Cuidado ao paciente idoso hospitalizado: implicações para a equipe de enfermagem

The Brazilian population is ageing rapidly, and chronic diseases have increased. Due to deficient health care services, the diagnosis and treatment of such diseases occur in the tertiary level, which increases costs and reduces the possibilities of early diagnoses. In view of the elderly population‟s increase and of the great demand at hospitalization units, it is important to learn about the difficulties and facilities faced by nursing teams when giving care to hospitalized individuals. In order to reach the objectives, a cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive, analytical and qualitative study was performed with basis on Bardin‟s Content Analysis. Among the difficulties were patients‟ limitations, dependence level, behaviors and habits, interference from companions, feeling of abandonment, perception of needs, dealing with suffering and lack of time for adequate care. As to facilities, acceptance of the disease, adherence to treatment, collaboration, trust in the team, and older patients‟ politeness were reported, which shows that passiveness is an important indicator in caring for the elderly. Older individuals suffer the outcomes of certain physical, psychological and mental deficits. When facing disease conditions, they require special care, including hospitalization and greater attention. The nursing team provides daily care and follows patients‟ development; however, its members are still not knowledgeable enough about the ageing process. This contributes to increase prejudice and erroneous stereotypes about older persons. Therefore, not understanding such process compromises the full care to be provided to older patients. This leads team members to accelerate the care provision process in order to meet the daily work demand, thus compromising older patients‟ autonomy and making them more dependent on the team, whereas the process should follow the opposite path

Estudo da estabilidade dinâmica e controle da aeronave AF-X da equipe AeroFEG

The present work aims to study the stability and control of the aircraft AF-X of AeroFEG team for AeroDesign to contribute with it in developing its theoretical project report for the competition and present the shortcomings of stability that it might measures for the practical test. In the first moment, it was presented forces and motion of the aircraft, so to define the equations of motion. After the equations of motion were calculated, the transfer functions were found and the aircraft response was analyzed under longitudinal stability and lateral-directional. We obtained responses from the aircraft and through the method of Root Locus the gains required to improve responses and reduce the overshoot, finally some changes and improvements for increased stability have been addressed. Checklist de cirurgias da OMS: análise da segurança e comunicação da equipe cirúrgica de um hospital escola

WHO has launched the “Safe Surgery Saves Lives” program with the purpose to reduce damage to surgical patients and define safety standards specifically in order to reduce such patients’ morbi-mortality by providing surgery teams and hospital managers with orientation about the standards of safe surgery and a uniform service evaluation instrument for national and international surveillance. Hence, this study aimed at applying the WHO safe-surgery checklist to the surgical specialties of a university hospital and evaluating the team’s opinion about the influence of its application on the safety of surgical process and on the team’s interpersonal communication. It was a descriptive, analytical, qualitative field study conducted in the surgery facilities of a university hospital in a public establishment in São Paulo state. The checklist was applied to eight surgical specialties, resulting in a total number of 30 surgeries. Its application was conducted by the researcher in three phases: Sign in, Time out, Sign Out. Next, one member of the surgery team was invited to voluntarily participate in the study by signing an informed consent form and answering guiding questions. Thirty members of the surgery team participated in the study. Bardin’s Content Analysis Method was used to organize and analyze the data. As regards the safety provided by the checklist, the following thematic categories emerged: “It reduces risk and possible complications”; “It standardizes conducts and reviews safety steps”; “It allows for better understanding of the process”; and “It provides safety to the team as a whole”. The category “It is not included in the institution’s routine” emerged from the subjects’ statements when they understood that, in this form, the checklist does not provide safety to surgical procedures. Interações entre universidade e sociedade em Axixá do Tocantins: uma proposta de ação educativa como passo inicial para enfrentamento de problemas socioambientais

Contextualiza e descreve o trabalho desenvolvido pela equipe da UNESP de Araraquara no município de Axixá do Tocantins durante o Projeto Rondon. Apresenta proposta multidisciplinar desenvolvida e voltada para os anos finais do Ensino Fundamental e Ensino Médio, entendendo-se que a rede municipal de ensino constitui-se num espaço estratégico para desencadear processos formativos que possam atingir, direta ou indiretamente, o público escolar e população em contato com esta. Focando a Serra do Estrondo, patrimônio natural local, a proposta objetiva a articulação de conhecimentos teóricos e práticos a partir de conteúdos relacionados à temática ambiental para enfrentamento de problemas socioambientais.

Concepções da equipe escolar sobre a gestão escolar e a escola inclusiva

Inclusive education is a proposal in which all people are accepted and recognized by their individual characteristics. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the concept of inclusive education and its relation within the democratic management on the early childhood education. Participated in these study educators of two schools in a municipal system school, the data were collected by means of interviews and were analyzed using qualitative approach. Educators participated in the study of two schools in a municipal school, and the data collected by means of interviews and organizes collective actions designed. The survey results suggest that is necessary that the management team is informed and understands the importance of articulating different social segments that can assist special needs of students with disabilities in their needs, promoting thus its development.

Tratamento multidisciplinar: relato de casos clínicos

Introduction: Adult patients are more prone to periodontal disease mainly caused by poor plaque control. In these patients, orthodontic movement is not contraindicated, but it is necessary to evaluate their periodontal status so that we can establish the appropriate treatment plan. Objective: The objective of this article is to describe and discuss the clinical cases of severely periodontally compromised individuals in need of oral rehabilitation. Methods: The study consisted of orthodontic treatment of two cases with periodontal involvement. After clinical and radiographic examinations, the cases were analyzed by a multidisciplinary team of Orthodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics, in order to provide the patient with the best possible esthetic, functional and stability outcomes. Periodontal treatment consisted of supra and subgingival scaling prior to orthodontic treatment, and regular maintenance performed on a quarterly basis throughout orthodontic movement. Activation was carried out every 45 to 50 days, with light forces. Retention remains to the present day, even after completion of the rehabilitation. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary oral rehabilitation treatment yields satisfactory results. The interaction between Orthodontics and Periodontics reveals that patients with reduced, but healthy periodontium, can receive orthodontic treatment as long as the forces applied do not exceed patient's biological limits.

Transformação cosmética de caninos em incisivos laterais: uma abordagem sistemática

A agenesia de dentes do grupamento anterossuperior é de fácil percepção pelo leigo por afetar a estética do sorriso, sendo esse o motivo principal da busca por tratamento nesses casos. Atualmente, as diferentes opções de tratamento ampliam as possibilidades clínicas mas também trazem dúvidas e discussões sobre qual abordagem seria a ideal. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar, por meio da execução de um caso clínico, os parâmetros de importância no planejamento da transformação de caninos em incisivos laterais pelo uso da técnica restauradora direta com resinas compostas. Com o avanço das propriedades mecânicas, das cores e técnicas de estratificação dos materiais compósitos atuais, resultados altamente estéticos e mais duráveis podem ser conquistados. Em casos de agenesia de incisivos laterais e reposicionamento de caninos, a reanatomização com resinas compostas em incisivos laterais é um procedimento viável e com previsibilidade de resultados quando um método multidisciplinar e racional de trabalho é utilizado pela equipe odontológica.

Modern Dentistry offers many alternatives for changing a patient's smile. Using work protocols is essential to obtaining previsibility in the resolution of clinical cases. The aim ofthis paper is to present two clinical protocols for two distinguishable situations, creation and reproduction.

Relação entre a presença da equipe de saúde bucal na estratégia saúde da família com o nível de conhecimento dos agentes comunitários de saúde

Objective: to identify the relation between the level of knowledge of community health workers on oral health and the presence of the Oral Health Team in the Family Health Strategy. Methods: we performed a survey with 173 community health workers allocated in public health services of five municipalities in the northwest of São Paulo, Brazil, through a self-administered and structured instrument. The survey instrument contemplated questions related to the presence of the Oral Health Team in the Family Health Strategy and questions regarding oral health. Results: the majority of community health workers was inserted in strategies with the presence of Oral Health Teams (60.1%). We found that the oral health knowledge of most participants was good (48%). Conclusion: there is relation between the level of knowledge of community health workers and the presence of the Oral Health Team in the Family Health Strategy.
