Health Impact Review - Sources of information reports

To support each of the IPH series of Health Impact Reviews, a sources of information report is now avalable for each of the four reports. These provide links to organisations who have conducted a wealth of information related to health and either employment, transport, education or the built environment.

Meeting the Health, Social Care and Welfare Services Information Needs of Older People

As Chairperson of the National Council on Ageing and Older People, it gives me great pleasure to introduce this report, Meeting the Health, Social Care and Welfare Services Information Needs of Older People in Ireland. The Council has asserted, in previous reports in the past, the need to improve information provision for older people in order to enable them to make informed decisions in relation to their health, social care and welfare services needs and preferences so that they can become partners in their own care. This is consistent with current policy initiatives intended to re-orientate services more towards the older person and to place him/her at the heart of service planning, delivery and evaluation. Health education of diabetes as a chronic disease : transmission of information or active appropriation ?

Résumé du poster : Diabetes is both an important chronic disease and a real public health problem. It requires a great control over the body and a great mastery of the tools used in the daily struggle to reach a physiological balance. It is therefore a disease in which health education plays an important role, since patients are expected to reach a certain autonomy in the management of their disease. But how can the patients' autonomy be promoted? This is the question to which this study tried to answer from the perspective of socio-cultural psychology. The study was launched by the Cantonal Diabetes Program Vaud and aimed at evaluating a health education setting located in the east region of the Canton Vaud. It was based on both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches. The results showed that there is a correlation between the number of hospitalizations and the quality of support provided by this particular health education setting. Moreover, the acquisition of expertise appears to be a distributed and collective process based upon the actors' active participation in various types of activities and involving and extended network. Further research is now required in order to examine how health education might be grasped through the lens of social-cultural psychology.

Major maintenance; health, safety, loss of use; and Americans with Disablities Act deficiencies at the Capitol Complex and statewide for twelve agencies and divisions participating in the Vertical Infrastructure Program in collaboration with the Governor's Vertical Infrastructure Advisory Committee, including the Department of Administrative Services; the Department of Commerce, Alcoholic Beverages Division; the Department of Corrections; the Department of Cultural Affairs; the Department of Education, including Iowa Public Television and Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services; the Department of Human Services; Iowa Law Enforcement Academy; the Department of Public Safety; Terrace Hill; Iowa Veterans Home and Iowa Workforce Development. The advisory committee meets on a monthly basis to review the progress of the work and to make recommendations on procedures and priorities.
