La remédiation cognitive est devenue en quelques années un outil thérapeutique important dans le domaine des maladies psychiatriques, et plus particulièrement dans celui des troubles schizophréniques. Parmi les programmes utilisés, RECOS est l'un des seuls à proposer un entraînement qui tient compte du profil cognitif individuel, permettant ainsi de répondre de manière ciblée à la grande hétérogénéité des déficits observés. Cet ouvrage constitue le support de base indispensable à la formation délivrée aux futurs thérapeutes RECOS. Il se divise en deux parties. La première partie présente les données scientifiques actuelles sur les troubles cognitifs de la schizophrénie et les moyens d'y remédier. Le lien entre les performances cognitives et les capacités fonctionnelles permet de comprendre comment et pourquoi la remédiation cognitive favorise la réinsertion sociale et professionnelle. Most Iowa counties maintain low volume roads with at least one bridge or culvert that is structurally deficient or obsolete. In some counties the percentage of deficient drainage structures may be as high as 62%. Replacement with structures of similar size would require large capital expenditures that many counties cannot afford. Low water stream crossings (LWSCs) may be an acceptable lowcost alternative in some cases.

Construction of portland cement concrete pavements is a complex process. A small fraction of the concrete pavements constructed in the United States over the last few decades have either failed prematurely or exhibited moderate to severe distress. In an effort to prevent future premature failures, 17 state transportation agencies pooled their resources, and a pooled fund research project, Material and Construction Optimization for Prevention of Premature Pavement Distress in PCC Pavements, was undertaken in 2003. Its purpose was to evaluate existing quality control tests, and then select and advance the state-of-the-practice of those tests most useful for optimizing concrete pavements during mix design, mix verification, and construction. This testing guide is one product of that project. The guide provides three recommended testing schemes (Levels A, B, and C, depending on a pavement’s design life and traffic volumes, etc.) that balance the costs of testing with the risk of failure for various project types. The recommended tests are all part of a comprehensive suite of tests described in detail in this guide.

A multiplicity of factors contributes to selective RNA polymerase III occupancy of a subset of RNA polymerase III genes in mouse liver.

The genomic loci occupied by RNA polymerase (RNAP) III have been characterized in human culture cells by genome-wide chromatin immunoprecipitations, followed by deep sequencing (ChIP-seq). These studies have shown that only ∼40% of the annotated 622 human tRNA genes and pseudogenes are occupied by RNAP-III, and that these genes are often in open chromatin regions rich in active RNAP-II transcription units. We have used ChIP-seq to characterize RNAP-III-occupied loci in a differentiated tissue, the mouse liver. Our studies define the mouse liver RNAP-III-occupied loci including a conserved mammalian interspersed repeat (MIR) as a potential regulator of an RNAP-III subunit-encoding gene. They reveal that synteny relationships can be established between a number of human and mouse RNAP-III genes, and that the expression levels of these genes are significantly linked. They establish that variations within the A and B promoter boxes, as well as the strength of the terminator sequence, can strongly affect RNAP-III occupancy of tRNA genes. They reveal correlations with various genomic features that explain the observed variation of 81% of tRNA scores. In mouse liver, loci represented in the NCBI37/mm9 genome assembly that are clearly occupied by RNAP-III comprise 50 Rn5s (5S RNA) genes, 14 known non-tRNA RNAP-III genes, nine Rn4.5s (4.5S RNA) genes, and 29 SINEs. Moreover, out of the 433 annotated tRNA genes, half are occupied by RNAP-III. Transfer RNA gene expression levels reflect both an underlying genomic organization conserved in dividing human culture cells and resting mouse liver cells, and the particular promoter and terminator strengths of individual genes.
