The 1982 Agrarian Census is used as the basis of a study of the role of farm wives in family farms in the province of Girona. In spite of the shortcomings of the Agrarian Census, outlined in the first part of the article, this census is the most reliable and detailed source available to identify and evaluate the specific role and share of work of the different members on a family farm. The study clearly demonstrates, on the one hand, the deep-rooted cultural pattern of professional discrimination of farm wives, and, on the other hand, t6eir important role in agriculture, especially in the most dynamic farm units in Girona

[eng] Catalonia was the only Mediterranean region among the early followers of the British Industrial Revolution in the second third of the nineteenth century. The roots of this industrialisation process can be traced back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries when the Catalan economy became successfully integrated in international trade and the region enjoyed an intensification of its agrarian and proto-industrial activities. These capitalist developments were subsequently reinforced by a successful printed calico manufacturing business concentrated in the city of Barcelona. Although the factory system was largely adopted by the cotton industry in the 1840s, the diffusion of the spinning jenny had occurred earlier in the 1790s. In this paper, in line with Allen (2009a, 2009b), we explore whether relative factor prices played a role in the widespread adoption of the spinning jenny in Catalonia.

The lipid raft proteins reggie-1 and -2 (flotillins) are implicated in membrane protein trafficking but exactly how has been elusive. We find that reggie-1 and -2 associate with the Rab11a, SNX4, and EHD1-decorated tubulovesicular recycling compartment in HeLa cells and that reggie-1 directly interacts with Rab11a and SNX4. Short hairpin RNA-mediated down-regulation of reggie-1 (and -2) in HeLa cells reduces association of Rab11a with tubular structures and impairs recycling of the transferrin-transferrin receptor (TfR) complex to the plasma membrane. Overexpression of constitutively active Rab11a rescues TfR recycling in reggie-deficient HeLa cells. Similarly, in a Ca(2+) switch assay in reggie-depleted A431 cells, internalized E-cadherin is not efficiently recycled to the plasma membrane upon Ca(2+) repletion. E-cadherin recycling is rescued, however, by overexpression of constitutively active Rab11a or SNX4 in reggie-deficient A431 cells. This suggests that the function of reggie-1 in sorting and recycling occurs in association with Rab11a and SNX4. Of interest, impaired recycling in reggie-deficient cells leads to de novo E-cadherin biosynthesis and cell contact reformation, showing that cells have ways to compensate the loss of reggies. Together our results identify reggie-1 as a regulator of the Rab11a/SNX4-controlled sorting and recycling pathway, which is, like reggies, evolutionarily conserved.

Landscape research in urban or peri-urban areas implies important methodological constraints. In this sense, the area of study, placed in the Vallès basin, near the city of Barcelona, has known an important process of urbanization in the last two decades. This fact restrains the retrieving of archaeological data and the development of archaeological surveys and field-walking. The particular topography of the area must also be taken into account. It is characterised by soft slopes resulting from a differentiated seasonal rainfall. Archaeomorphological analysis has been therefore reconsidered in order to adapt its methods and techniques to this particular environment. The destruction of large agrarian areas implies that landscape morphology research must focus on an intensive work through historical cartography and old aerial photography within a gis environment. The article presents the results of the archaeological research developed in this area. The methodological approach previously exposed and the diversity of sources analysed has allowed us to characterize the ancient road network and to identify field systems from different periods.

The reformation of power sector is still in the process of development. The present day situation in Russian electricity power market ischaracterized as transitional period: competitive electricity market is forming, new companies are being created and the power of government regulation is decreasing. The main aim of the reformation is to attract much-needed private investments to the power sector. The electricity consumption increases very rapidly and power sector has to cope with high demand. The goal of this master's thesis is to analyze the nowadays situation in Russian power sector, such as generation structure, condition of electricity networks, electricity price formation for end-users, shape of fuel sector and investments risks and attraction. The final result of this work is creation of scenario of Russian power sector future shape and analysis of the present day situation.
