Estás palabras significan lo mismo, cada cual, en su contexto, presenta algunos matices diferenciadores. Sumak kawsay es quichua ecuatoriano y expresa la idea de una vida no mejor, ni mejor que la de otros, ni en continuo desvivir por mejorarla, sino simplemente buena. La segunda componente del título viene del aymara boliviano e introduce el elemento comunitario, por lo que tal vez se podría traducir como “buen convivir”, la sociedad buena para todos en suficiente Armonía interna. Buen vivir, finalmente, y en las diversas lenguas de los países centrales, suele implicar el disfrute individual, material, hedonista e incesante. Un somero repaso al modo con que los medios utilizan dichas palabras y sus semejantes (buena vida, vivirbien) lo confirmaría. En algún ejemplo extremo encontrado recientemente en España, “buen vivir” casi se reduciría al “comer, beber y dormir”. En la Constitución ecuatoriana de 2008 puede leerse que “se reconoce el derecho de la población a vivir en un ambiente sano y ecológicamente equilibrado, que garantice la sostenibilidad y el buen vivir, sumak kawsay”. Por su parte, la Constitución boliviana de 2009 es algo más prolija al respecto pues recoge la pluralidad lingüística del país que dicha constitución reconoce como plurinacional, y dice que “el estado asume y promueve como principios ético-morales de la sociedad plural: ama qhilla, ama llulla, ama suwa (no seas flojo, no seas mentiroso, ni seas ladrón), suma qamaña (vivir bien),ñandereko (vida armoniosa), teko kavi (vida buena), ivi maraei (tierra sin mal) y qhapaj ñan (camino o vida noble)”.

Purpose – This paper extends the increasing debates about the role of international experience through mechanisms other than standard expatriation packages, in particular through the use of short-term assignments. It explores the different forms of short-term assignments (project work, commuter assignments, virtual international working and development assignments) and the different sets of positive and negative implications these can have for the company and the individuals concerned. The integration-differentiation debate is reflected here as elsewhere in IHRM, with the company moving towards greater centralization and control of its use of these assignments. Design/methodology/approach – Since the research is exploratory, we adopted a qualitative approach to get a more in-depth understanding on the realities the corporations and the assignees are facing. The study was implemented through a single case study setting in which the data were collected by interviewing (n=20) line managers, human resource management (HRM) staff and assignees themselves. In addition corporate documentation and other materials were reviewed. Findings – The present case study provides evidence about the characteristics of short-term assignments as well as the on the management of such assignments. The paper identifies various benefits and challenges involved in the use of short-term assignments both from the perspectives of the company and assignees. Furthermore, the findings support the view that a recent increase in the popularity of short-term assignments has not been matched by the development of HRM policies for such assignments. Research limitations/implications – As a single case study, limitations in the generalizability of the findings should be kept in mind. More large-scale research evidence is needed around different forms of international assignments beyond standard expatriation in order to fully capture the realities faced by international HRM specialists Practical implications – The paper identifies many challenges but also benefits of using short-term assignments. This study was conducted at three sites of different characteristics in Sao Paulo State Sao Paulo (SPA), Piracicaba (PRB) and Mate Atlantica Forest (MAT) PM(10), n-alkanes. pristane and phytane, PAHs, water-soluble ions and biomass burning tracers like levoglucosan and retene, were determined in quartz fiber filters. Samplings occurred on May 8th to August 8th, 2007 at the MAT site; on August 15th to 29th in 2007 and November 10th to 29th in 2008 at the PRB site and, March 13th to April 4th in 2007 and August 7th to 29th in 2008 at the SPA site Aliphatic compounds emitted biogenically were less abundant at the urban sites than at the forest site, and its distribution showed the influence of tropical vascular plants Air mass transport front biomass burning regions is likely to impact the sites with specific molecular markers The concentrations of all species were variable and dependent of seasonal changes In the most dry and polluted seasons, n-alkane and canon total concentrations were similar between the megacity and the biomass burning site PAHs and inorganic ion abundances were higher at Sao Paulo than Piracicaba, yet, the site influenced by biomass burning seems lobe the most impacted by the organic anion abundance in the atmosphere Pristane and phytane confirm the contamination by petroleum residues at urban sites, at the MAT site, biological activity and long range transport of pollutants might influence the levels of pristane (C) 2010 Elsevier B V All rights reserved

Nhembo'e : enquanto o encanto permanece! : processos e práticas de escolarização nas aldeias Guarani

A escola nas aldeias Guarani do Rio Grande do Sul é um acontecimento recente. Algumas TEKOÁ decidiram não abrigá-la em seu meio, considerando que a educação tradicional, assentada na cosmologia Guarani, é suficiente para o seu viver e, portanto, prescindem dos saberes escolares. Outras, evidenciando a necessidade de saberes que se relacionam à escola – como a escrita, a leitura, a Língua Portuguesa e o sistema monetário, entre outros –, a solicitam e a acolhem, iniciando processos e práticas de escolarização que afirmam o desejo de se apropriar de instrumentos que permitam um diálogo mais eqüitativo com a sociedade não indígena. Num movimento de interlocução com os gestores das políticas públicas, tensionam a Secretaria de Estado da Educação para criar condições de implementar a Escola Específica e Diferenciada nas aldeias. No entanto, experimentam a ambigüidade de uma aproximação e de um afastamento, de um querer e um não querer a escola em suas aldeias, pois intuem as mudanças que poderá desencadear no modo de vida tradicional. Para compreender os processos de implementação da escola do povo Guarani, e os significados que atribuem à educação escolar, dirigi o olhar e aprofundei o estudo em três aldeias do Rio Grande do Sul: TEKOÁ JATAÍTY (Cantagalo, município de Viamão), TEKOÁ ANHETENGUÁ (Lomba do Pinheiro, Porto Alegre) e TEKOÁ IGUA´PORÃ (Pacheca, município de Camaquã). Os movimentos de aproximação com a cosmologia Guarani e com o universo das aldeias, constituído através de um estar-junto sensível, e o com-viver com a totalidade cosmológica de cada lugar pesquisado possibilitou a elaboração de um contorno antropológico etnográfico que busca dizer dos Guarani desde si. A perspectiva teórica, assentada principalmente na aproximação da Educação com uma Antropologia Filosófica latino-americana, possibilitou a compreensão do pensamento indígena e da ambigüidade do “ser” europeu e do “estar” americano, presente nas aldeias e fora delas também. A pesquisa mostra que há nos preceitos educacionais da cosmologia Guarani um admirável mundo a ser desvendado, em que os significados de cada gesto, de cada ação mostram a integridade de um povo que sobrevive e se recria e a escola na aldeia poderá se inserir nesse universo e dialogar com todos os princípios que compõem a educação tradicional e a cosmologia Guarani.

A presente Dissertação tem como objeto a perspectiva ambiental na educação escolar Guarani. Para se constituir enquanto tal, buscou, no próprio seio da comunidade e da Escola Indígena, as respostas para o questionamento de como se dará, na Escola pensada pelos Guarani, a perspectiva ambiental: na sua própria teko’a, na relação com a Cidade e na relação com a tecnologia cidadã. Na busca de uma sistematização de possíveis respostas, primeiro, traça-se uma perspectiva antropológica da própria Cidade, lugar fundante da Escola, desde a ótica de Rodolfo Kusch sobre a relação entre o ambiente natural - no qual o granizo e a chuva, la ira de Dios, representam o temor – e o ambiente artificial – constituído no ambiente cidadão, onde reina la ira del hombre, representado no objeto e no afã de ser alguém; em segundo, apresenta-se os próprios Guarani e seu mero estar e, finalmente, em terceiro, a Escola e a perspectiva ambiental que perpassa o pensá-la e o próprio ensinar. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir das observações e conversas com as lideranças, os professores e os Karaí. Para tanto, serviu-se de instrumento do Diário de Campo, das gravações de entrevistas e dos registros fotográficos. A análise dos dados teve como substrato teórico a perspectiva do Cuidado, fundamentada em Martin Heidegger e da antropologia filosófica americana, fundamentada em Rodolfo Kusch. O trabalho mostra duas culturas – a cultura cidadã e a cultura Mbyá-Guarani – que se colocam na intersecção da própria Escola, onde um embrião de uma nova Escola, que já não aponta para o conhecimento científico como fundamento das suas práticas, parece estar se constituindo no ambiente da Tekoá.

In Brazil, there are three main codes that surround the issue of right or possession of various lands according to concepts of ownership or purchase. When it comes to indigenous issues in Brazil is difficult to say which legal code applies more fairly the native population of the country. In the case of the Indians who have their reserves near urban areas there is such a conflict of laws becomes more evident and takes even greater than in other regions of Brazil. As is the case in the indigenous villages of the District of Jaragua in Greater São Paulo, the Tekoá YTU and Tekoá Pyau. The two villages are located in northeastern São Paulo and currently are surrounded by continuous growth and disorderly city of Sao Paulo while their inhabitants fight to preserve the customs and traditions of the Guarani people. They prevail on the City Statute (2001), the Indian Statute (EDI) Environmental Laws and the National Council of Environment (CONAMA) and the Forestry Code, the latter solely because they are near the State Park Jaragua - area environmental preservation

Resumo: O presente estudo procura analisar sob as lentes da antropologia, a forma como as lideranças religiosas Mbya, cumprem os sonhos recebidos de Nhanderú Ete, iniciando a caminhada em direção a terra sem mal, a yvy marãe‟y; retornam ao local de ocupação antiga ou a indicada por Nhanderú, terra com a qual mantém laços históricos de luta. Os conflitos se intensificam com a demarcação/ampliação dos territórios ou de terra para o Guarani Mbya, como no caso do Pará, que andaram por cerca de cem anos até encontrar a terra onde exercitar o modo correto de se viver; o dissenso potencializa o etnocentrismo, a discriminação, o racismo, o estigma de ser índio, bugre, preguiçoso, alcoólatra, “raça inferior”. A pesquisa versa sobre o modo como "escolhem”, “adotam,” “retomam,” ressignificam, reterritorializam, guaranizam a terra onde pausaram a caminhada.

The QT interval, an electrocardiographic measure reflecting myocardial repolarization, is a heritable trait. QT prolongation is a risk factor for ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD) and could indicate the presence of the potentially lethal mendelian long-QT syndrome (LQTS). Using a genome-wide association and replication study in up to 100,000 individuals, we identified 35 common variant loci associated with QT interval that collectively explain ∼8-10% of QT-interval variation and highlight the importance of calcium regulation in myocardial repolarization. Rare variant analysis of 6 new QT interval-associated loci in 298 unrelated probands with LQTS identified coding variants not found in controls but of uncertain causality and therefore requiring validation. Several newly identified loci encode proteins that physically interact with other recognized repolarization proteins. Our integration of common variant association, expression and orthogonal protein-protein interaction screens provides new insights into cardiac electrophysiology and identifies new candidate genes for ventricular arrhythmias, LQTS and SCD.

Quantitative studies of the conditions and consequences of religious diversity are based mostly on indices that measure the variety of religious membership in a particular region. However, this line of research has become stagnant, and the question of whether diversity affects religious vitality remains unanswered. This article attempts to shed new light on the discussion by measuring religious diversity differently and capturing religious vitality independently of membership figures. In particular, it contrasts the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index based on membership proportions with a second measure of diversity: an index of organizational diversity. Conversely, the dependent variable religious vitality is measured not by using rates of participation in religious organizations but via the Centrality of Religion Scale. Based on ecological and individual level data of forty-three local regions in Finland, Germany, and Slovenia and using multilevel analysis, our results suggest that religious diversity is related to religious vitality. However, the nature of this association differs across subgroups.
