The gas turbine (GT) is known to have: low cost of capital over the amount of energy, high flexibility, high reliability, short delivery time, commissioning and commercial operation at the beginning and quick departure. The gas turbine is also recognized for its superior environmental performance, manifested in air pollution containment and reducing greenhouse gases (Mahi, 1994). Gas turbines in simple cycle mode (SC) have long been used by utilities to limited power generation peak. In addition, manufacturing facilities use gas turbines for power generation units on site, often in combination with the process of heat production, such as hot water and steam process. In recent years, the performance of industrial gas turbines has been improved due to significant investments in research and development, in terms of fuel to electricity conversion efficiency, plant capacity, availability and reliability. The greater availability of energy resources such as natural gas (NG), the significant reduction of capital costs and the introduction of advanced cycles, have also been a success factor for the increased use of gas turbines to load applications base (Poulikas, 2004). Open Cycle Gas Turbine with a greater degree of heat to the atmosphere may alternatively be used to produce additional electricity using a steam cycle, or to compose a cogeneration process. The combined cycle (CC) uses the heat from the gas turbine exhaust gas to increase the power output and increase the overall efficiency of more than 50% second (Najjar, 2001). The initial discovery of these cycles in the commercial power generation market was possible due to the development of the gas turbine. Only from the 1970s that gas turbine inlet temperature and therefore the exhaust gas temperature was sufficiently high to allow a better efficiency in the combined cycle ... The education research guidelines have shown the important contribution of the investigations that focus on analysis of the discursive dimension of teaching and learning of Science in actual classroom. An interesting proposal to analyze the effectiveness of an educational activity is to assess the potential of investigative activities in the development of argumentation in science classes. Several studies have taken into account the use of argument in the classroom as a way to provide students with new ways to know the science. Argument refers to the process of associating components that play a central role in the construction of explanations, models and theories. In order to investigate the potential of these activities took place the application of investigative activities with third-year high school students, recorded in audio and video, focusing on the development of the argument. The search, conducted ranks as a qualitative research with characteristics of a case study. The arguments collected during the activities contained the students' conceptions about the concepts discussed and all were recorded in audio and video. With the encouragement of the argument by the investigative activity we evaluate the learning experienced by the speech of students. It may be noted that students have appropriated the concept of oxidation involving electron transfer, thus the activity reached the goal, so that was planned, making it effective for the introduction of electrochemical concepts

After years of stagnation, the naval construction industry in Brazil has been experiencing a period of recovery caused by investments in the oil and gas sector and the implementation of governmental programs that aimed to regenerate it. However, efforts in learning and innovations are needed in order to reinsert the country in this activity and achieve international levels of competitiveness. Based on literature about learning processes and continuous improvement practices and their impact in the innovative and productive processes, this paper aims to identify the main tendencies, mechanisms and procedures to improve the construction and management processes in the Brazilian naval construction industry. The methodology used for the data analysis classifies obtained information from magazines and annals of congresses of the sector, according to the established analysis categories (phenomena). Such categories study information related to the productive and technological processes of the industry, the main internal and external relations of the industrial park, the management of resources and processes, policies, investments, etc. The data was collected in the period 2004-2010, and more than 500 registers that show a dominance of the investment phenomenon, especially in the increase of productive capacity, were catalogued. In addition to this, there is evidence of modernization in the manufacturing plan and the equipment, diverse forms of cooperation, implementation of human resources management practices and engineering or processes and products. Hence, a process of catching up governs and is guided by modernization and increase training in this industry.

To evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) on the wettability of sound and caries affected dentin by a simplified adhesive system. Material and Methods: Flat coronal dentin surfaces were produced on 60 sound molars, 30 of which were artificially decayed. The teeth were divided randomly into 3 groups (n = 10) with smear layer (SL), without SL impregnated with water and without SL impregnated with chlorhexidine. The SL removal was performed by phosphoric acid etching for 15 s. 20 uL of distilled water or 2% chlorhexidine digluconate were applied on the demineralized dentin for 60 s. Then, a drop of Single Bond 2 was deposited on each surface. Contact angles between dentin surface and adhesive was measured by means of a goniometer and data were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey tests (α = 0.05). Results: Higher contact angles were obtained on sound versus caries affected dentin (p <0.05), regardeless of the surface treatment. For both substrates, contact angles statistically higher were obtained for dentin covered with SL (P <0.05). The SL removal resulted in significant reduction of the angles (P <0.05) and no difference was found among angles produced on demineralized dentin impregnated with water or chlorhexidine (p> 0.05). Conclusion: Caries affected dentin wettability was higher than sound dentin and that characteristic was not influenced by chlorhexidine application.

The Combination Syndrome represents an important pathologic condition of the masticatory system that requires a complex rehabilitation treatment. The presence of flaccid mucosa is one of the most common features due to bone resorption of the pre-maxilla caused by anterior hyperfunction of the mandibular teeth on the maxillary complete denture, where the impact of oclusal loading in this region results in movement of the maxillary prosthesis into the ridge, resulting in increased resorption of the residual ridge, internal misfit and loss of the retention of the maxillary complete denture. The presence of flaccid mucosa, in such cases, leads to problems of support and stability of the maxillary complete denture, which can be treated by surgical reduction of the thickness of the tissue or using specific techniques of fabrication of prostheses. This article describes the oral rehabilitation of a patient with the Combination Syndrome where the surgical reduction of flaccid mucosa was not performed, using a modified technique of functional impression in two steps, with the objective of generating forces and less distortion in flaccid mucosa during functional impression.

The Portland cement has shown similar biological properties to calcium hydroxide, but its radiopacity is lower. Therefore, the addition of materials that minimize this deficiency should be considered. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the apical sealing ability and pH of a white Portland cement added of several radiopacifying agents. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Forty bovine roots with incomplete apices were selected, and the foraminal openings were standardized to PM 720G bur. After the external root sealing, an apical intracanal barrier 10.0 mm thick was executed with the white Portland cement powder, pure or added of a radiopacifying agent (iodoform, zinc oxide or bismuth subnitrate), and distilled water (0.37 mL). The apical roots were immersed 24h in water in humid atmosphere, and after that they were immersed 24h in 2% Rhodamine B, under vacuum. In sequence, the roots were longitudinally sectioned, the root fragments were photographed, the images were digitalized and the apical infiltration was measured by the Image Tool program. The pH solutions were also evaluated, in 24h and 48h and 7 and 30 days. Data were submitted to Anova test. RESULTS: The zinc oxide solution has the lowest apical infiltration in relation to the other groups (p < 0.05). The pH behavior varied during the analysis, and in the period of 24h all groups showed the highest values (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The type of radiopacifying agent used interferes in the sealing ability of the apical barrier, and zinc oxide showed to be the most beneficial one. The pH varies according to the period of analysis, and the highest values were obtained in the first 24h (p < 0.05).

jObjective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the thermoplasticity of the gutta-percha cones used for root canal obturation: Dentsply convencional (Dentsply Ind. e Com., Petrópolis, RJ, Brazil), Dentsply 0.04, (Dentsply Ind. e Com., Petrópolis, RJ, Brazil), Antaeos 0.04 (VDW GmbH, Munich, Germany), ProTaper (Dentsply Ind. e Com., Petrópolis, RJ, Brazil) and Alfa 0.06 (VDW GmbH, Munich, Germany). Material and method: Specimens of each material (n = 10) were prepared after heating. After 24 hours were again heated to 70 °C and placed between two glass plates and subjected to a compression of 5 kg for 2 minutes. The scanned image of the groups before and after the compression was analyzed with the software Image Tool (UTHSCSA Image Tool for Windows version 3.0, San Antonio, TX, USA). The flow capacity of the different materials was determined by the difference between the initial and final area of each specimen. The results were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey test with significance level of 5%. Result: Among the material evaluated, the gutta-percha cones Alpha 0.06 and ProTaper presented more thermoplasticity than other groups (p < 0.05). The Dentsply gutta-percha presented thermoplasticity intermediate. The groups Dentsply 0.04 and 0.04 showed lower thermoplasticity after heating (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The gutta-percha present different property of thermoplasticity, which is important to selection of thermoplastic obturation techniques.

The article refers to the collective construction performed from the Multicentric Research on Humanization Training of SUS. It is about production and building consensus on different interpretations of the superfamily "expansion of the analysis capability." The methodological approach is related to the creation of analytical reports coming from four sources: Intervention Plans built at the time of training courses offered in three states (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo) by the institutional supporters in training. Also, there were questionnaires answered via Form-SUS by graduated supporters after four years of the course closing; data and analysis produced by supporters in focus groups and interviews, conducted as the research final stage in the three states. Thus, considering the inclusive methodological framework not only from the courses, but also the research that evaluated them, the participants (graduates from the training courses) produced data and started to play the active role of researchers/panelists because they got “surprised" by partial analyzes. Therefore, the article discusses the analysis capability of demand required by supporters before their working areas and the relationship of that capability with concepts and elements of Institutional Analysis. It was possible to highlight the inseparability between demands of emergency and the exercise of being next to another person and his/her interests. The conclusion is that the methodology proposed by the course allowed the supporters in training to stimulate and develop a critical capacity on their work. However, it is noticed that the expansion of such analytical capability often remained linked to the supporter, without the contagion of other workers in the territories. It was also possible to see that the course and political framework of PNH could equip the supporters, promoting empowerment from their analysis, which is essential to the interventions performance.
