Curiosidades historiográficas: un hondureño le escribe a Marx en 1872

IntroducciónHace poco, un colega historiador, me hizo llegar una copia de una carta que su tutor de estudios en Barcelona, a su vez, pusiera en sus manos. La carta en cuestión es una de esas curiosidades histográficas que, en el trayecto de la labor de archivo, a veces, se tiene suerte de encontrar. en ocaciones, tales hallazgos pueden conducir a trabajos de excepcional importancia, como sucedió a Carlos Guinzburg en una comunidad.

GEOPOLÍTICA DE LA LUCHA DE CLASES: UNA PERSPECTIVA DESDE LA REPRODUCCIÓN SOCIAL DE MARX

Se presenta un propuesta que explora la posibilidad de una geopolítica situada en el horizonte social de la lucha de clases; la Geopolítica de la lucha de clases. Para ello se rescata la noción gramsciana de Estado ampliado, como una expresión sintética del conjunto de fuerzas políticas que emergen de las relaciones sociales. El cual pensamos posibilita un análisis crítico de una sociedad histórica que articula en una unidad diferenciada; la espacialidad social, la influencia de la economía, la política y la cultura, el complejo institucional estatal –o sociedad política– y la sociedad civil –esta última portadora de la hegemonía civil–. Pensamos que esta noción permite fundamentar una geopolítica crítica que no huya del supuesto fetichismo estatal, sino que reconozca en el Estado algo más que sólo instituciones políticas, administrativas y represivas ligadas al poder, la legalidad y la legitimidad social –en cierto sentido separadas de la propia sociedad–. Una noción de Estado integral que permita reconocer críticamente una confrontación geopolítica entre clases sociales y no sólo entre aparatos estatales. Pero también en como la primera se articula con la segunda, en una única realidad histórica en la que la espacialidad es instrumento político de diversas fuerzas sociales.

A formação humana na perspectiva histórico-ontológica

The theme of human formation is at the centre of the philosophy of education, whose aim is precisely the process of human promotion brought about by education. Starting from the critical vigilance proper to philosophy, the text sketches a phenomenology of the present time, verifying that the ideas prevailing in education at present are centred on the critique of reason and on the notions of truth and objectivity. This neo-pragmatism, which in the attempt to oppose metaphysics becomes deeply metaphysical, reducing everything to language, is contested by the authors with Marx's thoughts as a historicising philosophy that concerns not abstract subjects, but real individuals, historical subjects that are constituted as a synthesis of social relations. To that end, the authors resort to the historical ontological reflection on human formation contained in Marx's Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844. The article concludes by defending the proposition that access to the classics is a necessary condition for human formation.

Chemical composition, acetylcholinesterase inhibitory and antifungal activities of Pera glabrata (Schott) Baill. (Euphorbiaceae)

Pera glabrata (Schott) Baill. was selected for this study after showing a preliminary positive result in a screening of Atlantic Forest plant species in the search for acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and antifungal compounds. The bioassays were conducted with crude ethanol extract of the leaves using direct bioautography method for acetylcholinesterase and antifungal activities. This extract was partitioned with hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate solvents. The active chloroform fraction was submitted to silica gel chromatography column affording 12 groups. Caffeine, an alkaloid, which showed detection limits of 0.1 and 1.0 µg for anticholinesterasic and antifungal activities, respectively, was isolated from group nine. After microplate analyses, only groups four, nine, 10, 11 and 12 showed acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity of 40% or higher. The group 12 was purified by preparative layer chromatography affording four sub-fractions. Two sub-fractions from this group were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-flame ionization detector. The first sub-fraction showed anticholinesterasic activity and contained two major compounds: 9-hydroxy-4-megastigmen-3-one (84%) and caffeine (6%). The second sub-fraction presented five major compounds identified as 9-hydroxy-4-megastigmen-3-one, isololiolide, (-) loliolide, palmitic acid and lupeol and did not show activity.

Association between osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis in women: a cross-sectional study

CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES: Osteoporosis has frequently been observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The present study was undertaken in order to evaluate factors associated with osteoporosis among women with rheumatoid arthritis. DESIGN AND SETTING: Cross-sectional study, carried out in a public hospital in São Paulo. METHODS: The participants were 83 women with rheumatoid arthritis (53.7 ± 10.0 years old). Bone mineral density (BMD) and body composition were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. The patients were divided into three groups according to BMD: group 1, normal BMD (n = 24); group 2, osteopenia (n = 38); and group 3, osteoporosis (n = 21). Tests were performed to compare differences in means and correlations, with adjustments for age, duration of disease and cumulative corticosteroid. The relationships between clinical factors, physical activity score, dietary intake, body composition and biochemical parameters were analyzed using linear regression models. RESULTS: Mean calcium, vitamin D and omega-6 intakes were lower than the recommendations. Associations were found between BMD and age, disease duration, parathyroid hormone concentration and fat intake. The linear regression model showed that being older, with more years of disease and lower weight were negatively correlated with BMD [Total femur = 0.552 + 0.06 (weight) + 0.019 (total physical activity) - 0.05 (age) - 0.003 (disease duration); R² = 48.1; P < 0.001]. CONCLUSION: The present study indicates that nutritional factors and body composition are associated with bone mass in women with rheumatoid arthritis.

Efeito do beneficiamento sobre o valor nutricional do peixe mandim (Arius spixii)

Com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito do beneficiamento sobre o valor nutricional do peixe mandim (Arius spixii) comercializado em Maceió-AL, determinaram-se nas suas formas in natura e beneficiada (salgado-seco) a composição centesimal, valor calórico, cloretos, perfil de ácidos graxos e colesterol, sendo também analisada a ocorrência de óxidos de colesterol. Os resultados obtidos para o mandim in natura e beneficiado, respectivamente, de umidade (70,13% e 40,31%), proteínas (51,73% e 38,07%, base seca), carboidratos (4,67% e 2,24%, base seca), calorias (486 kcal/100g e 367 kcal/100g, base seca), ácidos graxos (poliinsaturados 14,54% e 15,49%, ômega-3 8,51% e 6,51%), colesterol (82,66 mg/100g e 61,30 mg/100g) e óxidos (7-cetocolesterol 8,31 µg/g e 17,90 µg/g), permitiram concluir que o beneficiamento favoreceu alterações significativas no valor nutricional do mandim.

Nutrição e doenças cardiovasculares: uma revisão

Diversos fatores de risco cardiovascular são preveníveis e modificáveis pela dieta. Esta revisão foi baseada nos dados do PubMed e posicionamento da órgãos oficiais. A proteína da soja contendo ou não isoflavonas exerce pouco efeito (<6%) sobre as dislipidemias, sendo que as isoflavonas isoladas têm efeito nulo. Os ácidos graxos saturados e trans permanecem como nutrientes controlados, sendo a exclusão dos trans meta de diversas leis. Em contrapartida, o ômega 3 e 9 deve ser estimulado nos países onde o consumo é reduzido. Embora a literatura apresente ações contraditórias sobre ômega 6, as entidades oficiais reforçam seus benefícios sobre o risco cardiovascular. Os fitoesteróis trazem benefícios no controle lipídico em intervenções primárias e secundárias. Essas observações ganham dimensão populacional quando alimentos (frutos secos, peixes, azeite de oliva, vinho) e modelos dietéticos (Mediterrâneo e Asiática) apresentam relação negativa com as doenças cardiovasculares. Portanto, há fortes evidências que justificam o consumo de alimentos contendo esses nutrientes

Alkaloids from Stems of Esenbeckia leiocarpa Engl. (Rutaceae) as Potential Treatment for Alzheimer Disease

Esenbeckia leiocarpa Engl. (Rutaceae), popularly known as guaranta, goiabeira, is a native tree from Brazil. Bioactivity-guided fractionation of the ethanol stems extract afforded the isolation of six alkaloids: leiokinine A, leptomerine, kokusaginine, skimmianine, maculine and flindersiamine. All isolated compounds were tested for acetyl cholinesterase inhibition, in vitro and displayed anticholinesterasic activity. The alkaloid leptomerine showed the highest activity (IC(50) = 2.5 mu M), similar to that of the reference compound galanthamine (IC(50) = 1.7 mu M). The results showed for the first time the presence of alkaloids leptomerine and skimmianine in E. leiocarpa (Engl.) with potent anticholinesterasic activity.

From ""Geography of Accumulation"" to ""Geography of Reproduction"": a dialogue with Harvey

This article aims to discuss the space, revealing its powerful in the comprehension of modem world, from the thesis which the geographic space consists itself as condition, medium and product of society reproduction in its totality, evolving several temporal-spatial scales and several levels of reality, that should prolong Marx's work, having in view the construction of a ""social theory of space"" in the sense of a radical critical geography. This argumentation allows to understand, in the limits of geography, the passage of the notion ""production of space"" as condition of the accumulation of capital to the notion ""production of space"" as condition of present reproduction in front of the accumulation crisis. As a starting point, a discussion about some David Harvey's works, who supports the thesis that accumulation crisis of capital would be solved, in the modem world, through the spatial fix.
