Comparative Strain Gauge Analysis of External and Internal Hexagon, Morse Taper, and Influence of Straight and Offset Implant Configuration

Purpose: The present study was designed to analyze strain distributions caused by varying the fixture-abutment design and fixture alignment.Materials and Methods: Three implants of external, internal hexagon, and Morse taper were embedded in the center of each polyurethane block in straight placement and offset placement. Four strain gauges (SGs) were bonded on the surface of polyurethane block, which was designated SG1 placed mesially adjacent to implant A, SG2 and SG3 were placed mesially and distally adjacent to the implant B and SG4 was placed distally adjacent to the implant C. The 30 superstructures' occlusal screws were tightened onto the Microunit abutments with a torque of 10 N cm using the manufacturers' manual torque-controlling device.Results: There were statistically significant differences in prosthetic connection (P value = 0.0074 < 0.5). There were no statistically significant differences in placement configuration/alignment (P value = 0.7812 > 0.5).Conclusion: The results showed fundamental differences in both conditions. There was no evidence that there was any advantage to offset implant placement in reducing the strain around implants. The results also revealed that the internal hexagon and Morse taper joints did not reduce the microstrain around implants. (Implant Dent 2011; 20:e24-e32)

Classification of basis states for (p-f)-nuclei (41 <= A <= 80) with minimal configuration energy

We give a complete classification of basis with unitari (U(A-1), U(3)) and permutational (S)A)) symmetries. Thse are suitable as functions for (p-f)- nuclei (41<= A <= 80) with minimal configuration energy. We also give a brief survey of way in which are obtained.

Global stratigraphy, palaeobiogeography and palaeoecology of Albian-Maastrichtian pithonellid calcispheres: impact on Tethys configuration

This study reviews the stratigraphy, palaeobiogeography and palaeoecology of some important Albian-Maastrichtian pelagic calcispheres: Bonetocardiella conoidea, Pithonella ovalis, P. perlonga, P. sphaerica and P. trejoi. It also presents a significant new data set on these organisms from the western South Atlantic Ocean. The group reached its acme simultaneously all over the world during the highest Cretaceous sea level in late Albian to Coniacian times. A strong association also existed between the maximum temperature and the salinity of the Tethyan water mass and the climax of these opportunistic microfossils. Their remarkable presence along the Brazilian and west African margins during the Albian, in association with other typical Tethyan pelagic biotic elements, indicates that during this period the northern South Atlantic was a long, narrow arm of the Tethys Sea. Asymmetric microbial reduction of ketones: absolute configuration of trans-4-ethyl-1-(1S-hydroxyethyl)cyclohexanol

A set of five fungal species, Botrytis cinerea, Trichoderma viride and Eutypa lata, and the endophytic fungi Colletotrichum crassipes and Xylaria sp., was used in screening for microbial biocatalysts to detect monooxygenase and alcohol dehydrogenase activities (for the stereoselective reduction of carbonyl compounds). 4-Ethylcyclohexanone and acetophenone were biotransformed by the fungal set. The main reaction pathways involved reduction and hydroxylations at several positions including tertiary carbons. B. cinerea was very effective in the bioreduction of both substrates leading to the chiral alcohol (S)-1-phenylethanol in up to 90% enantiomeric excess, and the cis-trans ratio for 4-ethylcyclohexanol was 0:100. trans-4-Ethyl-1-(1S-hydroxyethyl)cyclohexanol, obtained from biotransformation by means of an acyloin-type reaction, is reported here for the first time. The absolute configurations of the compounds trans-4-ethyl-1-(1S-hydroxyethyl)cyclohexanol and 4-(1S- and 4-(1R-hydroxyethyl)cyclohexanone were determined by NMR analysis of the corresponding Mosher's esters. Resolution and Absolute Configuration Assignment of a Natural Racemic Chromane from Peperomia obtusifolia (Piperaceae)

The resolution of the natural racemic chromane 3,4-dihydro-5-hydroxy-2,7-dimethyl-8-(3 ''-methyl-2 ''-butenyl)-2-(4'-methyl-1',3'-pentadienyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-6-carboxylic acid (1) isolated from the leaves of Peperomia obtusifolia has been accomplished using stereoselective HPLC. The absolute coil figuration of the resolved enantiomers was determined by the analysis of optical rotations and CD spectra. The finding of a racemic mixture instead of an enantiomerically pure metabolite raises questions about the final steps in the biosynthesis of this class of natural products, suggesting that the intramolecular chromane ring formation step may not be enzymatically controlled at all in P. obtusifolia. O imposto territorial rural e os municípios: o impacto nas receitas municipais e a renúncia fiscal

O artigo reúne uma análise do impacto da arrecadação do Imposto Territorial Rural no período de 1995 a 1997 nos municípios paulistas de Bragança Paulista, Franca e Porto Ferreira frente à composição das receitas municipais. A análise é realizada com base nas legislações do imposto vigentes no período e realiza comparações de arrecadação e projeções tendo como referência os valores da terra nua arbitrados pela Secretaria da Receita Federal (SRF) e pesquisados pelo Instituto de Economia Agrícola da Secretaria de Estado dos Negócios da Agricultura e Abastecimento de São Paulo. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam percentuais de evasão fiscal que atingiram de 18% a 52% e inadimplência de até 31% e esse perfil de evasão se acentua quando a partir de 1996 a SRF deixa de estabelecer o valor da terra nua mínimo (VTNm) e passa a tomar como referência apenas os valores declarados pelo contribuinte.
