The development of the domestic mammals’ stomach is a complex process, especially in ruminants. The objective of this research was to perform the analysis of structures of this organ during prenatal period. Samples of Nelore fetuses rumen (Bos Taurus indicus) were divided into five groups: 1 - fetuses with 9 to 15 weeks (8 to 21cm) of gestation, 2 - fetuses with 16 to 22 weeks (23 to 37cm), 3 - fetuses at 23 to 29 weeks (40 to 58cm) 4 - fetuses with 30 to 36 weeks (61 to 77cm) and 5 - fetuses with 37 to 43 weeks (79 to 88cm). Sections were stained with Hematoxylin and eosin and Mallory's trichrome and examined at light microscope. In group 1, in fetuses with 11 cm, could be seen all the layers, mucosa with high epithelium and light cells, lamina propria fused with submucosa, the muscular layer was with two thin sublayers similar in thickness and serosa was thin too. With 13.5 cm, was observed the first irregularities in the mucosa with epithelium projections and lamina propria that will lead rumen papillae. With 16.5 cm there was differentiation of the lamina propria to the submucosa. In group 2, in fetuses with 28 cm were observed complete papillae. From this stage, the remaining groups, there was an increase in thickness of the epithelium, lamina propria, submucosal and muscular layer whit the inner sublayer more thicker than the external and serosa. It was concluded that the main variations occur in fetuses of groups 1 and 2, and after this phase, there is increased in thickness of all layers until the end of the pregnancy period.

Introduction: Pathological changes in the bucal cavity associated with Diabetes mellitus (DM) may include gingivitis, periodontal disease, salivary gland dysfunction and xerostomia (dry mouth), susceptibility to bucal infections, burning mouth syndrome, and altered taste. Objective: This study assessed the technical and scientific knowledge of dentists working in primary care in the National Health System (SUS) on the DM. Material and method: The study was conducted in the municipalities of Birigui-SP, Maringá-PR and TrêsLagoas-MS, with the participation of 76 dentists working in the SUS primary care system. These professionals agreed to answer to a questionnaire developed for this study and the results of the questions were submitted to a quantitative analysis. Result: Showed that 94.7% were in contact with diabetic patients; 97.4% know what is DM; about other types of DM, 77.6% said they know, the most mentioned (by 55.9%) was the gestational DM. The DM2 was indicated as the most prevalent by 59.2%; the normal range of fasting blood glucose level was quoted correctly by 2.6% of the participants; obesity was reported by 98.7% of participants as a risk factor for DM; 96.0% stated correctly what are the main signs and symptoms related to Diabetes; periodontal disease was reported by 92.1% as an bucal manifestation in diabetic patients. Conclusion: The dentist needs to develop specific knowledge about DM, being able to identify normal levels of blood glucose and ready to identify and meet the bearer of DM.

In the present study, participated sixteen mothers. We discuss about risk factors for the development of the baby, especially main measurements maternal and sociodemographic. Mothers were interviewed and inventories to assess anxiety and stress. The babies were assessed from 'Inventário Operacionalizado Portage. The results pointed positive correlations between anxiety and self-care, and negative associations between maternal stress and cognitive development of infants. There were significant correlations between maternal age and cognitive, and motor development in the second month (p=0.005; 013). Gestational age was significant for the motor area in the second month of a baby's life (p=0.026), however this correlate was negative. The variable birth weight showed significant difference in cognition and negative in the second month (p=0.29); and maternal education was significant positive for the language area in the first month (p=0.000). These results emphasized the importance of guidance and monitoring of mothers during the postpartum.

Objetive: The goal of this review is to discuss the evidence regarding the impact of pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity on perinatal outcomes. Data Collection Method: We conducted a search for articles in the Medline, PubMed and Scielo databases covering the past 5 years, and reviewed the bibliographical references contained in the articles selected. Articles were selected by subjective evaluation in terms of methodology, sample size and year of publication. Summary of evidence: We found strong evidence linking excess weight before pregnancy with the development of birth defects, fetal and neonatal deaths and macrosomia,. Conclusions: Excess weight in the pre-pregnancy is an important risk factor for the health of the fetus, whose importance increases because it is a modifiable risk factor.

Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) happens when the fetus does not reach the expected size or determined by its genetic potential. It is clinically identified when the fetal weight is below the 10th percentile for the gestational age. This definition is frequently used in the literature. Fetal growth restriction is a common clinical problem that is associated with the increase in perinatal morbidity and mortality, and is reported in 7 to 15% of pregnancies. The objective of this review is to describe the factors involved in the etiology of intrauterine growth restriction, by using the bibliographic review of the literature on the databases of Medline, Pubmed, Scielo, and also books, with emphasis on the past 10 years The analysis of the consulted materials shows that there are many factors associated with this condition, including maternal, placental and fetal factors. It´s important to highlight that these different factors can act concomitantly, some of them are predictable, and many of them are intimately related with the socioeconomic and cultural status of the population. Thus, the causes and incidence of IUGR vary according to the study population.
