Tumor odontogênico queratocístico: considerações clínico-cirúrgico

Introduction: The tumor odontogenic keratocyst (toq) is a benign disorder, which is controversial in its diagnosis and treatment. It is characterized by a true neoplasms arising from remnants the dental lamina. It occurs predominantly in the angle mandible, which may or may not be related to a tooth and whose importance is due to its aggressive behavior and high recurrence rate. The thin capsule and friable tissue may favor the toq retention of epithelial debris and, moreover, the presence of satellite cells in the lesion site is responsible for the increased proliferative capacity of clinical entity. Objective: To present the peculiarities toq inherent in using a clinical case of toq in mandible. Case report: TOQ in the jaw in patient, 16 years old male presenting important lesion radiographically radiolucent related to the impacted tooth. Final comments: In consideration of the high rate of recurrence chosen treatment proved effective and was not any evidence of recurrence.

Tumor odontogênico queratocístico: revisão de literatura

The odontogenic keratocyst is called keratocyst odontogenic tumor (TOQ), due to its features compatible with neoplasms, such as its high recurrence rate and mechanism of growth. Although its etiology has unknown, the origin seems to be connected with dental lamina remaining. This entity is generally benign, with slow progression, asymptomatic, and among the odontogenic tumors, its prevalence is high. It affects mainly males, with predilection for the posterior mandible, while in most cases associated with an impacted tooth. Radiographically, this lesion is unilocular. Histological features are stratified epithelial basal cells with hyperchromatic paraqueratinizado. Treatment ranges from conservative to radical interventions. As a result of the controversy as TOQ tumor entity, the present work is a literature review of current findings, emphasizing its intrinsic features to contribute to developments in the study of this new entity.

Técnicas de confecção de prótese total imediata mucossuportada

The immediate complete denture is a prostheses made prior to teeth extraction, that aims to re-establish the patient aesthetics and function immediately after the removal of the remaining teeth. The objective of this paper is to report the technical procedures during the manufacture of immediate prosthesis. The study reports the clinical steps prior to teeth extraction as well as the surgical and maintenance procedures. The immediate complete denture is a viable rehabilitation method, especially to restore patients’ self-esteem, aesthetics and function promptly. Registro do perfil de emergência para mimetização dos dentes naturais na região estética

Introdução: o tratamento com implantes dentários para a reposição de dentes na região estética exige a utilização de materiais e técnicas que permitam o máximo de naturalidade entre a restauração, os dentes vizinhos e o tecido gengival. Dessa forma, torna-se necessário criar o correto perfil de emergência para o dente, assim como a utilização de materiais com alto potencial estético. Objetivo: o objetivo do presente trabalho foi ilustrar, através de um caso clínico, a utilização de uma técnica de moldagem para a correta cópia do perfil de emergência do dente e sua transferência para o modelo de trabalho, tornando possível a confecção de uma restauração totalmente cerâmica, perfeitamente integrada ao tecido gengival. Caso clínico: paciente de 30 anos, procurou o clínica de prótese dentária com desejo de melhorar a estética dos dentes. Após diagnóstico e planejamento, foram confeccionadas 2 coroas totalmente cerâmicas sobre os dentes 12 e 21, e confecção de 1 coroa cerâmica sobre um pilar de zircônia após o estabelecimento e registro do perfil de emergência do dente 11. Conclusão: após a conclusão do tratamento, observou-se naturalidade, estética e perfeita integração entre as restaurações, os dentes remanescentes e o tecido gengival.

Planejamento em reabilitação oral: restabelecimento da relação intermaxilar por meio de prótese provisória overlay

The present article describes the treatment planning and fabrication of overlay denture to restore the jaw relationship in a partial edentulous patient with bruxism. A male patient, 51 years old, was referred to the oral rehabilitation clinic complaining about the chewing and aesthetic. The occlusal surface of the superior teeth presented severe wear. The fabrication of an interim overlay denture to restore the jaw relationship was planned. The overlay had metallic projections and covered the occlusal surface of superior teeth. After overlay insertion both function and aesthetic of the patient were recovered. It was concluded that the use of overlay improved the physiological normal position of the jaw and could provide a favorable prognosis for a definitive oral rehabilitation with implant-supported fixed denture.

Utilização de imagem de satélite Landsat no mapeamento da ocupação da terra e seus conflitos de uso em APPs na bacia hidrográfica do ribeirão Paraíso - São Manuel (SP)

The objectives of this study were to evaluate land use and occupation of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) as well as its use conflicts by TM (Thematic Mapper) image of the 2010 Landsat-5 satellite, according to the Forest Code. For that purpose, Geographic Information Systems in the Ribeirão Paraíso watershed, São Manuel, SP were used. The combination of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System technologies allowed representation of spatial distribution of the landscape and data integration in the diagnosis of geographic interest. The 2010 mapping showed 12 use categories, and the sugar cane crop had the largest land occupation, 48.25% of the area. The areas of permanent preservation amounted to 925.74 ha, which is an ideal value based on the Brazilian legislation. Mapping of land use conflicts showed intensive anthropic actions going 80.13% forward on PPAs, with only 19.87% remaining forests, which highlights their negative impact and illegal situations in these areas.
