L'objectiu d'aquest projecte és estudiar i implementar una solució segura de connectivitat sense fil a la infraestructura actual aprofitant al màxim tots els sistemes ja implementats, de manera que no pateixin greus canvis estructurals.

Actualment l'ús de la criptografia ha arribat a ser del tot generalitzat, tant en els processos de transmissió i intercanvi segur d'informació, com en l'emmagatzematge secret de dades. Es tracta d'una disciplina els fonaments teòrics de la qual són en l'Àlgebra i en el Càlcul de Probabilitats. La programació d'interfícies gràfiques s'ha realitzat en Java i amb la manipulació, tot i que molt elemental, de documents XML.

Una extensió de LaCOLLA : abstracció de processament

En aquest PFC s'estudia la possibilitat d'estendre LaCOLLA dotant-la d'abstracció de processament: es tracta d?oferir a les aplicacions la possibilitat d'utilitzar els recursos del grup per a executar processos de la manera més eficient i segura possible, sense que les aplicacions s'hagin de preocupar d'on i quan s'executen aquests processos.

The attractiveness of nations in global competition : an empirical assessment of the effects of country attractiveness on the success of strategy for hosting international sports events, 1990-2012

This dissertation aims to investigate empirical evidence on the importance and influence of attractiveness of nations in global competition. The notion of country attractiveness, which has been widely developed in the research areas of international business, tourism and migration, is a multi-dimensional construct to measure a country's characteristics with regard to its market or destination that attract international investors, tourists and migrants. This analytical concept provides an account of the mechanism as to how potential stakeholders evaluate more attractive countries based on certain criteria. Thus, in the field of international sport-event bidding, do international sport event owners also have specific country attractiveness for their sport event hosts? The dissertation attempts to address this research question by statistically assessing the effects of country attractiveness on the success of strategy for hosting international sports events. Based on theories of signaling and soft power, country attractiveness is defined and measured as the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental attractiveness. This thesis proceeds to examine the concept of sport-event-hosting strategy and explore multi-level factors affecting the success in international sport-event bidding. By exploring past history of the Olympic Movement from theoretical perspectives, the thesis proposes and tests the hypotheses that economic, social and environmental attractiveness of a country may be correlated with its bid wins or the success of sport-event-hosting strategy. Quantitative analytical methods with various robustness checks are employed with using collected data on bidding results of major events in Olympic sports during the period from 1990 to 2012. The analysis results reveal that event owners of international Olympic sports are likely to prefer countries that have higher economic, social, and environmental attractiveness. The empirical assessment of this thesis suggests that high country attractiveness can be an essential element of prerequisites for a city/country to secure in order to bid with an increased chance of success.

Ireland’s further education and training system faces major challenges at a time of severe economic crisis. The unprecedented level of unemployment -14.8% of our labour force is unemployed - has resulted in significantly increased demand for education and training. More and more people are seeking to upskill or reskill in order to enter or re-enter the labour market and the need to upskill those who have lost their jobs has become obvious to us all. The Government is re-inventing Ireland’s economy so that it is competitive, sustainable and provides opportunities for all to secure employment. The State has a fundamental role in this challenge and there is a particular need to respond with activation measures that provide clear and purposeful pathways to employment, either directly or via further and higher education and training

Anti Bullying Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools

The role of the school is to provide an appropriate education for all its pupils. A stable, secure learning environment is an essential requirement to achieve this goal. Bullying behaviour, by its very nature, undermines and dilutes the quality of education. Research shows that bullying can have short and long-term effects on the physical and mental well-being of pupils, on engagement with school, on self-confidence and on the ability to pursue ambitions and interests. School-based bullying can be positively and firmly addressed through a range of school-based measures and strategies through which all members of the school community are enabled to act effectively in dealing with this behaviour. While it is recognised that home and societal factors play a substantial role both in the cause and in the prevention of bullying, the role of the school in preventative work is also crucial and should not be underestimated. School-based initiatives can either reinforce positive efforts or help counteract unsuccessful attempts of parents to change unacceptable behaviour. Parents and pupils have a particularly important role and responsibility in helping the school to prevent and address school-based bullying behaviour and to deal with any negative impact within school of bullying behaviour that occurs elsewhere. In this document, any reference(s) to parent(s) can be taken to refer also to guardian(s) where applicable.

Report of the Advisory Group on Post Primary Teacher Education

The occasion of this report on Teacher Education is timely. The teaching profession is now confronted with major challenges. Schooling has changed very radically in the recent past. Other review exercises of the education system have taken place and it is a time when a new legislative framework, better accommodated to the diversity of the range of duties and responsibilities of the teacher and school, is emerging. It is anticipated that the Report will stimulate debate, secure a new platform for development and provide for a framework for teacher education models which is better disposed towards the well being of the profession and the service to society it wishes to provide.

El Banc Electrònic d'Historials Mèdics és un aplicatiu basat en l'arquitectura client-servidor que permet l'intercanvi segur de la informació continguda en els historials clínics dels pacients de la salut.

Disseny i implementació en Java d'un sistema segur de descàrrega anònima de fitxers format per aplicacions web basades en XML i amb autenticació del client per part d'un tercer mitjançant una PKI

En aquest TFC s'ha proposat dissenyar i implementar en llenguatge Java un sistema segur de descàrrega anònima de fitxers. Per fer aquesta tasca es proposa un conjunt d'aplicacions web que es s'intercanviaran dades en format XML de forma segura, sempre sota protocol HTTPS i mantenint la integritat, autenticitat i autenticació de les parts amb l'ajut d'un PKI.

Implementació d'un esquema criptogràfic per gestionar de forma segura els historials mèdics dels pacients a través d'una xarxa de comunicacions

En aquest projecte final de carrera es presenta un sistema capaç de gestionar i emmagatzemar leshistòries mèdiques dels pacients. El sistema permetrà realitzar operacions de lectura i modificació de dades sobre els expedients mèdics de manera segura i fiable tenint en compte que els accessos a la informació s'efectuen a través d'una xarxa de comunicació.

En el PFC implementarem en Java una aplicació per gestionar historials mèdics de manerasegura. Està desenvolupada seguint el model de capa de dades, capa de negoci i capa depresentació i el resultat són tres parts que anomenarem ¿part del gestor¿, ¿part del pacient¿ i ¿part del metge¿.
