Fatigue crack growth rate in mode I of a carbon fiber 5HS weave composite laminate processed via RTM

Delamination or crack propagation between plies is a critical issue for structural composites. In viewing this issue and the large application of woven fabrics in structural applications, especially the ones that requires high drapeability to be preformed in a RTM mold cavity such as the asymmetric ones, e.g HS series, this research aimed in dynamically testing the carbon fiber 5HS/RTM6 epoxy composites under opening mode using DCB set up in order to investigate the crack growth rate behavior in an irregular surface produced by the fabric waviness. The evaluation of the energy involved in each crack increment was based on the Irwin-Kies equation using compliance beam theory. The tests were conducted at constant stress ratio of R=0.1 with displacement control, frequency of 10 Hz, in accordance to ASTM E647-00 for measurement of crack growth rate. The results showed large scatter when compared to unidirectional carbon fiber composites due to damage accumulation at the fill tows.

In the 90s, the Brazilian Secretariat of the Special Education Department has expanded the democratization of education and pupils’ access to schooling, by redefi ning the operation of special education services. With this inclusion policy, the education system has been restructured. An important action, conducted during the period de 2005 to 2010, was to propose, deploy and implement Multifunctional Resources Rooms (Sala de recursos multifuncionais, or SRM), from two different types (type I and II). The challenge was to promote educational inclusion, in a program entitled Inclusive Education: the right to diversity. In a seek for new identity of teacher training and professional practice in special education, the great educational innovation is to better articulate the work of “ordinary“ and specialized teachers, via the SRM, and to develop collective and participatory actions between common spaces and support spaces. In this context, the school and the family represent an important source of partnership.

Due to the process of educational inclusion, it is necessary for the teacher who works with disabled students to acknowledge and master the resources of assistive technology equipment available in Brazil. The objective was to identify the presence of these resources at school and evaluate, having the teacher as the evaluator, the conditions of dealing with the Assistive Technology resources and equipment. The sample consisted of 14 teachers who work in the Resources Multifunction Classroom and 18 regular classroom teachers who have disabled students enrolled in their classrooms. Data collection was performed through the TAE Questionnaire - Assistive Technology for Education. The data collection was performance in groups during the training course sponsored by the Education Department of Rondonópolis as part of the Program of Continuing Education Training for Managers and Educators - Inclusive Education: The Right to Diversity. The questionnaire data indicated differences between the two groups mentioned. The teachers of the Resource Classes indicated that Assistive Technology resources are now being introducing at schools and that over 50% of this group understand the resources presented on the questionnaire. Most of the regular classroom teachers is still unaware of the Assistive Technology resources and equipment. Regarding the dealing of these resources the group of teachers from the multifunctional classroom is better prepared to use this technology. The data suggest the need for investment in acquisition and training of teachers in relation to Assistive Technology resources.
Retextualização da escrita por alunos com surdez usuários da LIBRAS: em foco a mediação do professor

The way teachers will coordinate the writing appropriation process assumes an especial importance, sharing their knowledge with the deaf student, assigning importance and meaning for what this student was capable to produce, even if his production isn’t resembled to the idealized pattern of an adult writing. This study is proposed to investigate the mediation in rewriting activities, along with deaf students, held by eight trainee students of a Pedagogy course, with ages between 20 and 28 years old. Thereunto, this activities were recorded on video, for later transcription and descriptive analysis, subsided by a new model proposed in the literature. The results indicate: the importance of the rewriting in the understanding of write contents produce by deaf students, the participants’ attitudinal change about their role like coordinator and interlocutor in such activities and the greater teacher’s comprehension about notational and discursive aspects involved in the deaf student write production. These results allowed to conclude the future teachers’ need that will work in inclusive classes or in multifunctional classes, understand and use rewriting activities in their daily pedagogical practice for the appropriation for the promotion of the Portuguese write by the deaf student, user of LIBRAS. It should be noted these teachers’ need to know the LIBRAS’ grammar and have access to linguistic knowledge enabling them to comprehend the nature of the occurrences present in the texts produced by deaf students.

The specialized teachers' training to work in multifunctional resource classrooms still has to reach a satisfactory level. These teachers are expected to keep a set of resources and devices used to teach a wide range of students with different disabilities. That fact leads to reflection by the academic community. Thus what specific content should such training address? This paper aims to analyze the set of resources and equipment in a classroom and infer the teaching knowledge underlying their use. The analysis was conducted by classifying 63 resources and equipment items, which led to three categories: 1) set of materials that do not require academic knowledge; 2) set of materials that require academic knowledge related to any training course for teachers; 3) set of materials that require specific academic knowledge on working with students with disabilities. It concluded that around 36% of the resources do not require academic knowledge to be used; 35% of these resources and equipment require some academic knowledge to be properly handled, and around 29% of these resources and equipment require specific academic knowledge of their content. For instance, a specific training of those resources is necessary for acting with students with severe communication disorders, multiple disabilities and visual impairment or deafness.

This research aims to investigate the possible causes for the dropout of participants under instruction in distance courses. Data gathered from the Specialization Course in Specialized Educational Support Services - SES, sponsored by the Department for Continuing Education, Literacy and Diversity of the Ministry of Education - SECAD / MEC - and the Open University of Brazil – OUB, will be analyzed. The objective of the course is to graduate teachers who work in classrooms equipped with multifunctional resources in regular schools to give specialized educational support for students with special educational needs marked by disabilities, global development disorders and high abilities/highly gifted students. In order to analyze dropout data in the first semester of the ongoing course, a sample of 1349 participants enrolled in the distance course was considered; 216 of these had their enrollment cancelled on request or because they stopped accessing the Virtual Learning Environment - VLE / Teleduc Platform showing no interest in the course. However, the information below aims to present and discuss only the tabulated data of the 98 participants who requested to have their enrollment officially cancelled by submitting the online dropout term. The findings showed the main reasons for dropping out were personal problems, lack of time to commit to an ongoing distance course, difficulty using ICT and the tools available in the VLE. The research also highlighted the importance of developing digital inclusion initiatives as well as on-site supporting poles as a way to soften the barriers of technological accessibility and the dropout rate in this kind of courses.

Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) are multifunctional secreted cytokines, which belong to the TGF-beta superfamily. These glycoproteins act as a disulfide-linked homo- or heterodimers, being potent regulators of bone and cartilage formation and repair, cell proliferation during embryonic development and bone homeostasis in the adult. BMPs are promising molecules for tissue engineering and bone therapy. The present review discusses this family of proteins, their structure and biological function, their therapeutic applications and drawbacks, their effects on mesenchymal stem cells differentiation, and the cell signaling pathways involved in this process. The Medical Physics has been developing very fast due to the progress of the technologies and to the increase of the concerns with cure of diseases. One of the Medical Physics main performances at the present time is the use of ionizing radiations for cancer treatment, especially, services as Radiotherapy. The radiotherapy technique uses ionizing radiation with therapeutic end of cancer controls, avoiding your proliferation and it worsens of the patient. For the treatment a radiation bunch is used, with rectangular form, that it passes through the different types of tissues of the patient's body, and depending on the attenuation and of the depth of the fabrics, a great amount of energy is deposited inside in different points of the body. Like this, to plan this treatment type it should be obtained the dimension of the distribution and dose absorption along the volume. For this, it is necessary in the planning of the treatment of the cancer for radiotherapy to build isodose curves, which are lines that represent points of same amount of dose to be deposited in the area to be treated. To aid the construction of the curves of form isodose to reach the best result in the planning of the treatment, in other words, a great planning, providing the maximum of dose in the tumor and saving the healthy and critical organs, it has been using mathematical tools and computational. A plan of cancer treatment for radiotherapy is considered great when all the parameters that involve the treatment, be them physical or biological, they were investigated and adapted individually for the patient. For that, is considered the type and the location of the tumor, worrying about the elimination of the cancer without damaging the healthy tissue of the treated area, mainly the risk organs, which are in general very sensitive to the radiations. The cancer anorexia-cachexia syndrome is the most common paraneoplastic syndrome in Veterinary Medicine. It is characterized by severe loss of muscle mass and adipose tissue resulting in severe unintentional weight loss, anemia, fatigue, negative nitrogen balance, immune dysfuntion and other metabolic disturbances. The SAC is not only a result of inadequate intake of nutrients. The tumor requires large amounts of nutrients to allow growth and causes changes in pacient metabolism to get this energy. Recent studies suggest that the metabolic changes by cancer can be measured by hormones and cytokines produced or by the patient or the tumor, but this not completely understood. Animals with SAC have lower survival time, the greater chance of complications during treatment and lower quality of life. With the increase in the number of cancer cases in domestic animals and longer lifespan after diagnosis of malignant disease through the use of antineoplastics drugs, diagnosis and treatment of cancer anorexia-cachexia syndrome has shown great importance in that patients may have higher survival then better quality of life. The cosmetic industry has presenting growth in Brazil and one way to support this demand is improving production and reducing waste. Wastes can be related to setup time, which is spent to support demand of product´s mix and volume. One of the methodologies used to reduce setup time is SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die). This paper aims to describe and analyze the setup process in a production line in a cosmetic industrial branch, before and after the application of SMED methodology, highlighting good practices and difficulties in order to help other companies develop fast setup. The research method used was the case study. From the analysis of the implementation of the methodology on the company which is object from the case study was possible to summarize good practices, such as: the use of pillar E&T to store information about the training on the SMED methodology; creation of a multifunctional teamwork and involving different areas; creation of a “From-To” matrix. Difficulties were identified, such as: high and constant turnover of people who work on the shop floor; lack of discipline in filling the forms and by doing the setup activities that were standardized; lack of financial resources; lack of people´s availability in orer to conduct necessary meetings and trainings. Recommendations for other companies have also been proposed, such as: training of the team involved, before starting the project and a refresher training; standardization of training, forms and documentation of all steps of the project; create a multifunctional team; training after an employee, who is responsible for the setup, leaves the company

Six species of the genus Callithrix can be found across the Atlantic Forest extension, being the Callithrix geoffroyi, Geoffroy`s marmoset, the least studied species. The objective of this study is to investigate the behavioral aspects of the species in captivity, and how the environmental enrichment techniques influence those behaviors. To this end, we have studied three specimens of C. geoffroyi, in captivity at Municipal Zoo of Piracicaba, São Paulo. The enclosure includes a 37m2 with under masonry, concrete platforms with external deep, trunks, a floor of grass and soil, e grid in their other three sides. The sampling method was focal per time interval, with records every 30 seconds in sessions of 30 minutes, totaling 30 hours for each animal, which were distributed in a baseline phase, an environmental enrichment phase and post-enrichment phase (n = 3660 records in each phase). The twelve enrichment techniques were applied: the physical environment (branches for perches and hoses fabrics for bedding and vanishing points), cognitive (radio, mirror, puzzle food) and food (insects, flowers and eggs hidden, wrapped). Initially, to determine the period of greatest activity of marmosets, we investigated the pattern of activity for three days (9:00 am to 17:00 pm) consecutively at intervals of 15 minutes, recording the number of active and inactive individuals. The 495 records signaled greater activity in the morning, then selected period for the completion of this work. The ethogram comprised 16 behaviors. The inactivity was the predominant phase behavior baseline and post-enrichment with a significant decrease (h=8,62, p <0.01) in the enrichment phase, and a significant increase in the post enrichment (h=18,15, p <0.001).
