During the last decades of the XX century occurred several demographic, cultural and social changes that directly affected the inclusion of women in the labor market. However many of them have found and still find barriers to work in various fields of endeavor and in the case of this study, the sports management. The purpose of this study was to assess through a systematic review, the participation of women in sports management, listing the main characteristics, challenges and difficulties. The research consisted of a systematic review of studies that discuss the thematic related to the participation of women in sport management in Brazil, including the Google Scholar database. The key words used and that generated proceeds were woman, sports management and women in sports administration. In the discussion and results has been possible to list the insert forms in a management position, the main ones being: by invitation, conduction or family relationship. The arguments about the limited participation of women in sports management and their encountered barriers are justified because there is a male domain and prejudice, resulting often the career waiver for these women. The profile of the sporting managers has found a predominance of men aged between 30-49 years old. For unavailability of articles, the present study was restricted to use only one database. In short, there is a lacuna in studies on women's participation in the administration or sporting management, with a prevalence of literature review articles. To expand overview on this issue would be important to carry out quantitative studies. It was concluded that the difficulty of women entering in sports management still seems to be a current problem and can only be minimized from a greater attention from the scientific community. Understanding dance in all its educational aspects, creative and liberating, this of course work completion back motivating information for new studies and reflections. This study did a literature review to contextualize and detail reach the story and how it perpetuates in practice the dance style Waacking, sought the understanding of how the body is inserted in our society, made notes on the Sport Psychology regarding the topic fear and shame, and pledged to address the conflicting issues of gender and sexuality, to then be possible to develop what has been objectified. This study sought to establish whether there are national publications on the Waacking dance style and what their contributions to the Brazilian context, verifying the presence of stereotypes and prejudices to males in it are inserted. As used method, the survey was conducted in online databases having the following sites as a source of scientific academic content to nationwide: Google Scholar (like the filter to search only in Portuguese language - as the focus of the research is to gather national publications); Journals Portal CAPES / MEC; and SciELO - (Scientific Electronic Library Online). Objective: Review of scientific literature on the history of tuberculosis (TB), the natural history of TB in humans, extrapulmonary TB in urogenital form, including epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. Method: Literature review using PubMed databases, BIREME, SciELO, LILACS and Google Scholar, as well as books, manuals and official documents of Ministério da Saúde (MS) and World Health Organization (WHO). Results: Focused as discussion topics, history, diagnosis and treatment of urogenital tuberculosis and reflection on the diagnostic challenge to be faced by health professionals. Conclusion: The diagnosis of urogenital tuberculosis is difficult and often delayed and may lead to important consequences. Faced with a patient with chronic urinary symptoms or infertility tuberculosis should always be investigated.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma revisão bibliográfica dos estudos nacionais acerca do ensino curricular para cegos. Foi realizada uma busca sistemática em três bases de dados: Google Acadêmico, Scielo e Lilacs, de estudos publicados no período de 2004 a 2014, que tivessem em seu título um dos seguintes descritores: alunos cegos; alunos deficientes visuais; crianças cegas; crianças deficientes visuais. Foram localizados 188 estudos e 56 selecionados dentro dos critérios estabelecidos. Fez-se a leitura integral desses e definiram-se cinco categorias de análise: tipo de estudo; participantes; tipo de abordagem; tipo de discussão e matrizes curriculares. Para cada categoria, foram estabelecidas subcategorias. Ao total 26 subcategorias foram descritas. Os resultados indicam que o Google Acadêmico é a base de dados com maior número de títulos encontrados (188/156); a Scielo apresenta melhor eficiência na relação encontrado x selecionado (12/10). Nas subcategorias de análise, as maiores frequências são identificadas nos estudos empíricos (22); junto a crianças (19); de análises qualitativas (21); na matriz curricular de Educação Física (sete) e na subcategoria relacionamento social (16). Contudo, os estudos são convergentes em apontar que as principais dificuldades no ensino às pessoas cegas se referem a deficiências na formação de professores, onde, normalmente, não são discutidos métodos de ensino e produção de material para trabalhar com essa população específica. Em conclusão, além de realizar um mapeamento dos estudos que têm sido conduzidos junto a alunos cegos nos últimos dez anos, este artigo aponta para lacunas na literatura e direciona futuras investigações na área.

The Mary Elizabeth Massey Papers consist of Dr. Massey’s professional and organizational files and includes biographical data, correspondence, lecture and teaching materials, rough notes and unpublished drafts of Dr. Massey’s journal articles and books, speeches, research notes and photo and typescript copies of historical manuscripts from other repositories. Most of the material pertains to Dr. Massey’s publishing efforts, her work as a Winthrop faculty member and scholar and her involvement with professional organizations, especially the Southern Historical Association and the Civil War Centennial Commission. While there is material extending from Dr. Massey’s student days at Hendrix College (a 1937 graduate), most of the substantive material extends from 1953-1973.

Many discussions have enlarged the literature in Bibliometrics since the Hirsch proposal, the so called h-index. Ranking papers according to their citations, this index quantifies a researcher only by its greatest possible number of papers that are cited at least h times. A closed formula for h-index distribution that can be applied for distinct databases is not yet known. In fact, to obtain such distribution, the knowledge of citation distribution of the authors and its specificities are required. Instead of dealing with researchers randomly chosen, here we address different groups based on distinct databases. The first group is composed of physicists and biologists, with data extracted from Institute of Scientific Information (IS!). The second group is composed of computer scientists, in which data were extracted from Google-Scholar system. In this paper, we obtain a general formula for the h-index probability density function (pdf) for groups of authors by using generalized exponentials in the context of escort probability. Our analysis includes the use of several statistical methods to estimate the necessary parameters. Also an exhaustive comparison among the possible candidate distributions are used to describe the way the citations are distributed among authors. The h-index pdf should be used to classify groups of researchers from a quantitative point of view, which is meaningfully interesting to eliminate obscure qualitative methods. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. Fundamental principles of mechanics were primarily conceived for constant mass systems. Since the pioneering works of Meshcherskii (see historical review in Mikhailov (Mech. Solids 10(5):32-40, 1975), efforts have been made in order to elaborate an adequate mathematical formalism for variable mass systems. This is a current research field in theoretical mechanics. In this paper, attention is focused on the derivation of the so-called 'generalized canonical equations of Hamilton' for a variable mass particle. The applied technique consists in the consideration of the mass variation process as a dissipative phenomenon. Kozlov's (Stek. Inst. Math 223:178-184, 1998) method, originally devoted to the derivation of the generalized canonical equations of Hamilton for dissipative systems, is accordingly extended to the scenario of variable mass systems. This is done by conveniently writing the flux of kinetic energy from or into the variable mass particle as a 'Rayleigh-like dissipation function'. Cayley (Proc. R Soc. Lond. 8:506-511, 1857) was the first scholar to propose such an analogy. A deeper discussion on this particular subject will be left for a future paper.

Abstract: Background: We aimed to estimate the median ages at specific stages of sexual maturity stratified by excess weight in boys and girls. Materials and method. This was a cross-sectional study made in 2007 in Florianopolis, Brazil, with 2,339 schoolchildren between 8 to 14 years of age (1,107 boys) selected at random in two steps (by region and type of school). The schoolchildren were divided into: i) those with excess weight and ii) those without excess weight, according to the WHO 2007 cut-off points for gender and age. Sexual maturity was self-evaluated by the subjects according to the Tanner sexual development stages, and utilizing median ages for the genitalia, breasts, and pubic hair stages. Results: In the boys with excess weight, precocity was observed in the stages 4 for genitals and pubic hair and 2 for pubic hair, with the values for excess and normal weight. The median ages at the beginning of puberty (stage 2–sexual development) for boys and girls in Florianopolis were 10.8 and 10.3 years, respectively. Conclusion: Excess weight is associated with lower median ages in the sexual maturity stages in boys and girls and that it should be taken into account when evaluating sexual maturity in children and adolescents.
