Esta pesquisa analisou as diversas soluções para atenuar os níveis de ruído dos tratores e propor um projeto de redução do ruído na sua fonte. Para tal, se propôs projetar, executar e testar alterações em componentes mecânicos causadores de ruído nos tratores, fazendo com que esses níveis se enquadrem em valores considerados salubres. Todas alterações e ensaios foram executados num trator Massey Ferguson MF 290. Para a redução do ruído foram atacados as 3 fontes principais de ruído do trator : o sistema de exaustão de gases, a hélice do sistema de arrefecimento e o sistema de admissão de ar. Como conclusão final pode-se afirmar que é possível atenuar o ruído de tratores agrícolas até níveis salubres (que não causem perda de audição a seus operadores), atuando-se exclusivamente nas fontes de ruído (motor e seus acessórios).

Soil that has a high degree of weathering, with more inorganic P bound to Fe and Al oxides, has less P availability to plants. Thus, the critical element of a plant refers to the level below which the growth rate and plant production decreases, demonstrating the need for supplementary fertilization. Accordingly, an experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at Embrapa Algodao with the objective of evaluating the response of castor plants to five doses of P in four types of soil with different adsorption characteristics and critical levels of foliar P. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4 x 5 factorial design, four types of soil and 5 levels of P with four replications. For TCo, there was an increase in height growth, with dose of 229.6 mg dm(-3) responsible for maximum plant height (74.3 cm). The largest diameter stem (17.58 mm) was observed in CXve with an application of 229.6 mg dm(-3) of P; a decrease was seen when using higher doses. The increase in leaf area was smaller in RY (4724.8 cm(2)), where it was obtained with a dose of 280.2 mg dm(-3). In general, critical levels of P in the plant shoots did not vary much between the soils. The critical level of P in castor bean shoot dry mass was higher (4.61 g kg(-1)) in TCo, this result being directly related to the low clay content of the soil.

The objective was to evaluate fatty acids composition of the back fat in loin meat (Longissimus muscle) from Nellore and Canchim young bulls. The animals were finished at feedlot and received sugar cane diets with two concentrate levels (40 and 60% of dry matter). The concentrates were formulated with sunflower grains, corn, soybean meal, dry sugar cane yeast, urea and mineral mixture. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with a 2x2 factorial arrangement (genetic group x concentrate level), and the results were submitted to the variance analysis and means compared by Tukey test at 5% probability, when the interaction was significant. The loin backfat of Nellore bulls had higher concentration of conjugated linoleic acids than Canchim bulls (0.86 and 0.59%, respectively). On the other hand, the loin back fat of Canchim bulls had higher concentrations of estearic (17.07%) and linoleic acids (2.40%) and polyunsaturated fatty acids than Nellore bulls, that showed values of 13.47 and 1.44%, respectively. The Nellore and Canchim loin back fat presents significant amounts of beneficial fatty acids to human health. Levels of 40 and 60% of concentrate in the diet did not alter the fatty acids composition of loin backfat.

Currently , as a result of the significant increase in the number of elderly, one can observe an increase in the number of chronic diseases , among them Alzheimer's disease (AD) , which affects both patients and their caregivers , that due care with the patient , just overwhelmed , anxious and depressed. Therefore, this study aims to draw a profile of caregivers of Alzheimer's patients, correlating the physical activity of patients with levels of overload, anxiety, depression caregivers. For both sample consisted of 40 patients with AD to characterize the physical activity levels and perform activities of daily living. In addition, we evaluated 40 caregivers. Patient assessment was made through a medical history, beyond the score Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), Mini - Mental State Examination (MMSE), Modified Baecke Questionnaire for Older Adults (MBQ) , Functional Activities Questionnaire PFEFFER (QAFP) , and the Self Perception Performance in Activities of Daily Living (EAPAVD). For assessing the caregiver was also used an interview, then the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), anxiety and depression scale (HAD) Scale and the Zarit caregiver burden (Zarit). The data were processed using descriptive procedures for the analysis of characterization of samples, such as cognitive screening and physical activity level and profile of caregivers. There was a normal distribution of the data using the Shapiro Wilk, For data with normal distribution were used parametric descriptive procedures using One Way ANOVA to compare groups and applying a post hoc Bonferroni. As for the data that showed the destruction not normal was used to standardize the test by Z -score , and then treated by means of parametric statistical procedures , as presented earlier . The main objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of variables related to swim ability at and above maximal lactate steady state (MLSS), performed at continuous and intermittent conditions in individuals with different aerobic performance levels. Participated of this study male swimmers with ages between 20 to 25 years, specialists in events of 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m and open water swims, with at least 3 years of experience in the modality. The individuals performed a maximal 400-m swim test. After this test, they were divided into two groups, in accordance with the speed attained during 400-m swim test: G1 (higher performance) and G2 (lower performance). For the determination of continuous MLSS (MLSSc), 2 to 4 trials of 30-min were performed. For the determination of the intermittent MLSS (MLSSi) 2 to 4 trials of 30-min (12 repetitions of 2 min 30 s, with 30 s of rest) were performed, in constant speed, with the first trial performed at 102.5% MLSSc. Th technical indexes, stroke rate (FB) and stroke length (CB) were determined in all tests. The SR was calculated trough recordings using the time needed to perform five stroke cycles. The SL was calculated dividing the speed by the SR. There was no significant difference on the antropometric characteristics between groups. The speed at and above MLSSc were significantly higher at G1 (1,23±0,05 e 1,27±0,06, respectively) than G2 (1,10±0,06 e 1,13±0,06, respectively). There was significant change in SL and SR in G2. In the same way, there was significant change in SL and SR only in G2, above MLSSc. Similar to continuous condition, the speeds at and above MLSSi were significantly higher in G1 (1,27±0,05 e 1,30±0,05, respectively) do que no G2 (1,14±0,07 e 1,16±0,07, respectively). O alumínio está presente de forma marcante em nosso cotidiano, com várias possibilidades de contaminação para o ser humano e animais, através da ingestão de alimentos ou aditivos presentes nos alimentos ou, também, através do uso de medicamentos. Por apresentar uma forte carga elétrica, um forte poder de polarização e características similares com elementos da hidroxiapatita, o alumínio age como um competidor de nutrientes na matriz óssea, Por isso, ele pode ser causa danos à saúde dos seres vivos, como a osteoporose. Diante disso, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivos estudar a influência de diferentes níveis de alumínio na dieta de codornas poedeiras, sobre as características físicas e químicas de seus ossos. A densidade e a porosidade óssea foram determinadas pelo método de imersão em água, utilizando o princípio de Arquimedes. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que concetrações até 20 mg de alumínio por kg de ração fornecida causa uma diminuição na densidade óssea e volta a aumentar para concetrações maiores que este limiar. A porosidade óssea, segue o inverso da densidade. Ela aumenta com concetrações até 20 mg de alumínio por kg de ração fornecida e volta a diminuir para concetrações menores

This descriptive study aimed to investigate what changes of emotional states more sensitive to internal and external influences and to investigate the motivating factors and stressors in basketball players of a Regional Championship of the Interior . Study subjects were 56 (fifty - six) athletes, members of 05 (five) highest ranked teams in the competition. As a measuring tool used the Frester ‟sP sychicLoad Test (1972, apud SAMULSKI, CHAGAS, 1992) . Data analys used descriptive statistics. The findings showed that the facts considered as motivators during the competition were: the audience, the fact of constantly thinking on achieving the desirable aims, and the establishment of very high aims; the stressful factors were: disagreements and conflicts with the coach, partners or family, bad sleeping the night before the competition, excessive nervousness and to be prejudiced by the referees . Therefore, we can conclude: the facts that influence the interest can be of motivating or stressful order , depending on the personal and situational perception; most athletes characterized the competiti ve sport as more stressful than motivating, and this assessment influenced by constant pressure of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that athletes suffers during the competitive environment

The eggs are pointed in several studies as the main cause of human salmonellosis. Have been identified that eggs are eaten raw or poorly processed are mainly responsible for outbreaks of human infection with Salmonella spp. Besides causing problems to public health, the presence of bacteria impedes or hinders the international food trade, as a sanitary barrier. Several factors predisposing to contamination of the internal contents of eggs for Salmonella spp., including the egg shell quality (shell quality), which is related to levels of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in the diet of quails . The experiment used eggs of Japanese quail under different diets containing two levels of Ca (2.0 and 3.5%) and two levels of available P (0.25 and 0.45%). Eggs of 120 japanese quails were divided into four treatments with three replicates. The experiment was divided into three production stages: initial, intermediate and final. Were assessed at each stage the presence of bacteria in internal and external content of experimentally contaminated eggs during periods of 0, 24, 96 and 168 hours after immersion in broth containing Salmonella Enteriditis. Salmonella Enteriditis was detected in the shell during all periods of storage, in decreasing amounts in all treatments. None of the treatments within the three production stages analyzed, we detected significant amounts of the bacteria inside the egg, in our experimental conditions. Therefore, the levels of Ca and P in the diets of quail do not determine higher or lower risks to public health represented by eggs

O sucesso de uma espécie em um hábitat é dependente de seu desempenho ecofisiológico, que pode ser definido com variáveis de crescimento, que, por sua vez, pode relacionar-se aos recursos naturais disponíveis. Um dos fatores determinantes da ocorrência de espécies é o fator edáfico. A baixa fertilidade do solo das fisionomias do Cerrado são semelhantes, mostrando altos teores de alumínio (Al3+) e baixo pH. Contudo, solos de matas de brejo, onde Styrax pohlii é freqüente, apresentam teores levemente maiores de matéria orgânica. Logo, é possível que esta maior fertilidade do solo possa influenciar o crescimento de S. pohlii, podendo explicar sua maior ocorrência nestes hábitats. Objetivou-se medir a biomassa de órgãos, área foliar, número de folhas, área foliar específica, razão de massa de folhas e a razão de área foliar de plantas de S. pohlii, submetidas a diferentes cargas de nutrientes em cultivo hidropônico. Testou-se a hipótese de que diferentes cargas de nutrientes (100%, 50%, 25%, 10% e 1% da concentração total de uma solução nutritiva) alteram as variáveis de crescimento da espécie. As plantas foram cultivadas em caixas plásticas (20 L), contendo as diferentes cargas de nutrientes, em solução nutritiva com alumínio (Al3+) e pH 4,0. Utilizaram-se 20 parcelas (caixas plásticas) com cinco repetições (plantas) por parcela, perfazendo um total de 100 plantas. Realizaram-se quatro coletas (a cada 30 dias), onde as variáveis foram medidas. Os resultados mostraram que a espécie não respondeu a incrementos de nutrientes na solução nutritiva, podendo ela ser considerada não plástica a fatores edáficos. Considerando a grande ocorrência de indivíduos de S. pohlii em matas ripárias, ciliares e de brejo, os resultados sugerem que a fertilidade levemente maior nesses ambientes, dada pela elevação da matéria orgânica, não explica totalmente sua maior ocorrência nessas vegetações

A gênese da hipertensão arterial têm sido associada à presença de polimorfismos em alguns genes, em específico no gene da eNOS. O polimorfismo no Íntron 4 é caracterizado por um Número Variável de Repetições em Tandem, no qual o alelo 4a foi relacionado a baixos níveis de nitrito/nitrato. Os indivíduos 4a/a exibiram 20% menos óxido nítrico (NO) que os indivíduos com genótipos 4b/b, assim como diminuições na expressão protéica da eNOS. Acredita-se que a alteração polimórfica de único nucleotídeo (SNP), na posição - 786 do gene da eNOS esteja relacionada à modulação do gene através da ação de uma proteína repressora chamada de RPA1, capaz de diminuir a quantidade de mRNA, e nitrito/nitrato plasmático; demonstrando sua provável contribuição para o aumento dos valores de pressão arterial. Apenas dois trabalhos mostram uma associação entre os polimorfismos do Intron 4 e -786, demonstrando que o 4a/4a apresenta uma possível ligação de desequilíbrio com a posição -786, sugerindo uma associação positiva entre polimorfismos e prevalência de espasmos coronários e redução na produção endotelial de NO. No entanto, nenhum trabalho avaliou a associação entre o nível de atividade física e a presença de polimorfismo no Íntron 4 e -786 juntos. Assim, os objetivos deste trabalho foram: verificar se existe relação entre a prevalência de hipertensão arterial e a presença do polimorfismo para o gene da eNOS nas duas posições - 786 e Íntron 4, separadamente e juntamente, em voluntários acima de 40 anos e também avaliar se existe relação entre o nível de atividade física e os valores de pressão arterial em indivíduos com e sem estes polimorfismos. Considering the growing degradation of the urban environmental quality resulting from the progressive sound pollution increase, as well as the consequent harmful effects about the human health, the present study had its central objective the argument and management tools implementation of the urban noise that can be integrated to the environmental planning in the city of Rio Claro (SP). Therefore, normative and bibliographical revisions were developed, that made feasible the directives of control argument and prevention of the urban noise, as well as the technical procedures of sound levels and evaluation’s definition and especially about the criteria applicable for the elaboration of an urban acoustic zoning methodology. Among the main results obtained detach: (1) the applicable legislation to the management of urban noise’s synthesis and argument; (2) the methodology of urban acoustic zoning development and (3) its implementation to determined areas of Rio Claro (SP) with the (4) respective cartography representation; (5) the mapping of sound levels in the central zone of Rio Claro (SP), (6) the obtaining and analysis of noise describers (LAeq, Lmáx, L10, L50, L90, Lmin and TNI) and the subsequent (7) acoustic maps elaboration for the main describers.
