] a contemptible set of beings"; the maxims of the Duke de la Rochefoucauld; his hurt feelings at Moody's failure to answer his letters; and his imminent travels to Cuba with his brother, Frederic, made in hopes of restoring his health.

Almanac containing calendar pages with sporadic annotations of unidentified measurements and interleaved pages with short handwritten entries about Winthrop's daily activities, and astronomical and meteorological observations. The entries include personal notes about travel, his wife's travels, the weather, vegetable planting, the hiring and dismissal of servants, and the birth of Winthrop's son Adam (November 1748).

There is an entry noting the burning of Harvard Hall (January 24) and the smallpox inoculation of the Winthrops' children Johnny and Peggy (March 8). Some of the entries are in John Winthrop's hand, but the author of other entries cannot be conclusively identified as Hannah Winthrop.

The signers explain the health concerns motivating the brothers' travels southward and request that those who encounter them treat them with "kindness and brotherly love."

David Phips wrote this letter to Colonel Jonathan Snelling from Cambridge on July 12, 1773, to inform him that Massachusetts Governor Thomas Hutchinson had requested the accompaniment of guards during his travels from Milton to Cambridge on July 21, 1773, to attend the Harvard College Commencement exercises. In the letter, Phips informs Snelling that he has issued warrants to the guards, instructing them to congregate at the Sign of the Grey Hound in Roxbury, Massachusetts at eight o'clock on the morning of the 21st. He explains that twelve other men will march, under the command of Sub-Brigadier Sumner, to the Governor's home in Milton to escort him to Roxbury, where the larger party will assemble. These heightened security measures were certainly prompted by political unrest, although this is not stated explicitly in the letter. Phips concludes by saying: "I shall order a dinner for us at Bradish's, where I hope to have the pleasure to dine with you."

In this small paper-bound catalog, Benjamin Welles (1781-1860) listed books in the Harvard College Library which he wished to read. He presumably compiled the list by consulting the Library's 1790 printed catalog, as the works are categorized according to subjects outlined in that catalog (Antiquities, Astronomy, Ancient Authors, Biography, Sacred Criticism, Ethics, Geography, Geometry, History, Nature, Travels / Voyages, Natural Law, Logic, Metaphysics, Miscellaneous Works, Dramatic, Phililogy, Natural Philosophy, Poetry, Rhetoric, and Theology). The final pages of Welles' catalog, which he titles "Another Selection," list additional volumes he wished to read. These are listed alphabetically, A - G. Some titles throughout the catalog have been marked with a "+" perhaps to indicate that Welles had read them.
