In this thesis the sludge of Southeastern-Finland, the companies which produce sludge and the current methods and those still in development have been surveyed. 85 % of the waste sludge from industry comes from forest industries. The sludge from municipal waste water treatment plants is mostly used as a raw material for bioplants. The sludge from forest industry is mostly incinerated. New circulation methods increase the recycling value of the waste by creating new products but they still lack a full-scale plant. The political pressure from Europe and the politics driven by the government of Finland will drive circular economy forward and thus uplifting the processing options of waste slurries. This work is divided in two parts, first contains the survey and the second contains the experimental part and the operational methods based on the survey. In the experimental part wet hard sheet waste sludge was de-watered with shaking filter and the applications for waste sludge from cellulose factory were considered. The results are, that the wet hard sheet waste sludge can be dewatered to high enough total solids content for the inteded use. Also, the cellulose waste sludge has too high Cd content in almost all of the batches to be used as a land improment.

Jotta molemmat tuotantoyksiköt saadaan mahtumaan Lahden yksikköön, on sinne saatava luotua tarvittavat tilat siellä olemassa oleville toiminnoille ja Hollolan yksiköstä saapuville tuotantolinjoille. Työn alussa perehdytään kirjallisuuden avulla siihen kuinka tuotanto on kehittynyt maailmalla lähihistorian aikana, jotta voidaan paremmin ymmärtää Oilon Oy:n nykytilanteeseen johtaneita syitä.

Sampo-Rosenlew käyttää konepajana paljon kemikaaleja johtuen kolmesta maalaamostaan. Työn tavoitteena oli parantaa Sampo-Rosenlewin ympäristö- ja turvallisuusasioiden nykyistä tilaa erilaisten työkalujen avulla, joita yritykselle luotiin. Työssä kehitettiin Sampo-Rosenlewille toimintajärjestelmä ISO 14001 ympäristöjärjestelmästandardia ja OHSAS 18001 TTT- järjestelmästandardia mukaillen. Luotu toimintajärjestelmä on tulevaisuudessa tavoitteena sertifioida. Valittua riskianalyysimenetelmä POA:aa tullaan pilottivaiheessa testaamaan aluksi yrityksen maalaamoissa. Toimintajärjestelmä ja riskienhallintamenetelmä pyrittiin luomaan mahdollisimman yksinkertaiseksi, selkeäksi ja helpoksi kehittää. Näiden menetelmien käyttöönoton onnistumiseen vaikuttavat nykyinen toimintakulttuuri ja ylimmän johdon sitoutuminen asiaan. Järjestelmän käyttöönoton myötä on tavoitteena Sampo-Rosenlewin dokumentoinnin tason parantaminen ja kilpailukyvyn tehostaminen.

Metal Music as Critical Dystopia: Humans, Technology and the Future in 1990s Science Fiction Metal seeks to demonstrate that the dystopian elements in metal music are not merely or necessarily a sonic celebration of disaster. Rather, metal music's fascination with dystopian imagery is often critical in intent, borrowing themes and imagery from other literary and cinematic traditions in an effort to express a form of social commentary. The artists and musical works examined in this thesis maintain strong ties with the science fiction genre, in particular, and tum to science fiction conventions in order to examine the long-term implications of humanity's complex relationship with advanced technology. Situating metal's engagements with science fiction in relation to a broader practice of blending science fiction and popular music and to the technophobic tradition in writing and film, this thesis analyzes the works of two science fiction metal bands, VOlvod and Fear Factory, and provides close readings of four futuristic albums from the mid to late 1990s that address humanity's relationship with advanced technology in musical and visual imagery as well as lyrics. These recorded texts, described here as cyber metal for their preoccupation with technology in subject matter and in sound, represent prime examples of the critical dystopia in metal music. While these albums identify contemporary problems as the root bf devastation yet to come, their musical narratives leave room for the possibility of hope , allowing for the chance that dystopia is not our inevitable future.

In 1893 Attorney Henry Drushel Perky and William H. Ford invented a machine for the preparation of cereals for food. Perky soon realized that the actual cereal biscuits were more popular than the machines and he opened Shredded Wheat plants in Massachusetts and Niagara Falls, New York. In 1904, the Niagara Falls, Canada plant was opened. These factories also served as tourist attractions. In 1907, one hundred thousand people visited the plants on both sides of the border. In 1928, the company was sold to The National Biscuit Company and the product name changed to Nabisco Shredded Wheat. The name of the plant was changed to Nabisco Foods in 1956 to reflect the variety of foods that were being produced at that time. In 1985, Nabisco was purchased by J.R. Reynolds thus forming RJR Nabisco. In 1994, RJR sold its breakfast cereal business to Kraft Foods and the international licenses to General Mills. Shredded Wheat is now integrated into the Post Foods portfolio. with information from: Niagara Falls Canada a History by The Kiwanis Club of Stamford, Ontario Inc. and Business Source Complete

According to legend, the Burning Springs were discovered by early natives in the Niagara Peninsula. Bridgewater Mills was built on the site of the spring. During the excavation of the factory; workmen uncovered the spring. Samuel Street and Thomas Clark recognized the potential of this as a tourist attraction so they built a wooden shelter over the spring. The spring was covered with a barrel with a pipe protruding from it. This became the first tourist attraction at Niagara. The Cave of the Winds was a cavern located behind the Bridal Veil Fall. It was originally named the Aeolus Cave. In 1920, a sudden rock fall from the ceiling killed 3 tourists. The cave was destroyed in 1955 as it was deemed dangerous. The captain of the Maid of the Mist was usually a farmer who owned the land where the ship docked. In 1846, the first steam powered Maid of the Mist was launched. By 1848, the first suspension bridge was built over the gorge and the main purpose of the Maid of the Mist was no longer to carry people who needed to travel, but now the focus was on people who wanted to view the Falls at close range.
