Within the educational field we can identify an increasing number of possibilities and different ways to use unusual tools in the classroom. Teachers have used much more visual arts, pictures, photographs and films. This work aims to verify whether these tools are used properly, confirming if pedagogical activities with images and movies contribute positively to children's learning and ultimately how such learning takes place

This study aimed to evaluate a period of 38 years, the use and soil occupation of the Paradise River watershed, inserted in the citys of São Manuel and Areiópolis-SP using aerial photographs for the year 1972 and TM image (Thematic Mapper) obtained by the Landsat-5 satellite, in 2010, using geoprocessing techniques. The watershed in question is very important for the city of São Manuel-SP, because its urban area is inserted in its divisors which part of it belongs to the Environmental Protection Area (APA) Perimeter Botucatu-SP, considered a recharge area of the aquifer Guarani. Today, the development of agriculture faces challenges, which is to produce more food without impacting the environment. Allied to this concern, research institutions have sought new technologies that allow the detection and quantification of human actions, enabling interventions in order to minimize possible damage to the environment. Among these technologies can be cited Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which a large volume of data and information stored in a region at different times can be evaluated in the same time, suggesting different approaches to the planning of land use. The results of the mapping of areas of use and soil occupation result nine classes in 1972, and the coffee culture showed the biggest occupation (37.94%) of the total area. The 2010 mapping formulated twelve classes of use, which demonstrated the predominance of sugar cane (37.94%), on the areas occupied by coffee and pasture before. The land use maps of 1972 and 2010 showed results that show intense human activity in the modification of natural landscape.

The great importance of citrus in São Paulo state, particularly in Botucatu city, the and its major expansion in area in recent years and the advancement of techniques for environmental monitoring, such as remote sensing motivated the present research. The aim of this study was the determination the areas and perimeters of citrus in the Botucatu city, São Paulo state, Brazil, obtained through the softwares: Carta Linx, GIS-Idrisi and SPLAN, using aerial colored photographs of 2005, scaled at 1:30000 with longitudinal covering of approximately 60% and 30% laterally. The areas obtained from the aerial photographs and evaluated by Carta Linx presented values closer to the terrestrial reality in determining areas and perimeters, whereas GIS-Idrisi showed discrepancies in the determination of the perimeters, due to working with matrixes. SPLAN and Carta Linx had values for perimeters and areas in close proximity, due to work with vectors.

The increasing expansion of agricultural activities, without considering the potential and limitations of soils is a potential source of environmental degradation. Thus, the present study assessed the variation of use and occupation in 49 years, between 1962 and 2011 scenarios of watershed of São Caetano - Botucatu (SP). geoprocessing techniques were used in this study. In a Geographic Information System (GIS) - IDRISI – it was integrated information from IBGE digital cards, scale 1:50,000, plus aerial photographs (1962) and satellite images LANDSAT - 5 (2011). In the study area, we can view the progress of the urban area, which in 1962 was not present in the watershed. In 2011, the urban area occupied 21.37% of the total area. Even with this breakthrough occurring in the period of 49 years, there was an increase in the area of natural vegetation, which once occupied only 12.33% of the area (1962), and in 2011 represents 25% of the total area of the watershed, showing an increase in awareness on the importance of preserving nature. Thus, we can conclude that the analysis tools based on GIS enabled us to analyze variations in space and time and to propose alternatives to the correct use and occupation of land.

The objective of the study was to analyze the features of the relief through the variables: maximum altitude (HM); mean altitude (Hmd); minimum altitude (Hm); altitude range (H); average slope length (CVm); minimum length of run-off (Cd) and average steepness of circular samples (I) of the Capivara River Watershed – Botucatu (SP). A total of 4 circular samples were obtained per unit of soil (Quartzipsamment alfisol oxisol - RQ, Udox - LVA and Udorthent - RL). Multivariable analysis and aerial color photographs of 2000, Brazilian Chart and Soil Chart of Botucatu city-SP were used for data analyses. Soil differentiation was performed using the Student-t Test for analyzes of orthogonal contrasts among means of the three soils and analysis of groupings and major components. The grouping analysis of the variables of relief differentiated 75% of LVA and 100% of RL and RQ soil circular samples. The most efficient parameters of relief for differentiation of soils according to their order of importance were as follows: HM, Hm, Hmd and H.

This study examines the hippotherapy related to school inclusion. Inclusive education, given the diversity of human kind, seeks to understand and meet the educational needs of all students. Visual impairment is defined as a reduction or complete loss of ability to see with the better eye and after the best possible optical correction, and may be perceived by the focus when the individual educational needs of Braille for their learning. Hippotherapy is a therapeutic and educational method that uses the horse in an interdisciplinary approach in health, education and riding, searching for the biopsychosocial development of people with disabilities and/or special needs. The general objectives were: to follow a Hippotherapy program applied to a student with visual disabilities included in regular education from the practice sessions of hippotherapy and the student's school routine, and specific: to verify changes to a student with visual impairment during their participation in an equine therapy program, to check the commitment, involvement and interest in school activities the student practicing hippotherapy inserted into the regular school system. The methodology was a qualitative research, in the form of case study. The instruments of data collection were interviews, video recordings, photographs, school information and the subject of systematic observations of the sessions of hippotherapy. Interviews were conducted at three different times during the course of the program. First we used a strategy for succeeding in increasing the involvement of practicing with the school. Later, another strategy was established, consisting of the effective presence of the researcher in the school to carry out activities on the hippotherapy within the school environment. A qualidade de vida para o ser humano depende do resultado das relações entre os processos biológicos, ecológicos, culturais e socioeconômicos que acontecem no espaço. Assim, a preocupação com a influência de zonas urbanas sobre o meio ambiente e a população tem sido um tema de crescente importância no Brasil, associando o desenvolvimento de novas políticas de gestão e reestruturação de grandes cidades. Nessa discussão, incluiu-se a questão da transformação da paisagem em ambientes urbanos, com impacto na manutenção dos serviços ecossistêmicos e na qualidade de vida da população humana. Este estudo propôs a caracterização da evolução da cobertura e uso do solo para a cidade de Carapicuíba, na Grande São Paulo, através da elaboração de seis mapas temáticos de uso e ocupação do solo do município, entre o período de 1962 e 2013. Além disso o projeto também pretendia fazer a modelagem de cenários futuros de mudanças, através de uma abordagem baseada no uso integrado de sensoriamento remoto, sistema de informações geográficas e modelos espaciais dinâmicos. Os mapas temáticos foram elaborados através de três mosaicos de fotografias aéreas adquiridas em 1962, 1972 e 1994, uma imagem orbital do sensor Ikonos de 2002, um mosaico de ortofotos aéreas adquirido em 2008, e uma imagem do sistema orbital RapidEye adquirida em 2013, para avaliação da dinâmica de ocupação da superfície da terra. As datas de imageamento disponíveis conseguiram representar momentos diferentes na história do município, referentes a acontecimentos importantes e que influenciaram significativamente na alteração da paisagem urbana: o grande crescimento demográfico e a construção das vias de acesso a Carapicuíba. As análises de dados e discussões apontam que o tipo de via de acesso à Carapicuíba e o tipo de uso do solo urbano, influenciaram na estratificação socioeconômica e na conservação de cobertura vegetal...

Currently we live in an increasingly visual world, where images are used as non-verbal language for different interests. Considering the ease of getting a photograph and the many ways that it can find, understand that this language can be a means of reading the geographic space, appearing as text and not only as illustration for teaching geography. Thus, this work aims to try an approach between artistic photographic language and geographic scientific language, observing how different groups with different ages read the geographic space through photographs. Focusing on the school environment, we have in mind the need to work with the various pictorial means that are increasingly present in textbooks of geography teaching. Here then, as proposed, a trial in which students from elementary and secondary education will shoot what for them is the city. The analysis will be performed observing possible differences and / or common aspects in the photographs according to the age group of students groups, trying to discover how the geographic space is being read by students through images and how this trial can contribute to the basic education of discipline geography
