Objective: Check the perception of dentists about safety climate at work in relation to adherence to standard precautions. Methods: It is a quantitative, cross-sectional study conducted through the application of the Safety Climate Scale to a population of 224 dentists who worked in units of primary health care in six municipalities of Parana. Results: The total score of 3.43 (SD = 0.88) reveals that dentists have a poor perception of the incentives and organizational support for adopting standard precautions. Conclusion: Unsatisfactory safety climate, where the perception of dentists about safety in their work environment is deficient, demonstrating fragile management actions of support to safety, lack of a training program in occupational health and deficient feedback to favor the adoption of safe practices.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the ingestive behavior of dairy cows fed corn and millet silage with a 5 mm particle size without inoculant, millet silage with a 5 mm particle size with inoculant, millet silage with a 20 mm particle size without inoculant, millet silage with a 20 mm particle size with inoculant. Five cows Holstein x Gir, with approximately 100 days of lactation at the beginning of the experiment and a mean body weight of 550 kg, producing an average of 15 kg of milk per day were used. The animals were arranged in a randomized 5 x 5 Latin square. The total feeding time, rumination time, chewing time, number of alimentary bolus, rumination time for bolus and number of chews was determined. The variables that make up the feeding behavior were not affected when the cows were fed different millet silages compared with corn silage. Cows fed corn silage and millet silage of 5 mm particle size had a higher intake of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber. A particle size between 5 and 20 mm, the presence or absence of inoculum and the type of silage with DM at 28%, does not affect the total feeding time, ruminating and resting of cows with an average production of 15.2 kg per day. The presence of the inoculant does not affect the intake of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber. Cows fed diets containing corn silage or pearl millet silage with a 5 mm particle size fed more DM.

The research aimed to estimate body contents of protein and energy and net requirements of energy for maintenance of buffaloes, slaughtered at different stages of maturity. There were used 14 Mediterranean intact males with initial average body weight of 352.2 +/- 24.3 kg and average age of 24 months. The animais were randomly divided into four experimental groups. One group was designed to slaughter at the beginning of the experimental period (IS). The animals of another group were restricting fed, receiving, individually, levels of protein and energy 15% above maintenance (RF). The animals of the two remaining groups were individually fed ad libitum (SW450 and SW500) to reach weights corresponding to 100 and 110 percent of the mature weight of the buffalo cows (respectively 450 and 550 kg). The ration contained ground-corn cobs, soybean meal, urea, minerals, and signal-grass (Brachiaria decumbens) hay, with a concentrate: roughage ratio of 50: 50 and 13% of crude protein on a dry matter basis. To estimate changes in body composition inside the range of weights included in the trial, linear regression equations of log protein (kg), fat (kg) and energy (Mcal) as a function of log empty-body-weight (EBW), in kg, were fitted. Energy requirements for maintenance were obtained as estimated heat production at zero level of energy intake. Buffaloes submitted to fattening in feedlot presented early body fat deposition, and had with the same live weight lower protein content and higher fat content and energy per unit weight than european-zebu crossbred cattle.
