This study evaluated environmental impacts at Meio Creek watershed, Leme, Sao Paulo, Brazil. A simplified environmental analysis index was applied correlating land use and occupation (vegetation elimination or modification, wildlife, color, smell, grease, oils, foams, larvae and red worms) with water quality parameters (conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH and temperature). The simplified environmental analysis index showed that 27.8% visited places had a high or worrying environmental impact and 5.6% had a really high impact. As to the results of physical and chemical parameters, pH and conductivity values showed the conditions and standards that water Class 2 and 3 should have. These parameters were not the same for dissolved oxygen levels at most of the analyzed points. Despite the current environmental legislation at federal, state and municipal levels, Leme city does not have an effective environmental plan to control and protect springs and Meio Creek watershed and its tributaries.

Objective: to evaluate the standardization of vaccination rooms in the Municipality of Marlia, State of So Paulo, Brazil. Methods: descriptive and exploratory study, realized in 2008-2009; the instrument used was the Supervision in Vaccination Rooms, of the Ministry of Health; variables analyzed were general aspects of the vaccination room, technical procedures, cold chain, information system, post-vaccination adverse events, special immunobiologicals, epidemiological surveillance and health education; the score achieved classifies the room (90.0-100.0% = ideal; 76.0-89.0% = good; 50.0-75.0% = fair; <50.0% = insufficient); overall index for each point was calculated as the average score of all rooms. Results: technical procedures, information system, post-vaccination adverse events and special immunobiologicals were scored as ideal; cold chain, epidemiological surveillance and health education were scored as good; and to general aspects of the vaccination room, the evaluation was fair. Conclusion: general index for vaccination rooms in the municipality was considered ideal.

The annual vaccination campaign against rabies is the most effective prevention procedure for this disease in dogs and cats and hence for human protection also. However, in 2010 and 2011, this activity was interrupted in Brazil due to the occurrence of adverse events associated with vaccination. Even though cases of canine rabies have been decreasing in the last two decades, vigilance must be strengthened in order to maintain pet owners trust in the vaccines provided in public services. This study aimed to determine pet owners participation in the annual vaccination campaign carried out in Botucatu. During March and April 2012, the period before the 42nd campaign, 312 pet owners, dogs and cats, were interviewed. The homes were randomly drawn in blocks from different sectors of the city; all houses on the same block over the 120 km of urban area participated in the sampling process. Statistical analysis was performed descriptively. The results showed that the owners main motivation to vaccinate their pets during the campaigns is rabies prevention (36%), followed by the proximity of the vaccination station to the house (20.7%), zero cost (10.9%), and the combination of all three factors (16.1%). When asked if they would take their animals back to be vaccinated in another campaign, 60.1% answered yes, 13.5% would go to a private clinic, 2.2% would not take because they do not trust the vaccine and 1.6% had not decided yet. We conclude that the respondents have realized how dangerous Rabies is, because even after the break period, they still utilized the vaccination campaign demonstrating confidence in its effectiveness, while knowing the campaign goals facilitates understanding and participation.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the energy and economic efficiency indexes per unit of cotton agro-ecosystem area in family production systems of Paraguay and Brazil; and, to establish a relationship between the energy and economic. Typologies presented by the Program to Support Small Cotton Holdings (Paraguay), and by the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Brazil). Family systems of the two countries were identified; these are located from Paraguay (San JuanCA) and from Brazil (LemeSP). To construct the energy expenditure structure of the cotton agro-ecosystem, as well as to assess the economic efficiency, the mean values obtained were considered, when they presented similarities in production systems and they were within the typology proposed in this study. From the technical itinerary observed the Paraguayan agro-ecosystem depended (fossil fuel 56.76%) and industrial source (35.99%). Thus, the energy balance of the agricultural stage was established, which attained a value of 17,740.69 MJ ha-1; an energy efficiency of 5.28, and a cultural efficiency of 3.04. The Brazilian agro-ecosystem depended on energy from industrial source (insecticides 39.82%) and from fossil fuel (33.59%); it reached an energy balance of 19,547.88 MJ ha-1; an energy efficiency of 2.12, and a cultural efficiency index of 0.71. In the economic and energy indicator ratio, with regard to the months referring to the harvest time, that is to say, March, April, and May, the maximum economic efficiency indicator of paraguay was attained in the month of May (1,00), and from Brazil in the month of May (1,71). Both production systems analyzed were presented efficient, however, dependent of external circumstances and non-renewable energy sources.

Este artigo apresenta os resultados de um estudo de caso de inovao educacional na atuao da Organizao No Governamental Fundao Casa Grande - Memorial do Homem Kariri junto a crianas e jovens do municpio de Nova Olinda, CE, Brasil. O principal problema da pesquisa que este artigo visa apresentar : que fatores se conjugam na gerao de aes de inovao educacional? A hiptese examinada pela pesquisa foi a de que fatores salientes que se conjugam na gerao de aes de inovao so o tempo de experincia profissional de educadores(as), a estabilidade de sua equipe, o nvel de qualificao e a atuao mobilizadora de lderes da Organizao. So descritos os objetivos e caractersticas da atuao da Organizao e so apontadas as caractersticas de lderes, agentes e equipes. Conclui que a hiptese levantada foi confirmada.

Este artigo apresenta alguns dados sobre a histria do campo de conhecimento e prtica da Psicologia em sua relao com a educao no Brasil. Este estudo foi conduzido baseado no fundamento epistmico-filosfico do materialismo histrico dialtico e na nova histria, utilizando fontes bibliogrficas histricas e cinco relatos orais de personagens da Psicologia educacional e escolar. Os depoimentos e o material das fontes escritas constituram o corpus documental, cuja organizao seguiu a metodologia da histria oral e da historiografia plural. Foi realizada anlise descritivo-analtica compreendida em duas etapas: a) anlise documental (fontes no orais) e b) construo de indicadores e ncleos de significao dos registros orais. A partir das anlises, comps-se uma periodizao da histria da Psicologia educacional e escolar brasileira por meio de marcos histricos que compreendeu as fases: 1) colonizao, saberes psicolgicos e educao (1500-1906), 2) a Psicologia em outros campos de conhecimento (1906-1930), 3) desenvolvimentismo - a Escola Nova e os psicologistas na educao (1930-1962), 4) A Psicologia educacional e a Psicologia do escolar (1962-1981), 5) o perodo da crtica (1981-1990), 6) a Psicologia educacional e escolar e a reconstruo (1990-2000) e 7) A virada do sculo: novos rumos? (2000-).

Analisam-se, neste artigo, trs geraes de avaliação da educao em larga escala, a partir dos objetivos e desenhos usuais em iniciativas implementadas no Brasil. A primeira gerao consiste na avaliação diagnstica da qualidade da educao, sem atribuio de consequncias diretas para as escolas e para o currculo escolar. As outras duas geraes articulam os resultados das avaliaes a polticas de responsabilizao, com atribuio de consequncias simblicas ou materiais para os agentes escolares. Tomando como parmetro de anlise os objetivos e desenhos dessas avaliaes, bem como estudos e pesquisas que produziram evidncias sobre o tema, exploram-se possveis implicaes para o currculo escolar. Por um lado, discutem-se os riscos de as provas padronizadas, com avaliaes que referenciam polticas de responsabilizao envolvendo consequncias fracas e fortes, exacerbarem a preocupao de diretores e professores com a preparao para os testes e para as atividades por estes abordadas, levando a um estreitamento do currculo escolar. Por outro lado, aponta-se o potencial das avaliaes de segunda e terceira geraes em propiciarem uma discusso informada sobre o currculo escolar, em termos das habilidades fundamentais de leitura e matemtica que ainda no tm sido garantidas a todos os alunos.
