Brasiliana e Reconquista do Brasil: projetos editoriais de traduções

The purpose of this historiographical work is to make a comparison between editorial translation projects of narratives about Brazil written by foreign travelers published in two collections: Brasiliana, by Companhia Editora Nacional (1940s), and Reconquista do Brasil, by Itatiaia jointly with EDUSP (1970s). Both have similar goals, that is, to publish works describing Brazil and Brazilians, but, whereas, the former mostly offers texts written by domestic authors, the latter makes greater room for translations. The most apparent difference among the collections is that, while Brasiliana makes allowances for translators to reveal, in their prefaces and notes, their views on the author, the work, as well as their translation projects, Reconquista publishes few notes and prefaces by translators. The comparisons between the editions explore the difference between the focus given to the works by different institutional guidelines.

Hibridismo cultural: o imaginário europeu na construção da sexualidade feminina do primeiro século de colonização brasileira

The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the conceptions of sexuality and female sexual behavior and conduct, formed from the merger of information and securities purchased under the eyes, rules and guidelines established relations with the Holy Office during his visit to Inquisitorial Brazil in the late sixteenth century. It is a survey of historical methodology in which we used as the exploratory research and literature. In the sixteenth century the Church increases the pressure to change the sexual mores that were free in the Middle Ages, a fact which influences the rules and regulations that are adopted by the Holy Office regarding the person's sex life. The first structure was based on Brazilian sexual alliance between Indians and settlers, which led to sugar, by the Portuguese, the customs of the land, which included sexual practices free since the Indians were out of Christian influence. Supported by the absence of white women, the settlers took them wives of the earth, usually more than one, creating conflict with the Jesuits who condemned Indian polygamy. In this context, in 1591, landed on Brazilian soil Heitor Furtado de Mendonca, and with it, the First Visitation of the Holy Office to investigate, arguing, exploring feelings and behaviors, to discover the true facts, finally, to demonstrate the errors Faith and punish them with the rigor of ecclesiastical law. His passing opens us to visualize traces of sexuality in the current "Tropic" a racist, misogynist world where black women and degraded land could be subject to the wishes of the white man, with whom he could mate at will. Aquatic macrophytes as feeding site for small fishes in the Rosana Reservoir, Paranapanema River, southeastern Brazil

In the present investigation we studied the feeding habits of the fishes associated with aquatic macrophytes in the Rosana Reservoir, southeastern Brazil. Twenty fish species were collected during four field trips, regularly distributed across the dry and wet seasons. Focal snorkeling observations of the fishes were made over a total of six hours. Nine species were present in abundances of more than 1% and, therefore, had their feeding habits analyzed. Hemigrammus marginatus, Roeboides paranensis, Hyphessobrycon eques, Astyanax altiparanae, Serrasalmus spilopleura, and Bryconamericus stramineus were predominantly invertivores, with predominance of aquatic insects (Diptera, Ephemeroptera, and Trichoptera immatures) among their food items. The predominantly algivores were Apareiodon affinis, Serrapinnus notomelas, and Satanoperca pappaterra, with high frequency of filamentous blue-green algae, diatoms, clorophyts, and periderm. The different microhabitat exploitation plus diet composition suggests partitioning of resources and absence of food competition among the most representative fish species in the studied community, indicating the importance of the naturalistic approach to fish ecology studies.

Helmintoses zoonóticas transmitidas pelo consumo inadequado de peixes

Among the major food-borne parasitic zoonoses, the helminthiasis transmitted by consumption of fish have been highlighted because they involve a large number of individuals in many regions of the world in recent years. In the past, these parasitosis were restricted to underdeveloped nations or with peculiar eating habits; however the process of globalization of food production, the increased international travel and consumption of fish for their nutritional benefits caused the expansion into new areas, which had never before been recorded, making it a serious public health problem in some countries. This review discuss the main helminths transmitted by eating raw or undercooked fish, in order to alert the public, the scientific community and health authorities about their risks to human health, as well as stimulate the realization of new researches that contributes to a greater knowledge of the epidemiological situation in the country of these parasites and the development of strategies for prevention and control of them.

Projeto de Educação Ambiental e Lazer (PEDAL): dialogando a partir do cicloturismo na escola

The PEDAL had beginning with an interested group in accomplishing walks and bicycle trips looking for fruition of the disentailed leisure of the consumption. The objective of this report of experience is to present the cicloturismo as an alternative of fruition of the leisure that has been making possible debates and reflections that seek to the understanding of alunos/as of the basic education on the interface among the themes leisure, environmental education and quality of the life. In this report we considered intervention accomplished at a school of fundamental teaching in the city of Saint Carlos-SP. Starting from the results of the analysis of the registrations produced pelos/as alunos/as, we considered that the theme, of interest of the same ones, raised the construction of significant reflections, such as: the possibility of the use of the bicycle as means of transportation for the work or for the leisure; the need of public politics that promote and guarantee safety and respect to the cyclist.
