Resumo:
La Misión de Estabilización de las Naciones Unidas en Haití (MINUSTAH por sus siglas en francés) constituida por el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas mediante la resolución 1542 de 2004 se ha planteado dos grandes objetivos. El primero hace referencia a la reestructruración de la Fuerza Pública haitiana para el aseguramiento de un entorno seguro y estable, mientras que un segundo objetivo responde a la consolidación de un proceso democrático. La intervención de la Misión ha dejado como resultado diferentes alcances y limitaciones. Por otro lado, el estudio de la misma es de particular interés para la comunidad académica latinoamericana ya que Argentina y Brasil han estado liderando la intervención de la MINUSTAH. Teniendo en cuenta todo lo anterior, el presente trabajo de grado se centró principalmente en analizar el papel de estos países sudamericanos, como peacekeepers o garantes de paz, en la Misión de estabilización de las Naciones Unidas en Haití.
