Report of Savings by Using Video Conferencing Through Iowa Communications Network to the Iowa General Assembly, Fiscal Year 2009

Introduction and summary Iowa Code § 8D.10 requires certain state agencies prepare an annual report to the General Assembly certifying the identified savings associated with that state agency’s use of the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). This report covers estimated cost savings related to video conferencing via ICN for the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT). In FY 2009, the DOT did not conduct any sessions utilizing ICN’s video conferencing system. Therefore, no cost savings were calculated for this report. Médecine interne générale ambulatoire: quelques enseignements de la littérature en 2005 [Primary care in general internal medicine: relevant information in 2005]

During the year 2005, the chief residents of the University Medical Outpatient Clinic of Lausanne have done a database of useful articles for daily practice, scientifically validated and with excellent didactic quality, from 10 electronic journals. They have used those selected articles in personal meetings between the chief residents on a regular basis and the possibility to access the database by the junior physicians. Six of these articles concerning different topics (depression, tuberculosis detection, anticoagulation at home, cholinesterase inhibitors, insomnia and therapies, transdermal nitroglycerin and tendinopathies) are presented.

Identification of novel functional TBP-binding sites and general factor repertoires.

Our current knowledge of the general factor requirement in transcription by the three mammalian RNA polymerases is based on a small number of model promoters. Here, we present a comprehensive chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP)-on-chip analysis for 28 transcription factors on a large set of known and novel TATA-binding protein (TBP)-binding sites experimentally identified via ChIP cloning. A large fraction of identified TBP-binding sites is located in introns or lacks a gene/mRNA annotation and is found to direct transcription. Integrated analysis of the ChIP-on-chip data and functional studies revealed that TAF12 hitherto regarded as RNA polymerase II (RNAP II)-specific was found to be also involved in RNAP I transcription. Distinct profiles for general transcription factors and TAF-containing complexes were uncovered for RNAP II promoters located in CpG and non-CpG islands suggesting distinct transcription initiation pathways. Our study broadens the spectrum of general transcription factor function and uncovers a plethora of novel, functional TBP-binding sites in the human genome.

Es presenta el concepte d'accessibilitat al web com a sistema per a facilitar el treball a la xarxa per part de les persones discapacitades i millorar la usabilitat dels continguts. A partir de la Iniciativa per a l'Accessibilitat al Web (WAI) del World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C), aquest ha elaborat unes directrius que actualment estan en procés d'adopció pels diferents governs i empreses. Finalment es presenten diverses eines informàtiques i entitats de contacte que donen suport a aquestes actuacions.
