Testing for high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) as triage and test of cure was introduced into the Northern Ireland Cervical Screening Programme on Monday 28 January 2013. This policy change will significantly alter the screening pathway for women with a mild dyskaryosis or borderline smear result. The link between HR-HPV infection and the development of cervical cancer has now been clearly established, with almost 100% of cervical cancers containing HPV DNA. Women with no evidence of HR-HPV infection are extremely unlikely to develop cervical cancer in the short to medium term. HPV triage is the process whereby HR-HPV testing is used to manage women with low grade cervical abnormalities. Only 15-20% of women with a borderline or mild smear result have a significant abnormality that needs treatment. HR-HPV testing is effective in identifying which women may need treatment and allows colposcopy resources to be allocated more effectively. The test of cure process is being introduced because it is now known that women with a normal or low grade smear test, and who are HR-HPV negative at six months after treatment, are at very low risk of residual disease. These women do not need to be recalled for another screening appointment for three years. The test of cure process means all post-treatment smears (at six months) that are reported as normal, borderline or mild dyskaryosis will be tested for HR-HPV. Those women who are HR-HPV positive will remain at colposcopy. HR-HPV negative women can be safely returned to recall in three years. It is estimated that the HR-HPV test of cure will allow approximately 80% of women who have been through treatment to avoid undergoing annual smear tests. These FAQs answer the most common and important queries in relation to HPV and the new screening process, and were distributed to all GPs in Northern Ireland. Résumé Introduction : La chirurgie de la maladie de Hirschsprung est fréquemment compliquée d'une atteinte post-opératoire de la motilité intestinale. Des anomalies du système nerveux entérique (SNE) telles que la dysplasie neuronale intestinale de type B, l'hypoganglionose ou l'aganglionose, présents dans le segment abaissé, peuvent être la cause de certaines de ces complications mais aucune information n'est disponible quant au rôle des cellules interstitielles de Cajal (CIC) sur la motilité intestinale dans la phase post-opératoire. Ces cellules sont considérées avoir un rôle de pacemaker dans le tractus gastro-intestinal. L'objectif de cette étude était de décrire la distribution des CIC dans le segment proximal du côlon réséqué lors de cures chirurgicales de maladie de Hirschsprung et de confronter ces observations à l'évolution clinique post-opératoire. Matériel et Méthodes : L'incidence des complications post-opératoires a été déterminée par une revue rétrospective des dossiers de 48 patients opérés pour maladie de Hirschspung entre 1977 et 1999 et par l'étude histologique et immuno-histochimique des pièces réséquées chez ces patients. Nous avons comparé la distribution des CIC dans le segment proximal du côlon avec celle du côlon sain de 16 enfants contrôles par microscopie optique. L'immunohistochimie au c-Kit a été utilisée pour marquer spécifiquement les CIC sur échantillons paraffinés. Ces résultats ont ensuite été corrélés avec l'étude du SNE de ces mêmes segments, déterminée par immunohistochimie au CD56 et au protein gene product 9.5. Résultats Les complications post-opératoires suivantes furent identifiées : constipation 46%, constipation avec incontinence 15%, entérocolite 8%, décès 4% (probablement sur entérocolite). La distribution des CIC dans les segments proximaux réséqués chez les enfants avec maladie de Hirschsprung était identique à celle observée dans les segments de côlon sain, et ce indépendamment de la distribution normale ou anormale du SNE. Chez les enfants opérés pour maladie de Hirschsprung les segments réséqués présentaient les anomalies d'innervation suivantes : aganglionose 10.4%, hypoganglionose 12.5%, dysplasie neuronale intestinale de type B 6.3%, autres dysganglionoses 14.6%. Aucune relation entre ces anomalies d'innervation et les complications post-opératoires n'a été mise en évidence. Conclusion : La distribution des CIC est normale chez les patient opérés pour maladie de Hirschsprung, et ne contribue donc pas aux atteintes post-opératoires de la motilité intestinale. Cela signifie aussi que le réseau de CIC se développe noinialement dans le côlon humain, même en présence d'une innervation colique anormale ou absente. Abstract: Surgery for Hirschsprung's disease is often complicated by post-operative bowel motility disorders. The impact of intestinal neural histology on the surgical outcome has been previously studied, but no information is available concerning the influence of the distribution of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) on these complications. These cells are considered to be pacemakers in the gastrointestinal tract. The aim of this study was to assess the distribution of ICC in the proximal segment of resected bowel in Hirschsprung's disease and confront these results with the clinical outcome. Using immunohistochemistry for light microscopy, we compared the pattern of distribution of ICC in the proximal segment of resected bowel in Hirschsprung's disease with that in normal colon. We correlated these results with the corresponding neural intestinal histology determined by CD56 and the protein gene product 9.5 immunohistochemistry. The distribution of ICC in the proximal segment of resected bowel is identical to that of normal colon, regardless of normal or abnormal colon innervation. ICC distribution does not seem to contribute to post-operative bowel motility disorders in patients operated for Hirschsprung's disease.

In the near future, access to data and home automation systems in the home supported by the implementation of GNU-Linux operating systems in our homes, a reality of the first order for the implementation of real homes and automated digital awarding a cost reduction by the intensive use of the resources provided directly by the Open Software Community. The future possibilities seem almost endless: telecommuting, centralized household accounts, software distributed online training for young people in the house, multimedia at all levels, design and artistic creation (particularly through electronic digital displays are spreading rapidly in our homes), targeted towards home automation automated digital, integrated control of home security, digital entertainment ... and with free applications at no additional cost that can be easily downloaded from the usual repositories, ensuring the online update of these tools. In short, new ways of understanding in the home automation, telecommuting and digital entertainment within the broader framework of our Information Society.

The movement of Open Educational Resources (OER) is one of the most important trends that are helping education through the Internet worldwide. "Tecnológico de Monterrey" (http://tecvirtual.itesm.mx/) in Mexico, with other Mexican higher education institutions, is creating an Internet/web based repository of OERs and Mobile Resources for the instruction and development of educational researchers at undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral level. There is a lack of open educational resources and material available at the Internet that can help and assist the development and education of educational researchers in Spanish speaking countries. This OER repository is part of a project that is experimenting new technology for the delivery of OERs from one repository (http://catedra.ruv.itesm.mx/) through an indexed OER catalog (http://www.temoa.info/) to mobile devices (Ipod, Iphone, MP3, MP4). This paper presentation will describe and comment about this project: outcomes, best practices, difficulties and technological constraints.

The future of OER is highly dependent on the future of education in general. A future that will be determined by major changes in society that demand more people with a higher education and life long learning. Each vision for the long term future needs to take the qualitative and quantitative demands into account. Backcasting from a vision we arrive at useful steps to take, some of which we managed to start up in the form of pilots as part of the European research project Share.TEC.

This paper presents practical experiences using Open educational Resources (OER) for basic and elementary education (K12), educational research and research training on two inter-institutional projects with the collaboration of thirteen higher education institutions and with the support of the Corporación de Universidades para el Desarrollo del Internet (CUDI) and by the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) of Mexico and hosted by the Tecnológico de Monterrey. The first initiative is titled "Knowledge Hub for K-12 Education" with the main goal of enrich a catalog of Open Educational Resources for basic and elementary education (K-12) for Mexico and Spanish speaking countries in Latin-America. The main goal of the second initiative is to build a collection of Open Educational Resources for Mobile Learning to address the issue of educational research and research training.

We identify a number of meanings of "Open", as part of the motivating rationale for a social media space tuned for learning, called SocialLearn. We discuss why online social learning seems to be emerging so strongly at this point, explore features of social learning, and identify some of the dimensions that we believe characterize the social learning design space, before describing the emerging design concept and implementation.

This paper discusses issues of quality, localization, adaptation and integration that need to be addressed in order to make OER adoption a successful strategy.

This paper will discuss the possible roles of academic libraries in promoting, supporting, and sustaining institutional Open Educational Resource initiatives. It will note areas in which libraries or librarians have skills and knowledge that intersect with some of the needs of academic staff and students as they use and release OERs. It will also present the results of a brief survey of the views of some OER initiatives on the current and potential role of academic libraries.
